@quantumjet2534 ай бұрын
Respectfully I do not agree with these experts at all. I've been following the Trump/Presidency-drama for a long time now. I'm not American, I've no horse in the race, I'm just fascinated by how the general population, the media, and Democratic commentators are reporting, discussing and handling a genuine enemy of the nation/democracy... specifically in how it must come across to the single most important people in the US... the undecided! And I think almost everyone, almost all the time is failing!!! There are people who outright believe Trump, or just don't care what he says. Both sides have blind-faith supporters, and actual policies (or a complete lack of in Trump's case) doesn't really matter. But as much as Trump outright lies to his supporters to make himself look good, and demeans and insults his rivals to make them appear 'incompetent' (now that's the biggest joke he's ever told, or the most extreme-sarcasm), I think the way Democratic/Dem-aligned people seem like they're relying on propaganda to undermine Trump. I don't understand how anyone supports Trump, no more do I understand how anyone is undecided, but I find it hard to believe they consider this Democratic propaganda campaign to be any more credible than Trump's outright lies. Here's a couple of examples... 1. The boat/shark story. As ridiculous as it is, it's simply an immature, and incredibly unintelligent attempt to suggest a Democratic government want instantly do away with all conventional fuel motors and have all transport powered by batteries. The moral of his story is that batteries in boats, ie, electricity and water are dangerous, so much so if a battery-powered boat starts to sink and its battery is then in contact with water, it's paramount to dropping a lamp into a bath... as deadly as facing a shark. It's stupid, it's ridiculous, but when people claim it's some wild, crazy story that must look bad to those undecided voters. 2. The Hannibal Lecter 'joke'. Trump's not a funny person. But he saw how Biden was able to make a crowd genuinely laugh, and Trump wanted in on that. Recognises that people instatly warm to public speakers with the charisma and intelligence to add a little humour to an otherwise dry speech. The line about Hannibal "having a friend over for dinner", told by a comedian, in some kind of context would work. In a political rally, simply spewing that out to a crowd didn't work. It was an incredibly poor attempt at humour and completely out of place. But Democratic-aligned news/commentators, etc, use it to suggest Trump's losing his mind, or is just weird I don't think works. Perhaps some undecided voters don't understand that it's an attempt at humor but any that do will instantly see through the propaganda! 3. I'm also not entirely convinced using 'cognitive decline', and the multitude of other speaking issues against him work to undermine him to those undecided voters. They're so few and far between, the rest of the time, albeit he's spewing lie after lie, he speaks very normally. In that infamous debate I don't think he 'glitched' at all, or at least nothing like his absolute worst. And undecided voters see that, and if they're inclined to look past his constant dishonesty, his complete lack of intelligence, a lifetime of fraud, his desperate grifting, tax-dodging ways, lack of self-esteem/weakness that manifests itself into him constantly speaking disrespectfully of others, and using school playground insults, and importantly the fact he's a s-offender and traitor to the nation, etc, I don't think those people will turn around and say "good point, he said oranges instead of origins... definitely can't vote him now!". I don't see why so many dance around a far simpler strategy. Trump is incredibly lazy, shallow and dumb! That has meant rather than care to discuss and work out policies, to be armed with a strategy to pull in voters, he relies on a handful of outright unintelligent sound-bites, a couple of stupid stories, and has no ability to actually answer genuine questions or discuss what his presidency would look like on an intellectual level. He's also a drug user! Why'd the coke in the White House story, found immediately upon Biden getting in get dropped by everyone? Are people assuming his son came over to do some lines with dad? That was absolutely DJTs! There's a strange compliment, perhaps to counter the negative things Democratic commentator use which seems odd too; suggesting he's charismatic, a salesman, a good marketer! Really? Didn't help his casino, didn't help his airline, didn't help his university, didn't help his alcohol, isn't helping his social media website, and I'm not convinced its selling stupid sneakers, or bits of cloth supposedly from one of his suits... outside his biggest, blindest supporters. Oh, and finally. I wish more people would bring up his mini-stroke (you even have a picture of proof on the thumbnail to this video... there were several examples for a short while, soon after his brief late night visit to a hospital while he was liar-in-Chief where he openly demonstrated how his right arm/hand were affected by the condition). In particular whenever he talks about being fit, or strong, and all the other lies he spews about being, what was it, healthier than Obama!!! It's a serious condition and not to be referenced lightly, but it's a very important condition that all voters should have been made aware of. Look I know this message will get deleted as it's too raw; it's not soft enough for a US audience that would rather just hear 'cognitive decline', and even though Biden would have won, and Harrison will, I believe there will be voters who could have been pulled over had the Democratic-aligned commentators dropped the soft-propaganda for hard-headed, genuine insulting facts about the loser Trump! (...an approach I'm actually expecting from Kamala; and I hope that encourages a slightly different approach to undermine the 'man').

