I wanna suck in titties. I wanna suck on titties and play with titties and so interesting things and solve problems and be happy.’”

I came for Trixie, but you ladies got me together with the discussion about “purpose”. I’ve had that question asked of me and the closest I’ve ever come to an answer is “not die”. And some days, that’s iffy. This hustle mindset being shoved down our throats needs to go. Some of us are just trying to maintain sanity for the next couple hours

when i was 15, my 11 year old sister died of a genetic disease and my mother tasked me with helping her comb her hair for the open casket. i’ll never forget how she said “see? she’s just sleeping.” when i saw her for the first time since the day she died. i don’t think my mom ever thinks about it but i can’t escape the memory. it really is traumatic. im 24 now and a day hasn’t gone by where i didnt think about that.

As a college grad, I’m chiming in on the first “I’ve had it with”. I understand where it’s coming from on both sides! The feminism movement when I was a kid was championing women to be in the workforce like men are. It took so much time to catch up and it’s still not perfect but over time more women stepped into those roles. Amazing work and it must have taken an immense amount of dedication. If you think about the women in that situation that were a part of that wave of feminism, women were starting so far back compared to where the men were. That’s how it feels for us in this age range but this time its generations starting at different points, aka inflation and the job market (entry-level jobs requiring at least 5-7 years of experience in some cases & by those standards we would’ve been 16-18 working in a job that required a college degree). I want to work to live not live to work and live now while the planet still allows. The purpose part I think is coming from a sense of trying to figure out who we are and I think if this conversation would’ve gone down the path of, “no one has one purpose in life. Your job does not define who you are and rather it supports you to be the person you want to be.”, it could’ve been really good to hear from two successful women! I know also that I don’t want to compromise myself by working for a company that actively is hurting communities of people I care for. I just can’t justify it and of course, many people don’t have that luxury, but if more people were able to work for people and businesses that had their best interests in mind, we would feel more inclined to apply for those jobs. Unfortunately, a lot of what I would be fulfilled in is never a paid position .. aka helping out in the community. It’s also hard to have these conversations with our parents and their generation because it was founded on hustle culture and working for a living. For my generation to feel comfortable in the workforce, we are not willing to accept less than the bare minimum. That also means changing the structures of things to accommodate for the necessary changes which may, in turn, offend people of my parents' generation (they’re 60) because that’s their life work. It was the best it could be then, the same concept as you only know as much as you know, but now it’s time for us to modernize these systems to benefit everyone, not just the people who founded it. We’re a product of our environments American children from my generation were brought up around immense loss, violence, & hate never seen to this extent before. Marking our memories in the timelines in our heads based on where America was in the war. It’s not crazy to understand why we want to minimize the suffering we’ve seen that has been amplified throughout our existence. The inventions of the late 1900s and the early 2000s shaped us and we’re finally seeing the results of these massive changes humans transitioned to so quickly. We just want to be treated like humans and maybe have a little compassion for each generation as we’re all just trying to figure it out. With the world being in the state it’s in, we are just trying to survive at a livable level.
