It’s about this nice guy who wants this girl he can’t have, and he believes they’ll be together once she realizes how great he is-he just has to wait it out. That’s the part that makes the song really creepy, the delusion of thinking that they were meant to be together. It’s a really dark song. A lot of the material is about the inevitable disappointment people feel as they move through life, and things don’t feel the way they expect. It seems more like a song about an innocent crush from a teen walking past his crushes house on the way home from school. The fact you people think that makes him a stalker says far more about you than anyone else. And yes I know what death cab said, but look at them. I've never seen more obvious white knights in my entire life. It's not equality to give women everything good, while we get judged for being humans. Especially since the biggest wh0res are all women.

This song to me is about Travel and finding oneself. It's almost her inner voice singing to her. How in the beginning she is travelling so reluctantly, she looks as though she has just gotten out of a heartbreak and is trying to get away from it all. She almost looks lost and sad. As the song progresses, she seems to start getting enchanted and possessed by the beauty of the places she is travelling to, and spending time by herself. She slowly starts to find peace, and even a little bit of the spark of joy. Its almost like if you give yourself a chance to be alone, get to know yourself you would start to fall in love with yourself and life all over again. You just have to give it a chance.

I didn't see any comments about the awesome metaphor of the video. Did anyone else notice that while she's off traveling and living her life, the band is stuck or have secluded themselves in the freezing storage room? The camera goes back and forth between the 2. The girls keeps traveling, independently having experiences. Then it switches back to our stalkerish friends in the basement. Notice when they're playing, their body language has this sort of bitter, mildly aggressive, frustrated vibe. And as they go over the lyrics, it seems like it's something they've done so many times. As a stalker goes over in his head so many times how he just needs the girl to see him the way he sees himself. I think they perfectly made a video reflecting how a rejected, borderline stalker guy would feel, while the girl is off leading her life. Awesome, artists involved in the making both this song and video.

I feel a need to comment on the music video itself. I remember when I first watched it when it just came out, being hypnotized watching the woman traveling all over the world, but in such an understated manner. That image of her has always stuck with me, especially since I've always wanted to travel on my own. Now, over a decade later this video has even more of an impact on me, I was able to accomplish my goal of traveling on my own and this video encapsulates the feeling of doing that better than any other type of media I've seen. It's a feeling of peacefulness, joy, wonder, melancholy and loneliness all combined into something beautiful. Which is exactly what the video shows, so thank you.
