Sad about your friend, wonderful memories, - I am 81 like you and have lost all of my 4 siblings, my husband and so many friends, quilting and couples- of my 5 Boston friends still here, all husbands gone - -we are all going through the same thing at this age, - you are lucky to not be alone - couldn’t your blessings.

I stayed for the 2nd part. What a cute story. Sounds familiar of the times. My girlfriend and I did the same. We'd pretend to be asleep, then when all was quite, we'd go out the window. Her bedroom was upstairs, and there was a huge balcony right outside her window. We'd just go out and sit; look at the stars; make all sorts of plans about our future. It was such fun. And you are right - back in those days, we'd walk and walk, everywhere we wanted to go. We didn't have cars. And we never worried. It was a safe little country town. Everyone knew everyone. Wouldn't trade that childhood for anything.

I also felt the same way, when both of my parents had passed away. My mother died in January 2017, on my birthday. So now every birthday is bittersweet ❤️💔 Then my best friend died in december the next year... I felt so lost, it was like too much to take in, I didn't understand, I still have a hard time accepting that they are gone. But then some things happened to me, I got very ill in 2021, and again in November 2022. I survived, Jesus saved me 💕🙏 I'm so thankful for that, and I understand things better than before. I think so anyway 😊 We did a lot of crazy things, me and my best friend....oh, the stories I could tell 🥰 And I am so sorry for your loss of your friend ❤️💔 I do hope we all meet again 🙏❤️❤️❤️⭐

Condolences on the loss of your friend. Drive Ins were great family fun and probably fun for gfs/bfs. We went to Montana last year and there was a drive in. The cars were backed up waiting to get in. I thought that was fantastic. Girls don't care at that age of 16, they just want to be safe and have fun. You 2 did that bcuz that's who you felt more safe with and enjoyed yr familiar guy friends company. Maybe those other boys learned a lesson; sure it was for the best. Am sure you have many stories. Same happened with my best friend after she met a man or two, we really didn't see each other much again. It's a new phase of life and one can hope it circles back around again b4 time is up. I saw him walking around looking ,so I hurried and got on the ferris wheel. I thought he had given up , but when I got off of the ride he had seen me up there and was promptly waiting for me . He kissed with his teeth , it was horrible. I just couldn’t say no if a guy ask me out in person looking me in the eye . 😂😂 Ps; I’m very sorry for the loss of your friend ❤❤❤

Most women would love to have any one of your bad hair days, I'm sure of that! Of course, I dont think you are bad coz of that story!!! Hell no! It was fun days!! Your drive in story brought back memories of a joke I heard. A female reported to work and said they found my brother finally. Her coworkers said oh great what happened? She said He is in hospital with severe hyperthermia. He was so dumb that they found him at the drive in alone and all the big sign said at the drive in was CLOSED FOR WINTER!! 😂 Oops! First, my condolences on the loss of your friend, Dina. Second, you did nothing wrong by leaving those boys in the dust with their hot dogs and popcorn. They refused to take no for an answer, so you were compelled to protect yourselves. If you hadn’t done so, you could have been at risk for date rape.
