Seems like the Normies are confused on the status of the Death Notes, so I'mma explain. There are three Death Notes in play (excluding the one Ryuk keeps on him). *Original Death Note:* This is the Death Note Ryuk obtained, that he wrote the rules inside in English, and wrote "DEATH NOTE" in English on the cover. Since he needed a Death Note with rules so he can add fake rules and use it to clear his name, this notebook needed to be apprehended by the Task Force, which meant Higuchi needed to own this book. But since Ryuk is a Shinigami who is neutral & will not cooperate + Ryuk will be visible to the Task Force if he's attached to the book, Light has Ryuk & Rem swap ownership of this Death Note & Misa's. Therefore, the Task Force sees Rem, and not Ryuk. And since Light planned for Rem to kill herself, now the Task Force sees no Shinigami. *_This Death Note currently has no Shinigami attached & is kept hidden by the Task Force_* *Gelus/Misa's Death Note:* This is the Death Note Misa Amane had. Rem was initially the Shinigami attached to it, but due to the swap, Ryuk is now attached to it. Light physically owns it, but Misa is the official owner, which means while Light can see & talk to Ryuk, Ryuk is actually attached to Misa. *_The Task Force knows that this second Death Note exists, and believe Kira is using it_* *Rem's Death Note:* This is the third Death Note in play. Originally Rem's own Death Note, used to kill Watari & L. After Rem's death, Light picked up this notebook from her ashes & now uses it as his main Death Note. It has no writing on the inside or outside nor does it have a Shinigami attached to it. *_The Task Force does NOT know of this book's existence_*

L being unable to find the evidence to convict Light as Kira is a clever commentary on the nature of the justice system: You can hold yourself to the system as much as you like and put all your faith in it, but there will always be those out there that abuse that system to escape and suit their own ends. If the system (as well as L's own convictions) were not so air-tight and frigid, Light might have been convicted. But the rules HAVE to be airtight to ensure the innocent are not unjustly punished; it's an enigma that persists to this very day, and shows how timeless Death Note is.

Never forget that L figured out where Light lived in 1 episode and caught him in 14 episodes. Light only got away because he had actual death magic on his side. In a world where L knew all about the death note, this would've been a 12 episode wrap up.

To be honest fuck them lmao The second half of the show might be not as good, but it isn't bad at all, I actually think it's actually good and never felt it was worse than the first half. Maybe it's because I experienced Death Note through the manga first, and the second half of the story is certainly handled better there, in the show they kinda cut some things or didn't explain very well some developments if I remember correctly. But still good. And even if the first half is better, it's not like Death Note is a 100+ episode series, so it isn't really a slog in any moment.

Connected but no proof that she was the killer, she never admitted to it and no way to know she killed the people so after the killings started again they had no choice but to let her go and even then she was still watched 24/7 because she was still suspected so no not just to advance the plot

One is buried in the ground in some forest. One is Rem's notebook that light took after she died and task force members are not aware of that. No spoilers but there are 4 notebooks one is the notebook that Ryuk has and belongs to him, one is the note book that Misa has that first Rem gave to her and used to belong to the Shinigami that saved Misa but now it is given to Misa by Ryuk and then there is the note book that belongs to Light who's ownership was shifted from Ryuk to Rem and Light got by killing Higuchi, this is notebook that has fake rules written in it and the only notebook known to everyone also this is the first notebook that was shown to us and was picked by Light and the last notebook also belongs to Light as he took from Rem after his death and it originally belonged to Rem and also was used by Rem to kill L and Watari.

I don't think they do a good enough job explaining the distribution of the Death Notes here. It's just left for you to follow. There are actually 3 notebooks in play right now but there are 4 in total. 1. Light's - The one Higuchi was using and is now hidden. 2. Misa's - Originally Jealous' and given to Misa by Rem. Last we saw was burried under a tree. 3. Rem's - Light took for himself after Rem died. 4. Ryuk's - Ryuk still has possession of.

Im tired of hearing the dude on the farthest right talk about how he would catch or arrest light. Its another case of the fact that you get to see both sides of the story and thinking you would make the smarter choice when in reality if you never saw what light was planning you would make choices like the rest of normal characters. Also Ik the blonde lady hates the way light does things to create a safer world but i bet her version of making the world safer wouldnt be morally perfect either. She just wants people to know she's a better person for doing things the right way putting those thoughts on a anime like death note is boring and pointless.

So Rem and Ryuk both had two Deathnotes. Ryuk got his second one by tricking it away from the Shinigami King while Rem got hers from the shinigami that killed himself protecting Misa Misa. Ryuk dropped one of his which Light picked up and Rem gave Misa the dead shinigami's notebook. Rem just died so Light got her notebook. Light has two notebooks, one of which was taken by Daddy Yagami. Misa has a notebook, and the Ryuk has the fourth notebook.

According to the interview, the Death note Author(story author) actually revealed that he tried to end the manga with L's dead. However, Shounen Jump(a magazine company that publicized famous mangas such as Death Note, Dragonball, Bleach, Naruto, HunterXhunter) wouldn't let him ended this fast. Imagine a company has a big-money business(Death note in this case). They don't wanna end or throw out a big profit. Of course a manga author has a right to end his/her creation(if an author didn't sign on a speical contract with a company). But most they just can't end freely because of social pressure, contract, etcs. Only very famous/popular authors(such as dragonball, onepiece naruto's) can do anything whatever they do. Imagine this example) HunterXhunter author barely work a few times per year whenever he feels to wanna work. He doesn't work at all at 'some year'. But the company can't fire him because of popularity and reputation. If he moves on another company or can't draw in a company, big money will be gone. There are tons of manga magazine companies in japan, and they are all competitive each other. Sadly, even a reputated author like the Death note author can't deny the company, even if Death note was sold more than millions. The death note author wrote interesting essay about his experience as a manga author and the magazines, companies, organizations, business and social aspects. He mentioned, 'It's not realistic that a manga author doesn't have to work at all for entire life even if he had ONE great success before. Living expenses matter. Of course again, exceptional case exists: Very popular manga authors(such as Dragonaball, one piece, naruto author classes) don't have to worry about working or living expenses Death note author showed an interesting data:his own income and budget. Which meant, if he wouldn't get a job in next 10 years just after ended Death Note, he would die financially. In fact, they(the story author+art author) drew a few of other mangas after Death note(Bakuman, Platinum End, etcs) One line conclusion: In most cases, the autohrs can't end/finish up their creation as they want.

@@SmoovyNovaFan Light is a very cool and entertaining character, but he has the shallow understanding of the world that you would expect from the son of a cop (which gives more weight to the interpretation that he never cared about justice and it was just a rationalization for his ego trip). After years using the Death Note, the only thing Light manages to do is make criminals more desperate and organized crime more powerful. Punitive measures don't work to eliminate crime. If he really wanted to end crime it would've been much more effective to make a list of the riches people on earth and everyone who profits with the military industrial complex, and kill them with accidents or diseases from top to bottom.
