Has no one realized how amazing and important "XXX" is ? People criticize Kendrick for being a hypocrite, preaching about peace and equality but he used to gangbang and they claim he's still violent , this is his response, he's saying anyone has a sensitivity to them that can make them snap and go crazy even if you're about peace and gun control or equality so his friend calls him asking him for advice because his son was murdered and he knows Kendrick is a man of god and peace but Kendrick tells him nah fuck that if someone killed my son somebody's getting killed and then he explains how he would try to kill him and ultimately go on a killing spree and go insane if someone touched his family (also I believe he's driving through Compton and that siren in the beat is representing police and paramedics which implies people are dying and crazy shit is happening while he's saying all of this on the phone) and then he tells his friend he has to go to a convention (to talk about gun control as you hear in the Spotify version) and when the beat changes well everything bono and Kendrick says is what they're saying in the convention. All of this effort and detail in one song easily makes XXX the best song on the album

This was so nice to watch i know this is a good year late but none of my friends listen kendrick and ive been trying to share the the feelings i had listening to this album. I’m not trying to echo chamber myself by only listening to people who enjoy kendrick, but man this album was another experience. To see somebody vibe with it the same way i did felt great man. This is such a special album and could never be replicated(to me). Being in NYC and broke just made a soundtrack could never come at a more special time in my life where I had no direction in my life and this gave me a energy that made me want to get going and try to work my ass off. Ive since made a clothing store that i worked off the DAMN. vibe of energetic depression and can give you enough energy that you can be sad and run a business that makes you feel emotional but motivated at the same time. Bless this album for changing my life.

I was coming up during the 90s so my GOAT is Nas... Biggie, Cube, 2Pac, Q-Tip and others would need to be in the conversation... BUT... Kendrick is definitely in that conversation and I would already put him in top 3 (Nas, Biggie, Kendrick) and on consistency alone I am now asking myself if he is the GOAT (even over Nas). I mean Section 80 -> GKMC -> TPAB -> DAMN... It can't be denied. The breadth and brilliance of his musical creativity, his storytelling ability, the consistently high bar he sets for himself and how nobody even gets close in this generation. This is by far the darkest album Kendrick has ever made. Its socially aware, and even has an overarching narrative (as many claim it doesn't). But that is to be expected from Kdot. What I did not expect was for Kendrick to question the way God feels about the planet. I'm an atheist, and pre-release press for this Album made it seem like it was going to be all about God, which i feared because it would alienate me a bit from the music (not that I still can't enjoy it). But I was absolutely wrong. The way Kendrick speaks is so dark its almost depressing. "God" is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. Obviously these only my first impressions after my first hearing, and I will need to dissect this a bit more before I reach a verdict on it. For now I can say that the message of this album is defined by the title. Kendrick has given up on the world, and all he can say about what's going on, is "Damn". Not that I blame him.. but to see someone as strong as him come out with something so vulnerable.. its just so powerful to me. One things for sure.. I'll be listening to this album for years.

God is meant to sound mainstream because its basically about where if he was younger is that what he would be doing? Thats the reason its mainstream its basically a fuck you to all of the rappers the just hop on whats popular to go with the crowd, loyalty is on the album because its where he feels alone in the world like in feel where its about him being alone and so he needs some loyalty in his life. The album in itself is about his life and living through fear and weakness but in duckworth he tells you to put it in reverse, so if you listen to the album in reverse duckworth acts as an intro, and so the gunshot in the track is Anthony killing Ducky setting the scene for the album in reverse order which is about his life without his dad and in blood he tries to make up for all the shit he pulled in some way so he goes to help a blind woman but this random act is meant to be an assassination attempt so he gets shot and killed like how in duckworth he says "Where I grew up without a father and die in a gunfight". Like if you agree with this theory. Most of the credit goes out to Tabby that man is a legend when it comes to identifying lyrics and concepts "Wondering if i'm living through fear or living through rap. (DAMN.)" Kendrick is a legend.

sonnyjason2 Same. My fav track is definitely DUCKWORTH, followed by FEAR, HUMBLE, DNA and LOVE. My least favourite is LUST. I get the meaning, I just think it doesn't justify why it's so repetive. GOD was catchy in a weird way, but not great. LOYALTYwasn't outright bad, it was just forgettable. YAY was really calm but not a favourite. XXX was really good but again, not favourite. ELEMENT was much the same. FEEL and PRIDEwould definitely be favourites on any other Kendrick project but they aren't on damn, which speaks about the quality of music on this. What is your opinion on the tracks?
