"Instead of worrying about if other people like you...." we've all heard this advice before and know what comes next, right? The next line is supposed to be, "start liking yourself for who you are and don't worry about what anyone thinks." But Lindsey changes it up. Her answer (summarized) is, "Start liking other people. Make a positive difference in other people's lives, and you will build your own confidence in the process." It's very much a reversal from the typical advice where we're told to ignore the rest of the world. Her advice is to embrace it, look outwards, and be a model for how all people should be. Lindsey is super talented, but she's also wicked smart.

So I can stop being worried about my how I look and to feel confident. You have already brought so much positivity to my life, and I can't imagine what I would be right now if I wouldn't have found you almost 2 years ago now. You have helped me grow and become the person I am today. I feel so incredibly lucky to have you as my role model and inspiration. I think I have to leave some words here in the comment area, after I surprisingly found out that this video was released on March 3rd, 2015, my 18th birthday, when I finally became an adult! Well, I'm a fresher in my college, Peking University in China, where KZbin is blocked and I have to use a VPN to visit your channel illegally (actually not a big deal :-P). I always love music but has been educated as a standard bachelor. I major in computer science, you know, kind of nerdy...not liking it. And you made me aware that, if I can't change the world, I can change my view. And I made it - after you started it. I can find my own way to happiness. I must give my special thank to you, not only for your amazing music, but also for all the inspiration you gave to me. It's so unbelievable that how spirit can infect each other. I've often wondered what advice I'd give to my younger self, but then have realised how flawed a concept it would be. To advise yourself to do things differently would result in a change in who you grow up to become. I am a firm believer in the concept that our actions, experiences and people we encounter shape the people we become. Change your past actions and you change those experiences/encounters. To give such advice is tantamount to saying "I'm not happy with who I grow up to be, but rather than changing who I am in the present, I'm going to get my younger self to do all the hard work for me!". If you're happy with who you are, surely you would give no advice to your younger self, rather than risk changing the person you have grown into. If, on the other hand, you aren't happy with who you are, would it not be better to start now, rather than in the past? As for Lindsey's advice... I would be inclined to say that it is advice suitable for every teen, not just her younger self, but is also advice that, even when given, practically every teen will ignore. Then again, given the opportunity, would Lindsey still give such advice to her younger self if she knew it would risk changing the person she has grown into? She appears to believe, as I do, that our experiences shape who we become (thinking particularly about her previous statements that her time on AGT are, whilst painful at the time, something she wouldn't change as it pushed her to become the success we have all come to admire). Would she really give herself advice that would lead to her not experiencing some of the challenges, the overcoming of which has been instrumental (sorry... Couldn't resist!) in developing the talents and confidence that draw us all here?

Wow. I really wish I had someone say those words of wisdom to me when I was in junior high. You hit the nail right on the head with this one. Junior high was by far the worst experience for me, mostly because I was a target for being picked on mostly because I was one of those shy kids who didn't talk a lot. If I had someone say something like this to me when I was 13 I feel like my junior high experience would have been better. You are truly an inspiring person, not just with your talent on the violin (which is absolutely amazing), but with the advice you give to people, telling people that they should follow their dreams, and just being and all around good person. You have inspired me to follow my dreams, and even pursue some new ones hopefully soon! Any who, I love the videos that you put out; they are very entertaining, and I hope to see you at another concert in Wisconsin in the future. You are the best Lindsey. :-)

Good advices, Lindsey. They are not only useful for 13 year old girls, some of them can be very useful for grown ups. Like sharing love and doing everything to make other people feel good, not only think about themselves. If everyone followed these simple advices, the world woud become much better place. wow this is exactly what I would have told myself if I had the chance. as a teen I was so worried about what people thought about me, I literally gave up even trying. I kept my head down, never had friends and frankly, just felt sorry for myself. even though I was the cause of all of it when I really look back. unfortunately my parents never cared enough to notice what I was going through. took me till my late twenties to finally realize the real issue(s) and am still working on improving. makes me sad to think other kids go through this

Wow, this video really made me think about what's happening to me today. I'm 14 and I really work hard to make friends but NO. I don'yt need to work hard to be friends with the popular ones. I just need to be friends with the people who also has the same things as me. Thank you Lindsey! Be friends with those who will accept you for who you are. If ever you are in need of someone, you friends and family should be the first ones you think of. You have also truly gotten into the spirit of the #DearMe. It should not only be an inspiration for us to do better and work for what we want and believe in, but an inspiration for us to inspire others to do the same. Just some advice: DON'T WAIT. You can still share it at the annual student's convention, but don't wait for it. Inspire others now.

I love this video! You're totally right. We've got to smile more! :D And care less of other people. BTW, I was really really IMPRESSED by your concert in Korea(Mar.9.2015). I couldn't stop clapping and shaking my head during the whole concert! You made me burn with passion again! I really want to say thank you about it. And it was so glad to meet you in person.(You might remember the Korean calligraphy guy on M&G) You're the best! I love you! See you soon in Korea~ ♥

Thank you for the warm thoughts. As you were talking to yourself I saw myself reflected in your words. One thing I would say to my younger self would be to try new things and take chances. Don't worry if you do not succeed but learn from the experience and apply the knowledge learned to other areas in your life.

thea alexander's "2150ad" : h.g.wells "the time machine"; Richard bach's " illusions, the adventures of a reluctant messiah" & "A Bridge Across Forever"... as to time...then Guy Pearce's film portraying H.G.Wells... of course your self artistic expressions "Shatter Me, Transcendance...etc... all revealing ...insight I appreciate your self directed expressions blessings be with you always!
