Owl House, cause it's closest to ending, so you can get the full series sooner. Dragon Prince is approached it's fourth season, and Young Justice just concluded its fourth season with no end in sight. Owl House, unfortunately (for reasons you'll soon learn from the VERY protective fanbase), had it's third and final season cut short to three 45-minute specials, with the first of which coming in a couple weeks. Plus, the show freaking rocks. You'll find out.

Jinx: "Make her go away. Please." That line confused me for a while. I knew it had to go deeper than, "lol look how crazy jinx is." This scene is truly devastating once you realized what jinx is really asking Vi in that moment. The line is a callback to Vi making Jinxe's monsters go away when they were children. Remember Vi's story to caitlyn about chasing Powder's monsters away and then think about how Jinx views Caitlyn on the bridge. As this kind of demonic monster that's trying to replace her in Vi's heart. Jinx isn't just asking Vi to kill Caitlyn, she wants her big sister to make the monsters go away. When she refuses it confirms Jinx's worst fears. "I thought maybe you could love me like you used too, even though I'm different. BUT YOU CHANGED TOO."

That's my take as well. And when she states that "But you changed too" line, it even cuts to a shot of Caitlin, sort of driving that point home.
@Hohum37

@@Mi_Z I'm less sure. Jinx doesn't hallucinate Caitlyn as a monster in the dinner scene, even when they are pointing guns and shooting at each other. She's testing Vi. Sure, she is referring to how she made monsters go away in her childhood, but she's doing it intentionally. I think, during this scene Jinx actually comes to terms with the idea that Caitlyn isn't a monster. She has ample opportunity to kill her after she kills Silco. (She's killed downed, hated opponents before.) I believe she doesn't, because she still loves Vi, and doesn't want to hurt her.
@Mi_Z

@@Hohum37 I view it as intentional as well... I don't think Jinx thinks of Caitlyn literally as a monster. At least not in the scene we are referring to ... on the bridge, maybe a bit more so. It's a test. I view the entire tea party scene as one big test.

@@Hohum37 personally I think it's perspective. Not just the bridge but even the scene where she's being injected with shimmer, she sees caitlyn as a monster. She was also ready to kill caitlyn, she did point the gun and knowing jinx's lack of care for others lives she would have done it too. However, she only stops because vi speaks up and offers something she hasn't consider "we go away, you'll never have to see him again". This catches her off guard. Because it doesn't just mean running from silco, it means running from caitlyn as well. I do think jinx sees caitlyn as a monster. It's been etched into her mind ever since sevika brought it up "she's with some girl enforcer, guess she replaced you". That and pair it with jinx's lack of regard for human life she could easily see her as a monster.

Need to get this out there: the arcane shield is NOT a designed feature of the Atlas Gauntlets. (You don't need a shield for mining.) The spontaneous shield is likely a feature OF THE ARCANE. Remember: "the arcane speaks THROUGH them." So Vi clearly thought that she needed protection in that moment and the arcane responded to her need. Also, take note: Jayce wears an arcane gem in his cuff and he is faced with a similar need at the very end of the season... so the arcane will do... what? ;-)

Interesting bit of speculation for season 2: If Mel dies because of Jinx's attack, her mom is going to go complete the other way and become even more brutal and ruthless to try to avenge her daughters death - key reason why I think Mel won't make it to season 2 (or if she does, she'll be severely injured) the potential for drama between Mel's Mom and Jinx is just too great, and they'd be fools to pass it up (unless of course they think of something way better, that hasn't even occurred to me).

I love that the title not only refers to the obvious creation of Jinx but also refers to Caitltyn. Cuz when Vi and Cait were laying on her bed and Vi talked about how her and Powder pretended to be bigger monsters, then Vi would pretend to chase her own monsters away when Powder would get scared. Thats exactly what happened in the last scene, Jinx saw Caitlyn as this monster that Vi created and she was too scared to get rid of it, so she gave her big sister the gun and asked her once again to "make her go away", to make the big scary monster go away.