There is no documentation he ever was asked to register for his junior year--no documentation he was asked and none on not asking him--it's a 1-of situation. There should be something. Lots of speculation on why he was not included in registrations for Fall classes and waited till October to apply to transfer. Prof ordered to write recommendation letter said he was told Trump's father wrote a huge check. Also said Trump was the stupidest student he ever had, regretted a smarter more deserving kid was not given that spot in the class. Funny--Jared's high school counselor said that same thing about a brighter kid should have had that opportunity when Jared got to go to Harvard. It would've been nice if they had prepared Biden for PROCESS, e.g. to say, "Donald, you're spewing diarrhea to try to derail this conversation. STFU and let me finish my goddamn sentence." *Nobody* can think fast enough to get past a Gish Gallup unless they are thoroughly prepared for what it is and how to cope… especially not someone sensitive and intelligent as our incredible 46th president. I listen to lectures by Kip Thorne, and to a lesser extent Leonard Susskind, and the subject matter hasn't changed that much (it does get updates, which is why I watch, but they're incremental), and it has become very difficult to listen to Thorne for very long because he stutters quite badly at this point. It almost sounds like Tourette's at times. Leonard Susskind doesn't stutter, but he does take longer pauses to pull words out of his memory than he used to. And I'd say that overall, both of these guys are still functioning just fine. As a more extreme example, look at Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe. He can't sing his own lyrics anything close to accurately (kick stomp my honk, anyone?), but he talks fine and makes sense when he's not trying to sing. The flip side of that is Ozzy, who can still sing but has been completely incomprehensible otherwise for _decades._ Between the two of them, I'd put a lot more faith in the one who can no longer do his job, as long as the task is _literally anything else._

I watched Joe's debate a second time for a fresh understanding. What I saw was a man who was so shocked at Trump's machine gun blasting of lies, known as the unsavory debate style Gish Gallop, that his jaw actually dropped momentarily before he lowered his head. Biden wasn't having a Mitch McConnell moment, Biden was clearly rethinking all his debate prep for an understanding how to combat Trump. I literally had an image of wheels turning in Biden's brain, as he thought this out. Later it became obvious his pre-debate prep was all wrong for Donald Trump. Trump has no interest in debating actual facts and policies, he lied as usual, whereas Biden came out prepared for a gentleman's debate on policy. Next day at his rally he was angry and told the crowd that he would be himself from then on and talk like he always had before. He'd clearly been prepped wrong. "I beat medicare" wasn't a glitch, his mike was cut off before he could explain that he beat medical high costs of pharmaceuticals. I also believe the way Tapper and Bash treated him vs their soft ball treatment of DJT was abhorrent. Dana Bash was almost rude to President Biden.

What every one fails to take note of is that if one reads a transcript of that debate, Trump showed energy and a strong voice which provided good optics in contrast to Biden, however, Biden answered the questions completely and correctly, except for the last question; while Trump lied, deflected and answered only one question. If a stutterer is ill or severely stressed the stutter increases. Sadly, Biden was backed into a political corner and could not politically reschedule the debate until he had recovered from his illness.

Thank you, Dr. Gartner, for bringing up Biden’s stuttering. My mother was a severe stutterer who became a speech therapist and worked with stutterers. I grew up hearing her talk about stuttering and observing her own lifelong struggles with stuttering. I’m sure she had many colleagues who never knew she stuttered, but I learned from her that stuttering is not something that can be “cured“. It can be dealt with to a great extent with hard work and careful attention, but weariness and having to pay close attention to something else always increase the risk of a slip. I admire Biden immensely for having tackled a career that inevitably involved so much public speaking. He’s done brilliantly at controlling his stutter.

