This is just a hail Mary to hang onto the Greedy monetization of Tiger, since he can't regularly compete anymore and to attract a new demographic to compete with LIV. I think it's going to flop bigly. I have no interest in watching. I'd like to play it myself with friends, but still would prefer real golf. and $176 to go watch this. Are you kidding me? Hell no. I don't give a shit about Golf personalities.. I just want to watch commercial free golf. Give me LIV style coverage, few commercials, easily accessible (Streaming/youtube, not peacock), but with a PGA style events, with a cut, with a qualifier.

Really disappointed with the Grant and Tiger training video, Matt. I prefer your training aide videos and don't think Tiger wants to lose to a KZbin star. Hoping the TGL is a huge success

I think it’s comical how 98% of the pros are playing second fiddle to You Tube personalities. This is beyond a stretch.

The success of it will depend on how good the production is, but I can't see it ever competing with real golf, at best it'll maybe make some people try and watch more tournaments to see their favourite players. That being said, until the PGA figures out how to broadcast a golf tournament in a way that isn't like pulling teeth to watch, nothing will save the viewership on the average tournament. Trying to watch the Sentry this past weekend was insane, imagine on Sunday not having a broadcast start until the leaders are already on the back nine. It's ridiculous. (I'm in Canada, so there might be other options for Americans or globally but I couldn't find ANYTHING until the featured group showed up on TSN+ and the main broadcast came on the Golf Channel)

i think it's gonna flop...spectacular flop...what's the appeal? indoor golf? seriously, golf has a limited audience already...do we need to splinter it further? I'd rather watch ladies senior european tour from South Africa..

There needs to be more than just custom holes. You need to add modifiers that can increase /decrease ball flight. Maybe add a points system for how close you get to the pin. Or have the green change dynamically as you're playing. Golf is not an interesting sport to watch and you're taking away the only thing that can make it interesting and that's the weather. Hurricane force winds in the stadium lol. If you're gonna make a simulator make it so most of this stuff would never be possible in real life. Especially when you remove the safety element

Nobody actually thinks this will be a success, right? If The Match(es) have proven anything is the PGA pros aren’t terribly fun to watch outside the ropes in exhibitions. That’s all these are is exhibitions. They aren’t even going to swear or talk shit. Tiger is the big name here but he’s just about the worst in things like these. He’s not terribly witty and he’s awful at talking shit(which you can’t even do here). None of the other guys have personalities to carry this thing either. This might make too 2026 in hope to make some money back. But it will end at that point obviously, if not after season 1.

TGL is designed to be an ad fest, its about money and broadcast numbers. Comcast and therefore SKY and Golf Channel, are the broadcast partners, they are all about ad revenue, great for their pockets but annoying for viewers. LIV is ad free on KZbin and is giving free time for the players to have their own channels, so Bryson and Phil. TGL may well get new viewers, perhaps a younger audience, will they buy golf equipment? If not, you will need to find new advertisers. As with LIV, the true understanding of success, will happen with history, certainly 5 years of existence. Like LIV, its a short broadcast, loud and brash, team based, but it doesn’t have Saudi Money, Tiger wants to take money out, not put it in, so judgement day, will be in 5 years, will Tigers wallet wait that long.

Sounds like the frequency of commercials will be horrible - like pro football, with well over 1/2 of the air time on commercial breaks. Also, too bad viewers need ESPN or ESPN+ to view the games. They should have at least started out on network TV to build a fan base. It's not worth paying to watch hours of commercials and very little golf.

Its called the "Tiger Woods effect". It will be viewed by many with good numbers to back it up. But it will fade soon after the 2nd or 3rd event. The shelf life of life of this TGL says "sell by 03/01/25"

That is stupid. It isn't golf i want ever watch that garbage. That is not like going from black and white videos to color. It is like going from color to black and white. They need to stop messing with golf because it is getting hard to watch. Golf will only ever be an individual sport. I have never watched liv and know one i know likes it other then a couple people. They don't like it but they watch it. The reason is because at the end of the day everyone knows golf is an individual sport. Who really wants to see a slob flop around on the golf course. If it was such a good idea, then the long drive league would be bigger than the pga, but it isn't. This type of play works for KZbin because KZbin isn't expected to be professional golf. So what if you can chip putt or drive the ball. The only real question is can you play golf. That is why the pga is the best.

To me it looks like they are trying to bring the excitement of hole 16 at the Waste Management Open, to an indoor setting. Looks pretty cool to me. Can imagine it being in major markets like the NFL. 2 Teams going at it on Weekends in each market. Then like a Superbowl at the end of the season. You could have a draft from college, free agency, etc. Something has to bring golf into the future (and make it less of a snooze feat) and this might be it.

TGL looks fun to play with your buddies but we'll have to see how exciting Sim golf is to watch. Seems like it should have come out back when they wouldn't let us wash the balls, had "pool noodles" in the cups, took all the rakes and benches from the courses..

Great idea. Won't make it. America is not Asia. Golf is small niche sport that will never grow to the level that golf enthusiast want it to. Cost of entry is way to high. Time to play is way to long. No true team aspect. This is a traditionalist sport and it always will be. Those gamers are gaming for a reason. Large majority of them do not want to do a athletic sport in person. Hence the gaming. Whoever thought of this was a moron.

I am so excited to watch TGL tonight for one reason. I'm hoping this is the biggest Train Wreck in golf hisory. For some reason I've had it with these PGA guys thinking we just can't get enough of them! I watch a ton of golf and enjoy most of the KZbin stuff but this along with the night time golf Matches is too much. The people and the money invested in this will only make the crash more entertaining. If the Manning brothers were involved I'd be a little more encouraged. You go Tiger! 14:43 14:43

First off, I think Tiger's comments about 'don't watch YT' was in reference in a time when the space wasn't as helpful to improving golf. I am very positive about the video when it comes as am sure it will show full circle and I also think TW opinion might have changed if he sees how people like Grant are making it more relational. Rick Shiels will always be our guy from a UK perspective. Golf is now more relational on an intl level because of guys like Grant and we love to see it.

The only way it works is if the players are mic'd up and they genuinely enjoy talking to each other and to the crowd....aka, KZbin type golf. If it's just them hitting into screens and all that with minimal talking from the players, then forget it. You can also expand it to include KZbin golfers in some of the matches, you can also hold tournaments around the country at local Sim Golf locations or even hold tournaments at T-Shotz or Top Golf locations....winners get to come take on the pro's, etc. Lots of options....what you can't do is just have the regular pros come hit into a screen with minimal interaction.