This show masterfully creates tension. They did so many things to set up that scene. 1. You see Jinx appear in Caitlyn's room at the end of episode 8 and she drew her "monkey". Every time we've seen this, people were killed by Jinx- The Firelights in the ship, the Enforcers in the fire and later on the bridge, and of course that originated from the monkey bomb in episode 3. 2. You don't see Caitlyn for the entirety of episode 9 until that scene- even though they showed everyone else involved already. 3. We already know Jinx is unhinged, but with shimmer in her system there's no telling how much more she could be. Basically they planted all the seeds to it from the beginning and it really just goes to show how much care and attention was put into it.

My first impression was that he pulled he gun on Vi because he was afraid of losing Jinx. But like you, now I am leaning towards the idea it was because Vi was sending Jinx into PTSD-land, and it was the only way he could stop her. Question I have is: Did he wish to kill Vi, or did he shoot at her (not necessarily to kill her), to get her to stop? We all know that Silco wouldn't mind killing Vi, but would he wish to do so in front of Jinx? Logically we'd say probably not... but it's not like everyone in that room was acting so logically at that moment. So not sure... that seems open to interpretation.

The scene of Vi telling Jayce that Piltover has a huge part of the responsibilty for everything that has happened in the Undercity is the thing I believe made Jayce try to give the Undercity its independence, along with his experience in the Shimmer factory and realizing just how incompetent the Council really is. Not only does the Undercity have terrible conditions, but Piltover also exploited what little resources they had and they did it by using its citizens for labor. Then the Council ignores all of their pleas, bad conditions and anger and suddenly they're surprised the people are causing an uprising. Like Vi said, all of the things in the Undercity are caused by the Council using them and then burying their head in the sand while the people are suffering and kingpins and people that are able to exploit everything use the situation to their advantage.

Yeah, and I think he also recognizes that if Jayce destroys the core, he'll lose his legs again. Problem is, from a story writing perspective, it would be really unlikely that the core will be destroyed with how much attention and foreshadowing they have given it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this is going to end up the real threat which might even unite the top and under city. It might also cause the topsiders to seek refugee in the undercity since the core is at the moment topside, which could also lead to some interesting dynamics as the "power" would then be switched and it is the under city which now hold power over the lives of the topsiders. Just speculation ofcourse.

This episode (more than any other in the show) always sparks a huge debate about how genuine is the love Silco *and* Vi have for Jinx, and I think that debating that is a huge misenterpretation of both of their characters. There's absolutely no question whether Silco was good for Jinx and manipulative, even though he didn't mean to be any of those things, but to question the fact that Silco loves her is also foolish. On the other hand, questioning Vi's love for her sister, whether we're talking about Powder or Jinx, is probably even more foolish. Vi loves her sister no matter what she might do, but she doesn't *enable* her and accept the fact that she is now a killer that laughs as she shoots her victims, which is completely understandable. Expecting Vi to accept her sister being completely different after being thrown in jail for more than half a decade is being very dismissive of Vi's own trauma and isn't giving Vi a fair chance. You can debate about pretty much everything, but there's no denying that Vi and Silco love Jinx.
@Mi_Z

Thing is, it's not a question of being fair. Is it fair to Vi? Nope. Is anything fair to any character in the show? Nope. Vi does love her sister, but she doesn't accept her... to Jinx, this will come across as conditional love. And it's not so much that Jinx is even a killer. I mean Vi is a flat out murderer herself. And up until a couple of days previously, she wouldn't have an inkling of moral quandary about killing enforcers ... in fact, she'd probably cheer it on. But Vi has an image of her sister still being Powder. She knows her sister has changed, but she still clings falsely to this idea. And she thinks Silco 'brainwashed' her sister into becoming who she is. Vi's decision-making also is rather... suspect (stating it kindly)... through out the entire show. She doesn't even get past the tea party scene, before misunderstanding the situation... she triggers Jinx, making things even worse. Her hatred of Silco pretty much blinds her, even to who her sister really is, and why she is. So if we want to say it's not entirely fair to Vi, okay. But she is the one who made Jinx... her actions led to a ton of pretty bad consequences... and in the end, she didn't accept her sister as she is, but wanted to change her back to that 10 year old girl, which obviously is impossible. She failed the tea party test.

