Hi Mr. Miller! I know there's only a small chance you'll read this, but I am an aspiring swimmer and just wanted to tell you what a great influence you are! It really gets me pumped to see that early morning swim practice doesn't have to be terrible, lol. But on a serious note I'm a huge fan and I really appreciate how you have shared so much with us! Thanks, and hope to see more vlogs! XD

yeah, but it's also really hard to see if you're wearing outdoor goggles when it's dark out, i've done that before when i've been at a long meet, and it defnitely sucks

Breaststroke pulls for time just seems like a bad idea, but then again, look at Adam Peaty and not just his upper body strength but the velocity he gets from the damn pulls. So kudos to Coach Ray for this focus on developing pulls and that feel for "grabbing" the water.

thanks for sharing your experiences to us, Iam a refugee from Afghanistan and my dream is to become an Olympic champion and more importantly be the best version of myself but sadly because iam an refugee their are alot of limitation including participation in alot of swimming meets because iam not the citizen of the country and this matter hurts me alot which i cannot participate in the meets and sometimes it is very difficult to break your PB in training which i done alittle. So my question is this that is it a big matter for a swimmer which only participate in swimming competation once or twice a year or does it really improve your swimming? I will be happy if you answer my question and BTW iam 16 yo.

Just make the best with what you have! You’re not alone. Not everyone has access to everything they want! As long as you maximize the opportunities you have you’ll be making progress. That’s all that matters.

Participating in meets definitely gives you experience, but you mostly improve in practice. Also, thank you so much for sharing your story - I never realized how not being a citizen of a country can affect you in so many ways.

Hey Cody,I know I’m three days late to ask but I’m a new swimmer this year and I’m in 8th grade. I have been moved up finally to the middle group with a couple other 8th and 7th graders. It’s fun but sometimes I can’t do the workout fully because it’s a lot harder than the workout I was used to.i just wanted to ask if 37.59 is a good time for a 50? I don’t believe it is but my friends say it’s a decent time. Also my best friend who got me into swimming had been in the lower group the full year I wasn’t there and was moved up at the beginning of the season and I’ve only been swimming for two months and I’ve caught up to her. She knows that I’ll pass her and just wants me to work on flipping properly and then she says I’ll drop time. I have an invitational meet in two weeks. I hope to drop a good amount of time but my stroke itself is apparently beautiful and I just need to fix the turns, do you have any advice to help me with them? Sorry for the comment being so long :\

Hey Cody awesome vlogs! I have a question. So I swam for My club team for USA swimming from the time I was 3 until I was 12 and had some good accomplishments but then got burned out of swimming so I took off a couple years and have only been training 3 months a year for high school. just finished my high school swim career and had some good times for the amount of training I’d done (46.6 scy 100 free 21.1 scy 50 free). It’s been difficult for me to decide whether I want to continue swimming in college or not. I know that if I went back to training all year I could do some awesome things and you make swimming look like so much fun again I’m just worried I’ll get burned out over the much more intense training. What’s your advice/opinion? Thanks!

Omg we use tempo trainers! They are torture. I think ours is a lot harder because we use mode two. That’s the one where you put a goal time and try to “beat the beep” we do something like 15 x 50, 200 easy, 15 x 50’s. They are all sprint. We are all twelve. Edit: I think you should try it.
