I feel that it would be much better if they made a whole extended season 2 and work the plot properly rather than these 12+ episodes (since ep 25). I don't think it was bad, otherwise wouldn't be at my top 3 anime, but I do think things happened too fast. I guess this is the reason why people say that is not the same thing after L's death. But in any case, the manga is perfect. The adaptation almost reached this goal tho, if they have made 25+25 episodes and didn't rushed things

For everyone that dosent understand, how Near knows that Mikami is X-Kira. Near just figured out the person most likely to be contacted by Light (Kira) while being under close watch unable to do much. From reddit r/deathnote poster A-N-H, cheers to him, surmises it pretty good with more explicit detail from the manga, where being a reading medium, they kinda have to spell it out. "After Demegawa was killed, it took an entire week for Takada to announce being the new spokesperson for Kira. Near deduced that this one week gap meant that there were no instructions from Kira to X-Kira, and that's why X-Kira was waiting for contact from Kira, but since Light was being watched by Aizawa and the others, X-Kira chose Takada on his own. Near then asked the question, why Takada ? She was not that experienced, and, although popular, she wasn't the 1st ranked in votes. Near deduced that the answer is, because she was a Kira admirer, and since she never announced her suport for Kira before, then X-Kira must've met her personally at one point. Near then began watching all of Takada's interviews since she 1st became an announcer. He realized Mikami appeared with her twice on two separate occasions. Near remembered seeing Mikami in "Kira's Kingdom" (Demegawa's show), so he went back to it. Mikami appeared in "Kira's Kingdom" 4 days after Demegawa's death, and he spoke directly asking Kira to give him instructions, and saying that without his direction, he'll have to speculate Kira's ideas and act accordingly. After 4 days from this appearance, Takada was chosen as the new spokesperson for Kira. Also, when in one of the interviews with Takada, Mikami talked about how crimes are increasing because young people are not using their capacities to contribute to society, which was very similar to what Takada said, on behalf of Kira, about killing people who don't use their talents for the good of society. Based on all of the above, Near deduced the following: Mikami was X-Kira, he killed Demegawa when he went overboard, and waited for new instructions from Kira, after 4 days, he sent a message to Kira through TV, asking for instructions and declaring that he'll have to act on his own if he doesn't receive any, he then waited for another 4 days for instructions, then he chose a new spokesperson, Takada, which he has met before on more than one occasion and presumably got a chance to talk with her and knew she was a Kira admirer."

Yeah but I still think this is too much and they (producers/writers) didn't explained properly his thoughts (if so, you wouldn't need to make this text and make their job explaining all these points). L's thoughts, in the other hand, were more well developed - this is why many people don't like that much of the "second" plot. In any case, I think the main problem in all of this matter is: they rushed things too much after L's death, and because of that, many things got confusing

@@Noone-uo2cf Actually everything I explained, gets explained in the manga from Near during the scene. In the anime, they do this weird, awkward glowing eye thing, while in the manga Near explains all of his thoughts. Hell he even is wrong sometimes. Near is so different in the manga, because they left out many scenes from the second half. L dies in the middle of number 7 and there are 12 mangas. This means they made 5 and a half manga, into 10 episodes. 2 episodes for each manga, is not nearly enough to show everything good, express thoughts or flesh out characters, while the first half got 4-5 episodes for each manga. The second half is in my opinion better then the first in the manga and I hate how much hate it becomes, because the anime left stuff out. Near is my favorit character, because he is so different then L.

@@Ghost_of_Gaby The second half of the anime cut out A LOT, changing parts of the ending, cutting an epilouge that plays on year after the ending, chaning lots of Nears character, making Near; Light and Mello a lot flater and luckier/dumber than they actually are and cuts really great scenes like Near and Mello wroking together for a moment to play good cop and bad cop to get information out of someone and a scene where Mello threatens a third world war on the US. So yeah.

Near suspecting and actively beginning investigations into Mikami by noticing him on TV? I call Bullshit to that. So unrealistic with all the worshipers, believers, and the like. It's like finding a Deathnote user in a sea of Trump Supporters. How do you differentiate all that craziness and pick that "One" guy? Author couldn't find a better way for him to be investigated, so we'll use "SUPER BRAIN POWER" that Near has figure out who X-Kira is. Just a bunch of bullshit, never liked that scene *coughs up blood*