First of all, you can not question someone's feeling of “love” as NOT love just because it is not your ideation of love is. Love is irrational and abstract, some “love” is twisted.. love cannot be defined. It is not debatable because the Voice Actor for Silco actually made conversations with the writers and directors of the show asking his characters' motivations and reasons for the scenes. He was told (and he also believes) that Silco loves Jinx and everything he said in the last episode were genuine. But viewers still believes they know better than the people who actually created the show.

@@Mi_Z And to follow it up, it's also okay for Jinx to not like who Vi became, either. The sister who would have done literally anything for her is now being friendly (REALLY friendly) with someone who is supposed to be their enemy, and even 'choosing' her over Jinx (Jinx literally offered to return 'Powder' if Vi killed an enforcer, a person that Vi wouldn't have shed a single tear over in the old days). Vi already blew it (as far as Jinx is concerned) when she 'abandoned' her, so the tea party was a second chance in a lot of ways. A second chance to see if the Vi she knew and loved was still there. Thus the line "but you changed too". Ironically, Jinx came to the realization that they were both no longer the person they used to be while Vi still hasn't fully come to grips with it. I think Vi is a great character, but it is exhausting that so many people can't fathom the idea that she also is in the wrong (due to her being 'hero-coded', I reckon). Something I rarely see mentioned is how shaken up Jinx was by the fact that Sevika was telling the 'truth'. Sevika told her that her sister was hanging out with an enforcer, an idea that Jinx dismissed out of hand because in her mind there was no way that could be true. It was an absolutely absurd idea, the sister she knew hated enforcers. So when she saw that Vi really was with an enforcer, it completely rattled her. If Sevika wasn't lying about that, maybe she wasn't lying about Vi just being there for the stone either. All bets were off, because her sister was doing the one thing she was convinced she'd never, ever do. *conjecture-based potential spoilers below* And if League's lore is any indication, Vi is going to join the enforcers, which will only cement her change to Jinx. And Jinx isn't wrong, either.

@@kenjutsukata1o1 Some nice points. I'd like to point out the 'old days' was only like 2-3 days ago, which seems weird when you think about it. I realize the show had to do things the way they did, but it still comes across as kind of tv-showish (one of the few times)... not a whole lot of time has passed between Vi thinking of enforcers as criminals in uniforms and despising them, to working with them and having a cupcake relationship. And I realize it's not super relevant to this conversation, but the timeframe kind of bugs me. And I don't think Jinx ever believed she could summon 'Powder' back during that scene, but the offer is what mattered... and it was a callback to the earlier episode of 'chasing away the monsters'. Unlike the past, Vi didn't chase them away this time, didn't take Jinx's side. Good catch in regard to the earlier scene w/ Sevika. And I wouldn't necessarily say Vi was wrong in the sense of it making her a bad person, during that final scene. She's simply a flawed character, with questionable decision-making abilities -- making incorrect choices quite often. But what does bug me sometimes is how her hero-coding occasionally blinds people into thinking she ALWAYS makes the right or good choices. The council scene where she gave up her sister's name is an example of this -- I don't think I have seen a single reactor comment on that scene or mention how perhaps that wasn't the smartest move by Vi there. I mean it's just another betrayal, but everyone sort of lets it slide. Or Vi's planning... which equates to "Punch, punch and punch some more... and worry about the consequences later." She's an example of a hero-coded character whose actions quite often aren't so heroic.

All good points. I recall during episode 1 thinking I had this show figured out, so many archetypes that typically would move the story ahead in a rather predictable fashion. And by episode 3 I realized... nope, it's not that type of show at all. Only odd thing is how the reactors sort of clung to the good/bad guy tropes past that episode. Then again, they probably were influenced by all the other shows they have watched, and figured things would sort of settle back down and the show would follow a more traditional pattern. Vi is a 'hero' ... who makes an awful lot of mistakes, and behaves non-heroically quite often. Silco is the 'villain'... he's evil... well, he has to be, since he's the villain, and will always do bad things, right? Well, hmm... he does seem to be awful loyal to be so evil. And, well now that I think on it, his goal actually seems to be noble... and... wait, he truly loves Jinx? And for those locked into the good/bad guy mindset, it sort of confuses them. Some even kind of bend what is being shown into what they think should instead happen. Vi has excuses... she didn't just rat out her sister to the council... she didn't abandon her sister again... her plans make sense, even though her plans typically involve just punching something repeatedly... And even in this reaction video, Montana didn't buy that Silco truly loved Jinx... even after Silco was willing to sacrifice himself in lieu of Jinx during the peace treaty scene, and after the entire fountain scene. It's because it didn't fit the preconceived notion of Silco = always bad.