I watched some of the debate live from the UK and was quite shaken by Biden's performance. I saw some footage of him talking to people the next day and he seemed completely different - so full of vigor, energised and with a strong voice. It seems pretty clear to me now (several weeks later) that Biden is still capable, but perhaps not quite as resilient as he was as a younger man. While I have no concerns about his ability to continue to do the job for another term, it's pretty clear that many others were worried and that those fears have been assuaged by a change in candidate. The level of support for Harris so far is astonishing. It's refreshing to see the media, without the target of Biden to aim for, stumbling around and occasionally realising that Trump regularly puts in truly terrifying displays - not only of absolute falsehoods and hatred, but also of nonsensical word salads and some noises that tried to be words but didn't quite make it. So, Biden clearing the path has (so far) had at least two positive outcomes.

As an internist who works in the ER, I can tell you, older ppl can develop an acute delirium during illness. I'm fairly certain this was going on with Biden that night. Delirium in older ppl clears as the illness clears.

@@cindysavage265 For over 30 years I have been completely cut off from consensual reality every time I become seriously ill. Whenever I lose myself in that way, I know that it is happening when it starts, & before I am totally lost to myself & the world, I am afraid that I will never come back. The experience is terrifying. People need to know more about this, even doctors. I have been denied care at a hospital when in that condition & my friends were told to just take me home. Instead they took me to a different hospital where I was treated for 3 separate infections & stayed a week. If they had taken me home, I would’ve been dead in a matter of hours. As it was, it was a very near thing.

As a 75 year old with a stammer which I developed after a brain infection & aphasia which I developed after a TBI, I always warn people that I may have some difficulty in finding &/or getting out the right word. And once I establish that, it becomes less of an issue. Of course I want to keep things simple & straightforward when dealing with others by being open & honest about my communication issues. Trump has no such motivation. I believe that he would see that as a display of weakness. But what do I know?

Thank you for the comment and insight on stuttering. Being married to someone afflicted with this condition I have often commented ( even in Biden earlier years!) that any challenges in his speech were due to that. I didn’t hear a bumbler. I heard my spouse struggling to find proper words in the proper moment. Biden exhibited this same behavior I hear often

I haven't heard this mentioned anywhere, but I sense that, as a loving father, President Biden's personal grief around the ordeal of Hunter's trial may have contributed to his overall fatigue and speech struggles. Deep grief is very debilitating.

@@peacemonger766 I wish, it was so. His very low approval ratings shows, that Americans neither get, all he has done, nor do they give him credit for anything. 1 of the most astounding things, I observed, after he withdrew as a candidate and masterfully orchestrated Harris's candidacy without the usual Dem chaos, was, that suddenly ppl were flocking to Harris (which is good, we need that), but they were suddenly giving her credit for all the things, theyve refused to give Biden credit for actually doing, and they cheered about the policies, that are the exact same policies as b4! I just cant get my head around that.

Thanks for having Gartner and Landsberg on...I supported and signed the petition of 'Duty to Warn' back in 2017. I hope that all of Gartner's and Dr. Bandy X Lee's work bears fruit this November and Kamala is elected. As a clinician, I have to say that when 34 was first elected I had clients coming into session with depression and anxiety and PTSD flashbacks - over and over I had clients saying "oh my God...he (34) is just like my ex who drank and never took responsibility" or "he is just like my dad who cheated on my mom and was abusive...my dad would rage and when there is a rager in the house there is no room for anyone else!" There were articles in Psychological Journals about how to help clients having emotional reactivity to 34's election! Can you imagine that! We had to become aware of a nation wide clinical issue in order to help our clients! Keep up the great work so we can end this nightmare in November.

How was he treated poorly? He ran on the premise that he would be a one term President because of his age. America hated a Trump vs Biden rerun. The hate currently is for Trump only. For now. Biden was told by his staff that he was senile and shouldn't seek another term two years ago. I don't wanna hear about a cold. Joe didn't listen to his staff and got embarrassed by a lying lunatic in front of the World. He still wouldn't step down, so the Dems had to force him out. That was the right call and I respect Biden for not going on a public grievance tour like Trump would have. The results so for speak for themselves, no?
