This is one of the most underrated songs in all of Zelda! Amazing job with this!

Thank you very much Jacob! I couldn't agree more - really hoping it'll eventually make a return in a future game!

Easily the best remix I have heard of this theme in ages, and it sounds even more like The Imperial March than the original.

Thank you so much! I listened to a lot of Shostakovich, John Williams and Gustav Holst when arranging this - I wanted to get as much intensity and power as possible out of the brass section, so I looked back on their past pieces and tried to mimic how they shaped the ensemble (then added the choir and strings in for that bit of dramatic flair) : )

Love it!! You've really captured the power and intensity of this song. Such a classic tune

Thank you pixel! It took me quite a while to get the brass section to sound as 'epic' as it could, haha - I really wanted to get that feeling of raw power across as much as possible. Plenty of Fortississimo markings!

It just occurred to me how similar the Death Mountain theme is to the song that plays in the World 8 Tank level in Super Mario Bros 3
@MatthewNewsomeComposer5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're both very reminiscent of each other! One could say it's just a coincidence (but I think it's more Mr. Kondo loves writing all of his dark/intense songs in C Minor, haha)
@Gamedraco5 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewNewsomeComposer No coincidence here when SMB3 Airship sounds practically identical to the first part of Mars: The Bringer of War by Gustav Holt, and Death Mountain from ALttP sounding so close to The Imperial March that Nintendo would probably get sued for using the song too much. Mars: The Bringer of War is also a huge inspiration for The Imperial March as well.

@Gamedraco It's always amazing to find all the sources of inspiration game composers use. There's a whole varying bunch of very esoteric sources Koji Kondo probably used - In April, one of Deep Purple's longest and most experimental tracks, you can hear a similar progression to the Zelda main theme at 0:30, as well as the end segment to the dungeon theme from the first game at 2:00. There's also other tracks you might find sound familiar; the Concerto For Philodendron & Pothos in the Plantasia album by Mort Garson, Let's Not Talk About It by Friendship, Philip Glass - Evening Song Act III Pt. 3 and a quite probably a whole lot more!
