Old Toyota cars are built like a tank, new ones are great too but there is something about the 90s and early 2000s that were just indestructible and safe. Glad you made it out with not many issues, prayers to a speedy recovery!

The uninsured, revoked or suspended license driver issue in the US is a major problem these days. I recently went to court for a speeding ticket and at least 90% of the cases involved either driving with no license or driving without insurance. Its straight up infuriating when good people get screwed over by irresponsible idiots.

Glad to see you're going to make a full recovery, Matt. I was hit by a freight train weighing 8400T moving at 42knots in a Toyota Tacoma with no seatbelts or airbags and walked out of it. Not saying I wasn't banged up, I was big time, adrenaline is a hell of a thing. I am a GM guy, they've been putting food on my family's table for over 50 years, but you'll never hear me say a bad word about a Toyota.

I was T-Boned by an undercover cop and I was driving in my little 94 Toyota pickup. I flipped end over end for about 150 feet. I walked away from that with barely a scratch. I was injured, but nothing major. Just back trouble that i was able to do rehab on, and a mild concussion. That's when I knew my Toyota was built well and I feel that it saved my life. I've bought about 8-9 Toyota trucks since then. Glad you are ok MRSHORT GAME!!! Love your videos.

My college roommate was killed by brake drum coming off semi on interstate. State patrol did not get camera footage in time as the highway cameras (at least in this state) overwrite the footage every 48-72 hours. If you want camera footage you need to get on it fast; may be too late.

Bummer on the wreck; thankfully you came through relatively unscathed. My buddy was hit from behind a couple months ago in his 2006 4Runner (owned since new) on the hwy and it was totaled out (He was able to play in a Tournament the next day though). My advice to him was to find a clean Lexus GX470 and he found a great one owner with maintenance history for $14.5K.

Matt: I am sure things will turn out OK but please be aware of the concussion. The almost exact same thing happened to me a few years ago and I had a minor concussion. I had some symptoms that didn't show up for a few days. It was eventually OK but it was weird for a while. Not trying to be overly dramatic. Also, the infrared Sauna is a real lifesaver.

Oh that poor 3rd gen Runner!! Glad you’re ok. Make sure to check comp prices in the area that have sold, and give them to your insurance. If fully covered, I wouldn’t recommend taking their first or even their second offered amount, as the true market value of that rig exceeds that of which the insurance will base their offer number. Just some food for thought.

I know what you mean about getting emotional about your truck. I had a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that was my grand dad’s brand new, he passed it down to my dad when he got sick and couldn’t drive anymore, then my dad passed it down to me when my grand dad passed away. A guy turned out in front of me one night going home from work. I knew the truck was totaled as soon as I got out and looked at it, when I get home and go in my room I lock the door and start balling. My wife comes to check on me and all I can say is that was pawpaw’s truck and it’s gone.

Lincoln saved my life. Dude crashed into me and it's wild that i walked away with only a bloody nose. Passenger unharmed. Truth be told a unibody vehicle SUV would have served you better as far as damage to your body goes. Body on frame trucks/suv's don't crumple and absorb energy. I will say that Toyota makes a helluva vehicle particularly their body on frame trucks and SUV's. My 2003 GX470 is literally a tank and everything works even with 325K miles on it. I was in a wreck in a 1987 Mercedes 300D sedan and it was literally a rock star. Mercedes has always been ahead of the game on safety. They invented the airbag and were the first to design a vehicle in a way that the engine supports would collapse in a head on collision sending the engine below the passenger compartment rather than back through it. I say upgrade and get a Lexus GX470 or Gx460. They are freakishly high quality, reliable and with lots of creature comforts even as far back as 2003.