There's a really great callback. In episode 8, when Vi describes the game she played with her sister when they were super young, making bigger and scarier monsters until Powder would get scared and Vi had to chase the monster away... Jinx remembers the game too: "Makee her go away. Please?" She's begging her big sister to make Caitlyn, the scariest monster, go away. Jinx doesn't "choose" to be Jinx or "kill Powder" when she sits in her chair. She just finally comes to terms with reality. Powder is seven(?) years in the past, buried under everything that happened on that fateful night in episode 3, and in the intervening time. She is that girl, but she is not and can't ever be ONLY that girl. The intervening time and experiences won't go away. Jinx is, thus, the second character in the show to step truly into the present, neither living for the distant past or the distant future. Vi is pretty much exclusively living in the past. Jayce, Viktor and Singed are staring so far ahead that they can't see the present except as a nuisance tugging at their ankles, though Viktor and Jayce are SAD that the current day isn't more on their agenda. Heimerdinger lives every day a century or more in the past. Sevika and Silco have a slight gaze to the present, but only insofar as it informs the future, the struggle and the freedom that must result. Only Ekko is all about today being a day more important than yesterday or tomorrow can really ever be... and now Jinx has gotten there, as well. I'm pleased to see you caught the parallel between Vander giving up the fight to protect his adopted daughter (which Silco resented him for), and Silco giving up his chance to get what he had worked for to protect his adopted daughter... though it has to be said, Silco gave up ONE CHANCE. There's little indication that he was about to give up the struggle. He was, though, going to choose war over giving her up. Not liking Ambessa (Mel's mom) is fair, and all, but she is also the only person mostly associated with Piltover who is wise, insightful and correct in her assertions. You just don't notice it much, because she is confident to the point of arrogance, brutal, self-serving, indulgent and kind of shallow. Given the council are at best venal, corrupt, cowardly and self-serving, and Heimerdinger is by and large the worst of them, Ambessa is the only one who speaks for taking the threat seriously before the option to do so is taken away... nevermind that her proposed SOLUTIONS start and end with going to war over the differences. And at least, when Ambessa says she would prefer the war to go ahead, she doesn't make a secret of WHY. A thought on love. This show has shown us a lot of love and a lot of good intentions, and while people argue over who loved whom - my thought on that is, Vi loves the sister she remembers, Silco loves the daughter he has, neither of them are entirely good or entirely bad for Jinx, and they're all very fallible and human about it all - the show isn't about who loves whom or why or how. The central theme, every episode, is how love and good intentions ARE NOT ENOUGH. I don't think it's very controversial to say that Jinx would have been far worse off had she NOT been taken in by Silco at the end of episode 3; she's deeply traumatised, alone, with no home, no resources, and no people to take care of her. She comes out the other side of the seven(?) year skip relatively healthy, and I'd say probably saner than she is if she had been alone and homeless through that time - if she had survived it. When Vi comes in and barely has a chance to MEET with her sister before they BOTH try to revive what they were to each other seven(?) years ago, they're both doomed to failure, because neither realises who or what they were to the other. Vi thinks she was the cool big sister, loving and taking care of her goofy little sister, teaching her to be strong and never give up and be proud of what makes her different, in a tough, but wondrous childhood paradise. Powder, meanwhile, saw herself as a soldier, a follower, but ultimately a failure, and she was terrified of that every moment. She was trying to support the team by using her bombs to kill everyone who got in their way, and when Vi thought she was encouraging her sister to believe in herself, Powder thought she was encouraging her to keep trying to solve her problems with violence on a grand scale. After all, did her big sister, who is also essentially her parent, not say, when she was sad that she failed to make mincemeat out of a goon with her nail bomb, that she'd get it to work eventually? The love was always there, and as of this moment, nothing good came of it. Interestingly, also it seems pretty clear to me that Vi still hasn't realised what Jinx fully appreciates - that their childhood selves are now in the past, and that any relationship they will have now will have to be built now, and that neither can be something they're not just to please the other. I happen to think that Jinx firing upon the council is the most reasonable response to their governance the council has ever received, and that it is richly deserved, though it remains tragic. And that's the big theme of Arcane, really, I think: inevitability. Everyone is who they are, and they pretty much all stay true to their natures - even Jayce, whose nature may SLIGHTLY have graduated from "paper kite" at the very end - and because they follow their consciences and convictions, they come into conflict with one another, and much sadness, loss and pain results. It's the best tragedy I've ever experienced.

