Death Grips is an experimental hip hop group who have made a name for themselves with what many people would define as one of their most legendary projects THE MONEY STORE. I've received word that its unorthodox, crazy, off the wall and just insane at some points. Will it live up to the hype? Lets find out.
DEATH GRIPS - THE MONEY STORE FULL ALBUM
1. Get Got
2. The Fever (Aye Aye)
3. Lost Boys
4. Blackjack
5. Hustle Bones
6. I've Seen Footage
7. Double Helix
8. System Blower
9. The Cage
10. Punk Weight
11. Fuck That

@@Mr.Marbles depends on what you are playing it on. Some systems handle punk weight and it actually sounds like bass but some weaker speakers, like basic laptop speakera or earphones make it sound like distortion.

@@charmofknlypi it is bass and if you listen to it on big speakers it will obviously vibrate, but the bass itself is not that deeb and, well, bassy. it wont rip your speaker apart like some trap songs or drum n bass.

My best friend has tried listening to deathgrips and when he introduces me to people he says I listen to deathgrips at 4am to relax. I think the biggest thing is that theres a lot of artistry underneath the chaotic initial sound and production, which is something I'm glad you picked up on in the initial listen and lyrics. I think I instantly clicked because it's almost cathartic to hear mr ride scream and ramble with glass breaking and engines reving, also what you said at the beginning. I love the creativity, from album art, lyrics, music video, performances, even song names. The more you look into them, the lyrics, the context, the culture, it seems endlessly deep and enriching. So I'm glad you're enjoying your first listen!

Impossible kid is not as great as skelethon and I don't think his albums should all be called classic. Labor days and Skelethon maybe because they seem to be the best examples of his style. He had a certain way in the 2000s and he started to sound different starting with skelethon and so far in the best way possible.

Lost Boys is a song dedicated to the homeless and impoverished. He talks about having to rob people to get by, cuz as Ride states "Fuck a job might have to rob". Also talks about drug abuse and other darkness that's typical of DG.

If I gotta pick a favorite, Inanimate Sensation is a fucking epic DG track. The great thing about them: they get this reaction out of me every album. They always push it further, get wilder, get weirder, find new ways to fuck you up. Some hit me harder than others, but if I've learned anything from the community, it's that everyone disagrees on what gets them hardest. I would've never guess someone would react so strongly to Lost Boys, but it makes sense seeing it. Also, Bottomless Pit is fucking packed with bangers, check it out sometime.

The thing is that (least in my opinion) The Money Store is the most "Commercial" sounding album of theirs meaning its the easiest one to listen to. A lot of people consider Death Grips to be Experimental Hip Hop but since they go so off kilter that others don't consider them that.
