I personally have a favorite, but I do like the majority of his pieces. My favorite is definitely Feelings of Childhood, which was posted about about 6 years ago, and it has so much emotion. Second favorite is Storytale Soundscapes Movement 2, due to its sheer epicness. Not sure if this would be my third favorite, but I love when he plays on his old piano, when he performed the Mario, Kingdom Hearts, and Pokemon medley. Others that I can think of are This Land with Josh Chiu, Passion (of course), 600 AD was awesome, To Zanarkand, and there are too many others to name. Also, Kyle, if you see this comment, can you do a cover of Shanghai Dreams by Tian Jiang?

I'm very jealous. I don't have the possibilitys to learn professional... Do you have some tips for people who want to learn it themselfes?
@antoniocunha2599 жыл бұрын
Lisa Körner The things a professional teaches you are subtleties and little details and errors in your play. It can be very handy to have a good teacher for their critique and especially their experience, but it's never impossible to learn it by yourself. I started teaching myself too after seeing kyle about half a year ago and nowadays I'm also taking lessons because I was afraid of engraving bad habits. The only real difference is that I get a bit more guidance, as in 'here's homework X' or 'don't pedal that way', but other than that it's still my own diligence that does all of the work. Since you have no access to a teacher I'd say, find a song you really love and would really love to play. See if there are free sheets online or on youtube videos that are - simple -. Listen a lot to them and compare it to your own attempts. Start small, get better at the small things and then move on to more complex stuff. Chop difficult parts in smaller stepping stones and focus on those little parts first. Learning music theory helps too, otherwise, reading sheets will prove difficult, but I used to cheat a little by looking at a pianists fingers in videos too when I couldn't figure the notes out. Another tip I will give you for starting out is to count out loud while playing. I used to be very lax with that and it resulted in me having more trouble with timing notes. I hope this could help you; happy new year!

Lisa Körner I myself am I pianist and can say that what you need is motive, with motive you can learn anything. Skill can be simply learnt

António Cunha I also started playing about half a year ago (closer to May, actually) after seeing another of kylelandry's pieces. I've always wanted to, and there were several other things leading up to this new hobby, but it was a piece not unlike this one that was the last straw. I've since been meaning to get a tutor, but with a background in music and without a proper keyboard, I just don't see much point in it yet. In any case, good luck with your future endeavors, and a prosperous 2015 to you. May your fingers be limber and your pedals responsive.

I listened to this twice in a row. That is 30 minutes of my life drifting off into the depths of my heart, where the land of fantasy engulfed me and embraced me for who I am, accepts me and all my insecurities and imperfections, and it is in that land that I meet the side of me that gives me the courage to follow my dreams and heart to no boundaries. I meet the person I wish to become, and as I fade back to reality I can't help but have a smirk on my face. Keep playing, Kyle. You speak to my soul through your piano, and I'm positive I'm not the only one. With every new DB video I think that there can't be even more variations, but you always seem to find more lol! The point is that you never make me feel sick of listening to much DB, in fact I enjoy it more and more with every new video! I usually can't hear a piece anymore if I listen to it to much but I think I could listen to your DB improvisations for years, as well as to every other performance by you. This time you really focused on atmosphere. You kept that smooth relaxing DB feeling over the whole video while building up atmosphere and variating between different styles. This is why I think that DB 2014 is your best DB video. In every other DB video you put in a very fast and loud part which didn't really fit in Dearly Beloveds main intention. Not that it's bad, in fact such a variation style is really good, but DB wants to be relaxing and smooth, not hectic and to loud. And you managed to play it in such an atmospheric style the whole time AND to variate it as well without making the listener feel bored. You built in some loud but not to loud parts and you played around with the chords. It never made me feel that I wasn't listening to a DB video even though you didn't always play the melody, really awesome!! Well, this may not really fit to this video but I noticed within your last videos how well your new keyboard fits to such relaxing and atmospheric harmonics!! I've been really sceptical about it when you posted that pic on facebook but I'm surprised how well it works for your playing style! Well, this has been a long comment indeed, but I just wanted to tell you what I was feeling while listening. So yeah, stay awesome in 2015 and keep playing forever! Happy new year!!

To get anyone and I repeat anyone to love Kingdom Hearts... Just show them this... This really brings out the light within everyone's heart and can cause and overflow of nostalgia if you love the series as much as I do. Nomura created this game series and Yoko Shimoura created these amazing songs... Look how far the series has come now. It's grown a huge fanbase all across the world and anyone who's played all and beaten all the games knows how much this song impacts them straight to the core of their heart. It's amazing how much a video game can have on your life. I've conquered depression, anxiety, anger, just because of Kingdom Hearts. If you love this cover of Dearly Beloved and haven't played the games, I highly suggest you play the games themselves to fully understand the meaning of this song and how much it can impact your heart. "Dearly Beloved friends is all I have, my life may not be Simple and Clean but at every turn, my friends save me from the dark. Together, we share a Passion that no one can understand." Thanks Kyle for this amazing cover and I can't wait for the 2015 version

Kyle starting up the KHIII hype train inside me all over again..... The thing I love about this rendition of Kyle's Dearly Beloved along with many other songs of the KH franchise is that you can find bits and pieces of other songs scattered about in a seemingly stand alone piece. Even when the story seemed confusing, the music alone was able to tell you when something was important because of all the characters' themes and major event pieces incorporated within..... Whether or not Kyle did so intentionally is beyond me, for all I know my brain is probably trolling me, telling me things that don't exist are right in front of me -but one thing is for sure: The feels are real with this one.

Up until now, the 2008 version was my favorite. The 2012 came close, but this is absolutely amazing and beautiful. New favorite right here. Helping me set some goals for my piano skills.

You know, I played these game in 2003 in fell in love with it and so I played it a few times more. Even today and many, many good games later, Kingdom Hearts is definitly one of my favourite. Over 10 years are gone, but your versions of Dearly Beloved let me feel the same greatful feelings I had in the moments with this game. Thanks Dude, for the yearly rearrangement of my remembrance :)

Kyle, from the bottom of my heart thank you. It's been a rough couple of years for me, and I'm not sure if I would have been able to make it through the stress and schoolwork and the sleepless nights without your music. Maybe I would have found someone or something else, but I found your channel, and for that I am more grateful than I can ever really express directly. Good luck, and here's to hoping the internet comes through on your kickstarter.

I've been looking forward to these yearly improvisations of Dearly Beloved since 2012. I never quite know what to say about them. I always think that they're beautiful, and I very much appreciate these performances. I always am left looking forward to the next year's iteration, continuing to enjoy past incarnations in the meanwhile. Keep going, Kyle! Thank you so much for your sounds~

You've improved so much over the years I've watched you play. I've always admired you, and you're the reason I want to learn to play the piano so much. Your music has gotten me through a lot, and just thank you so much.

There are so many things as I would like to tell you... As long as my English would not know how to retranscribe what my heart feels by listening to you. Then I would content myself with a sober: thank you. Thank you for everything. I would like so much that more people can be touched by what you are doing for us. All the good which you could make for the world... But we are and there we will remain so. All together, as a big family.