People are what they are because everyone makes their choices, according to their values, their environment, their education, past and their emotions at the time (The analysis of everyone's perception of time is really very interesting.) I love Arcane because of that. The right to have given access to the choice for the characters. To have offered them a humanity in all that they are or do. TBH, I think the "cliffhanger" is the best way to end this part of the story. This story has been, ultimately, about Jinx and how she's going to affect her world going forward. She's decided what that will look like (hexplosive chaos for anyone she wants to inflict it on) and has effectively sent her message when she pulled the trigger of her hextech rocket launcher (named Fishbones in the game). She's the point where all the deep dualities of the show come together: chemtech and hextech, progress and oppression, father and daughter, shimmer and natural biology, nature and nurture represented as Powder and Jinx. And this is how she's settled the conflicts within her. Using hextech weaponry developed under the oppression of the "City of Progress" to carry out the wishes of her second adoptive father that she's killed trying to protect her biological sister while also reconciling her chaotic and aggressive nature with her calculatingly violent and power-driven upbringing under Silco. I don't think she cares about what the outcome is, the rocket is about deciding who she's going to be and making sure everyone feels just as scared and uncertain as she used to before this moment. The aftermath of the rocket will change a lot of other stories, and probably start a few, but it doesn't matter to the story of Jinx, which is the core of this first season. @@comdrive3865

I think the tipping point of this episode that I just love so much, and haven't unseen since I saw it is when Silco dies and Vi looks up, says "Powder, it's okay". It shows how the two of them are simply living life through two different lenses. Decent people, sure, but different people now. Jinx doesn't consider herself "Powder", and despite the rough edges, this guy was for all intents and purposes- her father, and she just killed him to save Vi. And Vi wanted Silco dead for a long while now, and especially this episode. It wasn't happenstance. The thing she (Vi) wants, breaks Jinx's heart. And when it happens Vi clearly doesn't understand what Jinx is going through in that moment. It feels very relatable to real life, over time, how people change. You can remain good, and decent, and still see life through different perspectives and grow and change and, frankly, grow apart from friends or family. This example was stretched over the span of 9 episodes with ups and downs and was done with subtlety and nuance and I loved it.

If it makes you feel any better, the peace never would have happened anyway. Jayce had them agree to his peace , which would have never actually gone through. The entire deal was dependent on Silco giving up Jinx, that was the only non-negotiable term for Jayce. So they're agreeing to peace based on a proposal that wouldn't actually go through.

Silco 100% loved Jinx for who she was and as a father. Think about everything she did to him. If it was any one else he would have killed them. He also shared so much with her, more than he shared with anyone else. He taught her lessons, morals, even if not always great ones, but some good ones too. But he's also a criminal overlord, and someone with deep psychological problems himself. But he does love her in his heart of hearts. And that's shown in his last moments. He gains nothing as he's dying from lying to her, but he says things that any good father would to their daughter who is in pain or struggling... So you know he's telling the truth. :(

Calling Silco a good father is the fattest lie I’ve ever heard. He loved Jinx and cared for her but the way he loves is so toxic. If he truly were a good father, he wouldn’t have said “ur perfect” when she just had a psychotic break 3 seconds ago and needs professional help. That just push Jinx further into refusing anything that could change the way she is. Which is not good when Jinx is mentally unstable, deeply traumatized, and unable to deal with her issues. He loved her only to the extend that his own mental issues and trauma allowed him to. He let his own issues affect Jinx’s wellbeing, encouraging her to “kill” Powder instead of healing from her trauma by acknowledging what it’s done. He loved powder, but he wasn’t a good dad. Just like existing in her life and loving her doesn’t make him a good dad. The bar for a good dad is literally in hell and he still doesn’t make it

