If you're back here after some time, just know I love you. Life is surely different, but this moment will always be unchanged. This tiny little painful moment is as expansive as the adoration of our youth, despite it not feeling the same anymore. I love all of you.

Thank you. Things are very VERY changed. And I with them. (I'm not who I used to be) And yet, all is weirdly similar. Thus I am here. And thus I thank you. Blessed be, though I near cry and woe is me... nevertheless... blessed be.

When I was in the 7th grade, the basketball team practiced BEFORE school every morning. I remember driving to school every morning at 5AM listening to this song on my iPod Touch, the hard rain coming down on the windshield and then looking out at the woods across the field from the gym. I didn't realize how much I forgot about that time period in my life until I found this song again. Damn, this song is a time machine.

what strikes me most bout this comment is i couldn't have realistically listened to music like that as a kid. i mean, with that sort of selection involved, and ease of access. and a generation prior to me, not at all. I don't mean that as a comment of privilege or any such insipid thing, just the remarkable difference of childhood experiences, even in theory. i recall dreaming out the window of the bus on my way to school, or perhaps watching the sky as i walked to school. i didn't even really think of having a musical score to it. the dreams and thoughts were quieter.

I remember being 16 and listening to this song on my little bedside iPod speaker and looking out the window, into the woods behind my parents' house at night. The opening shot of this video is shockingly similar to that memory. It's weird to see.

You may tire of me as our December sun is setting 'cause I'm not who I used to be No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise the youthful boy below Who turned your way and saw something he was not looking for Both a beginning and an end But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize when he catches his reflection on accident On the back of a motorbike with your arms outstretched trying to take flight, leaving everything behind But even at our swiftest speed we couldn't break from the concrete in the city where we still reside And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea, like navy men, 'Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides like brothers on a hotel bed

My grandmother who was born in December died this year back in March, and it shook my family at its core. I was already the one family member that never really came around due to our family problems, and they were many. I would always listen to this song whenever I had yearned for family interaction, but I just couldn't bring myself to see them, until the reason I had to was a reason too late. Driving from my grandmother's house after consoling my mother, me, my younger brother and cousin drove, silent the whole ride. We couldn't get away from the feeling we felt no matter how hard we had tried. My family members later roasted me for wearing dark sunglasses at night, only for them to see the dark circles and wrinkles from the stress of my life. Neither they or I could find similarities of my childhood photos and me now. Months later, I have my grandmother's ashes and I tell her goodnight every night. And I tell my mother it more, my family it more. This December 7th, my grandmother's birthday, will be hard, as my December sun had already set. I love you and I miss you granny. Everytime I hear this song I miss you way harder each time. Had I known the sun that was you was setting soon, I'd stay until the street lights came on. Only you made me feel like who I used to be.

This is a great song. Three years ago I was diagnosed with Epilepsy, and I see this, as sort of a Self-reflection when I look at myself in the Mirror nowadays. I know that this is not what it's about. BUT music is just that. Subjective to the listener, and somedays this is just how I feel.

I have a brother who's my Irish twin, he had a friend and I dated him for 3.5yrs in secrecy because he didn't want my brother to know. He didn't want anybody to know. My brother was my very bestest friend. When me and my ex split up he spread nasty lies about me. Enough so that my brother doesn't talk to me anymore at all and never let me explain. Just blocked me on everything and ghosts me. That was many years ago. I'm married and have a family and kids now and he still won't talk to me. This song breaks my heart and my heart cries cause I miss my brother.

In the first minute of this song, what's that ghostly sound in the background?
@ilyfrankh
@ilyfrankh Жыл бұрын
"Actually that's a sound that comes from the piano itself: if you press the sustain pedal and start moving your hands randomly across the strings of the piano, you'll get the very same ghostly sound you hear in the first minute of Brothers on a Hotel Bed. Since touching a piano string produces a note, the reason you can't define the exact pitch of the sound you hear is because, by moving your hands across the strings, you're producing so many different notes at the same time that it feels just like a dissonant noise. Plus the song features multiple recordings of these sounds, so that doesn't help in figuring out what exactly is going on in the background. Hope I helped you!"
