🗿 is the worst emoji. It's horrendous and ugly. I hate it. The point of emojis is to show emotions, but what emotion does this show? Do you just wake up in the morning and think "wow, I really feel like a massive fucking stone today"? It's useless. I hate it. It just provokes a deep rooted anger within me whenever I see it. I want to drive on over to the fucking emoji headquarters and kill it. If this was the emoji movie I'd push it off a fucking cliff. People just comment 🗿 as if it's funny. It's not. 🗿 deserves to die. He deserves to have his smug little stone face smashed in with a hammer. Oh wow, it's a stone head, how fucking hilarious, I'll use it in every comment I post. NO. STOP IT. It deserves to burn in hell. Why is it so goddamn smug. You're a fucking stone, you have no life goals, you will never accomplish anything in life apart from pissing me off. When you die noone will mourn. I hope you die.

I have 2 theories on why Matt was ripping those pieces of paper which I think might be wrong, 1) the piece of papers that matt in the video was shredding is a metaphor for the verses/hooks/bridges that he was going to do on puppy( probably referencing The line in Dom's verse about because of Ameer Puppy and any other projects that they were going to do that year that had him included was scrapped and canceled), but because any future projects with him involved were canceled , you can't hear any of it. 2) it's a metaphor of Matt's heart and memories of him being ripped into pieces and shred to pieces because of Ameer lying an betraying the band. Idk both might be wrong

The part that gets me is that all of this is their friday therapy sessions. Their vulnerability, kevin opening up about so much, joba's chorus and him falling to the ground, matt reading off a paper of his feelings and then ripping it up, merlyn just sitting emotionless, and Dom punching the camera and letting out his anger. When I realized this, I was just speechless, and it's heartbreaking about how hurt they are feeling. These guys are geniuses, and I'm so proud of them. Dearly Departed is my favorite song from Ginger and I was so happy when I heard that this music video was coming out. Thank you Brockhampton.

I feel like the story of this video is mainly revolved around an intervention which represents their feelings of Ameer. Each one of them is a different person in that type of intervention. Kevin seems to be scared to let out his true feelings as that's what he raps about and only wants to show that he still loves Ameer as he gets close to the camera. Joba's mentally drained after he verbally and physically spills out. Matt is of course the person that's given cue cards and trips over his words and rips them up showing his frustration he feels for ameer. And Dom obviously has no remorse for Ameer and can only physical show his anger. Merlyn's presence in the video is clever to me because he's the archetype that has accepted what has happened and has nothing to truly say or project. You could also say the same for how that truly fits as he just doesn't have a verse.

Edit: These were my vague thoughts and interpretations that i had when i first watched the music video so anything i say may not be 100% at all but its just what i captured in my head. Just a thought/interpretation: This video is an intervention of these members confessing negative/traumatic events in their life and we could be looking at the perspective of a therapist, OR most notably, Ameer. At Kevins part, he is upclose to the camera (Ameer) and try to get into his mind of what he did to even get to the position hes in now, along with the other BH members, after Kevin and Ameer being very close friends these years, hes hurt to see this betrayal. At Jobas part, hes simply giving an outcry for why Ameer has not told them his true backstory, his departure and asking why it had to be this way. At Matts part we see that he prepared a notes speaking about the losses he has had in his lifetime and couldnt put up the fact that he had to get through another loss. He then starts breaking down in anger and tears up the notes. While thats happening, Merlyn is seen next to him doing nothing but giving a horrified and broken look, as if seeing this mess grow, he is left speechless and cant speak his words out due to how shocking the situation is. At last we have Dom, who goes on a rant about how furiously pissed he is at Ameer for doing what he did to his friend (set him up for robbery) and has a mental breakdown, while trying to cope by lighting a cig. Dom then goes on to speak on how Ameer tries to clear up his past by looking toward the good things in life and reaching out to God, but it wont erase the fact that he fucked over his once close friend. Hence why you see Dom getting aggressive toward the camera (Ameer). Sorry if this sounded all over the place.

OK Dean / Amiel Blue this is accurate but I’m not sure about doms friend and the robbery, but it sounds like it makes sense. After seeing this video it gives the song way more meaning. Easily the most powerful song on the album and maybe they have ever made

I think that you're right about the intervention, but I'm not sure that this song is entirely about the trauma of ameer. Sure it was traumatic for Kevin and dom, but joba has said his verse was inspired by his grand parents death. Same with matt champion and his grandfather's recent passing.

Holy damn that video was transcendent. It's absolutely perfect for the song, it did more than embody it, it added a whole new crazy layer of how they really cope and what kind of struggles they were going through while making Dearly Departed and probably the rest of Ginger. The way they only lipsynced parts, Matt tearing up papers, everyone getting angry, Dom barely performing his intense verse and instead just tensely smoking, it does so much to highlight how the album is STILL a cleaned-up expression of the hard times and negative emotions they were going through. Listening to Dom's anger on the track, the door slam, and then watching this video, the descent into uncontrolled, volatile emotions is incredible

My interpretation of the video: the whole camera shot in the beginning is perfectly symmetrical from the lamps to the windows and the way sit, and hides all emotion, then once they say their verse they disrupt the perfect camera shot with the chaos of emotion, this is symbolic of the fact that creating this song was a therapy session for BH and are expressing their emotions about ameer. they finally feel like they can let out their emotion and gain some closure for their emotions they’ve been bundling up for so long, and that’s why the video is in a POV of ameer in a therapy like session.
@logancastanedaabbott9578
@logancastanedaabbott9578 5 жыл бұрын
They also each become transparent and show us the different ways they deal with pain, Kevin sorta becomes dismissive and Joba breaks down and becomes sad, Matt turns his emotional pain heal feels into physical pain or self-harm and blames himself unjustly, and finally Dom stands on a chair and becomes angry and violent in order to reclaim dominance and power he feels he’s lost after he was backstabbed and set up by ameer, and merlyn bottles everything up inside and doesn’t share with anyone. Just some food for thought....