Awesome reaction! I absolutely agree with Kenny that there are no villains in this show and that it's just everybody finding themselves at odds with one another. Or maybe more accurately, everybody is a villain to somebody else (except maybe Caitlyn who is just a pure, kind soul). Even comparing Silco and the Council - we get clear vibes about how warped Silco is, but the Council arguably is much much worse which we discover over the course of the show. In a way, Silco is the monster the Council created. At the same time like Kenny said, maybe Silco would become more and more like Vander if he lived on. Taking a super wide view of all the themes, the whole show is about the tension between difference and alignment. You never know if it's oil and water or blood and water. Honestly I could write several essays about this from the use of colour (blue and purple, hextech and shimmer) to the way Silco's and the Council's politics played out (Silco... kind of found an actual workable solution that will make Zaun better, even if it was kind of accidental and he most likely would have threw it away for Jinx). And of course, to how all these relationships come to mirror one another, where the most distant, antagonistic people come to find something in common, and those who share the deepest bonds are torn apart by themselves.

Just had a realization. When Jayce said "you won't make it on your own", he was right. Vi was already saved by Caitlyn twice at that point, and she would have lost to Sevika for sure without the gauntlets. In fact, it appears that the only reason she won was because of the magic shield built into the gauntlets that she didn't even know existed. Gauntlets made by Jayce. In fact, the only thing she did completely on her own was fail the tea party test. So... good job, Vi 😛

Yeah I have been saying that Vi is walking behind everyone else, Jinx has gained the understanding of making weapons and reversed engineered hex-tech, Caitlyn has shown her skills in chasing leads, Echo has build his own group and also has gained a lot of knowledge in engineering, Jayce has learned politics (though not much) and knows hex-tech, Mel has learned to stand-up for herself and make decisions which might not make others (her family/the council) happy and knows politics. Which is funny because the first 3 episodes she was the "leader" of the group. That said it does make sense, Vi was in prison for all those years and has probably not had a lot of opportunities to pick up new skills there. So I hope in season 2 she will somehow "catch up" with the rest. And yes, Vi is a good fighter, but they all are. I'm even pretty sure Mel is a good fighter, considering where she grew up. But I'll probably get a lot of hate for this comment from Vi lovers. Edit: What I'm trying to point out is that Vi does not have a lot of skills going for her outside of combat compared to the rest of the main characters. The only one might be her "knowing" the undercity, which I'm pretty sure Echo and Jinx also have. And Jayce, Mel and Caitlyn know the uppercity in return. Mel also knows Noxus.

@@ruud9761 Yup, seven or so years in prison definitely set her back quite a bit. The only things she developed in prison is her ability to brawl and her hatred of Silco. Poor girl has a lot of catch-up to do. Very curious to see what development she goes through in season 2.

Very apt that Jinx put Cait in her Enforcer’s uniform. A way of saying, “hey, remember, we hate these guys?” And that also contributed to her line of “you changed too.” Yikes. Alright so this is going to be a long one because I have so much to say about the family dinner scene so I apologize in advance. I'll try to keep it as brief as I can though. It’s such a master class of everything coming together. The story, the music, the tension, the animation. Everything about that scene just adds that extra layer and it’s astounding. Any scene that makes me think even for a split second, even with meta knowledge on my side, that Cait’s head was on the platter deserves an award in all honesty. There was a cupcake, however… that’s some dark humor there, Jinx. The way this show plays with Powder vs Jinx is so good (even if people take it far too literally sometimes). Jinx presents the option of Powder and Jinx to Vi. Says that she’ll be Powder again, if Vi can kill Cait. But it’s a false choice, and I think even Vi knows it. Powder’s chair is pushed into the table, surrounded by clutter. Jinx’s chair is pulled out and ready to be sat in at any time. It’s inevitable how it’s all going to end, that Jinx is going to sit in that chair no matter what at the end of all this. And it’s heartbreaking because we know Jinx is a victim. She’s been through so much, but she’s not the only victim in this scene. Vi loves her sister so much, still thinks there’s maybe some sort of hope. But no matter how much she loves her sister, she can’t enable her homicidal tendencies. She can’t defend her actions anymore. Silco has become Jinx’s enabler. When they were kids, Vi would’ve let Powder get away with murder (figuratively). But she can’t anymore. There’s also just the idea of how their past loved ones affect them in the present. For better or worse, Vi uses the people she loved as a means of pushing herself forward. It’s what kept her sane in Stillwater, it’s what pushed her beyond her limits in the fight between her and Sevika. It’s why she can’t see that it’s not the same for Jinx. Jinx sees them all as demons, monsters that torment her. And it’s this disconnect that is ultimately their undoing. And that’s a wrap for season 1. I estimate the earliest we’ll get season 2 is Fall of 2023. They were working on season 2 right after season 1 production wrapped, plus they have most of the assets now. Man I’m excited.

Best animated series ever made. The way they manage to portrait every single character is insane, there's no good guy, there's no bad guy, everyone is both good and bad depending on the perspective. And the depth of each character..... When you manage to make the public empathize with the one guy who's supposed to be the enemy.....you win. For the first time in my life I found myself sheding a tier for the death of a villain. The quality is ABSURD under every aspect: audio, video, design, colors, music, characters, dialogues, voice acting, action, fight scenes, timing, circularity of some events.... there's so many things that would deserve to be mentioned.... No wonder this show broke the internet, on Rotten Tomatoes it still has a 100%/96% rating, and I haven't heard of a single person saying 1 bad thing about it, which in the Social Media Era is unheard of. Easiest 10/10 of my life.

Agreed. Besides the 'villain' in Silco, we also have Jinx ... and I have never seen a character quite like her in any form of media. I'm not referring to her specific personality/characteristics or story-line, I mean simply looking at her character as a hero or villain. If you've seen Schnee's video on the subject, you'll realize it's extremely unique. She's a character who could be defined as both a hero or villain, with a fully formed arc for each ... and the events that define her as either can be both considered heroic or villainous, depending on one's perspective. And they are the same exact events. If someone told me beforehand such a character existed, I'd wonder how it'd even be possible. But they pulled it off.

Here is another example of circular storytelling and its beauty! At the start of a show Vendor abandons his dream (rebellion against piltover) to protect Vi and Powder, his daughters. Silco couldn't accept this as he didn't understand Vander and his love for family. He thought the cause was above that. He thought HE could achieve his dream no matter what. At the end of the show Silco abandons his dream to protect Jinx, his daughter. His dream was to make peace on the basis of fear for shimmer. It didn't work, but Jace gave him another chance to make peace on a condition of Silco giving away Jinx. But now he understands Vandor, now he feel the same father love for Jinx (Hence the scene near the statue). So he abandons his dream by telling Jinx that he would never give her away, which triggers her to start a war (which he didn't want to happend. He was working to protect his people, even if his means were quastionable)

I speak no hyperbole when I say that Arcane: League of Legends is the best western animated series I have seen since Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It really wasn't the story that captivated me as much as it was the characters. I was sucked in by all the separate stories this show told all at once and kept perfectly balanced. Standouts for me in particular were Powder, Silco, Ekko, Violet, Jayce, and my personal favourite character, Vander. And the animation is obviously the best I've ever seen in television, even WITHOUT the Dynasties and Dystopia sequence. I can't wait for Season Two. The fact that series take that to more real concept, I mean, gauntlets generate a shield, was beauty to see... how characters abilities are reflected in Arcane with their actions, movements, etc. EDIT: Also in game, Jinx's passive is gain important attack and movement speed some seconds every time kills an enemy, just like shimmer "activation". Additionaly, when she hits an enemy gains some attack speed, like her crazyness EDIT2: Beard on Singed's "office" was... Vander. Actually was second time he showed up, first time was when Viktor visit. We players think Vander will become Warwick (a fury quimical werewolf) based on so many phrases and references that he and two more champions have in game, especially interactions with Vi, Jinx and Ekko.

Things to consider looking toward season 2 from someone who love LoL lore: But first I'd highly recommend watching some of the cinematics like Warrior and Awaken in particular. As well as the video for Enemy, it is like Jinx/Vi/Ekko vignette and as you like the song anyway. You could easily do all three in a single watch episode. But back to the speculation: Finn: "There's bigger fish than Silco"; Personally I think that's Ambessa (Mel's mom). I think she's been messing with Piltover/Under City under the table. Ambessa wants Hextech weapons and Jinx has Hextech weapons and will need someplace to go in the story. There are a couple candidates for the man Mel's brother crossed that would be amazing pieces to bring into season 2. Both in terms of just awesome characters in their own right but in expanding the world beyond Piltover and Zaun. The most likely candidate is Swain, he is the most powerful man in Noxus in the lore, but it could also be one of his under lords like Draven. I personally hope it is because that would mean we might see Riven one of my favorite characters from the lore. However, the princes Ambessa killed in Mel's flashback looked Ionian and that would bring a whole different cast of potential 'powerful man' candidates. I think Mel's golden decoration she's never without as if its a part of her body is some sort of protection, shield/armor of some sort. It is also something her mother or family mages might give her for protection away from the family. When Jayce was first before the Council notice that the room closed off with heavy covers before the Council vote, could those play a role? There isn't a lot in Arcane that's shown for no reason, the series is filled with Chekhov's guns. For example, in Progress day we're shown mechanical butterflies and later shown Jinx working on them with them glowing like firelights - turns out she was making them into bombs. The ending scene with the Doctor (a.k.a. Singed) has two champions from the game that may become characters: the wolfman hanging from the hooks is Warwick and many people are speculating he's a transformed Vander. Warwick will for sure be in season 2 as in the teaser the howl at the end is Warwick's from the game. The second is the locket with the picture of his daughter, alluded to when he tells Silco 'I once had a daughter too', looks a lot like Orianna from the game. Plus, while not seemless both Champion's lore could pretty easily be slightly altered and work fine, like what they've done with other Champions. Spoilers below: Jayce and Viktor will live because they are Champions in the game. Viktor's story line will involve what in the lore is 'The Great Evolution'. It is a story of good intentions becoming evil means in the lore and a solid basis for a season 2 story line that is foreshadowed.

I'm so tired of these "Silco was a good dad" posts. Silco was an abusive piece of sh*t who murdered Vi and Powder's REAL father figure, Vander, and caused the events which lead to the deaths of Mylo and Claggor, not to mention the separation of Vi and Jinx. He's a ruthless drug lord who spent years poisoning the undercity and hunting down Ekko and his friends. He gaslit Powder and enabled her self-destructive tendencies and PTSD to keep her with him. The paternal love he felt for her may have stemmed from a genuine source, but he also projected all his issues with Vander onto her and tried to shape her to be like him. He tried to kill Vi to keep her as his possession. There's a line between parental love and manipulative possessiveness and Silco crossed it a long time ago. None of that take away how good (in the sense of complex and well-built) his character is. He does have some sympathetic traits, like his dream of an independent Zaun, and his attachment to Powder, twisted as it is, can be seen as authentic. But let's not romanticize his influence on her.

I think before the bridge, Jinx was still hopeful that she could get something she'd enjoy out of life, even if it was just Silco's approval. But she very clearly gave up on the bridge, probably expecting to die, and then to be revived with Shimmer tearing at her traumatized brain and worsening her psychological issues made her see life as much more torturous. I don't believe she cares about her life, not that she did before, but she does blame Vi for her still being here.

Implying that she is Powder, but it's good for her to embrace Jinx. Silcos last words are, "You're perfect". Because he knows that she is now entirely Jinx.
@DarthRayj
@DarthRayj 5 ай бұрын
I can see this perspective, but I took the final line to mean that he no longer cared if she was Jinx or Powder, she was perfect regardless. Accepting her with all her issues, which is exactly what Vi couldn't do (notably, this is for very good reasons like "she has no regard for life" but Jinx doesn't see this as an issue because she has no regard for life). Vi wanted her to be Powder, and Silco wanted her to be Jinx; but when things came to a head and Powder shot Silco to save her sister, he only cared about whether his daughter would blame herself for it, and making sure she knew he would never have betrayed her, without trying to make her be what he wanted. Vi celebrated her killing the person who is, to Jinx, the *second* adoptive father she's now killed. Silco forgave her to protect her self-worth, calling her perfect when her whole life she would have been called a jinx for messing up this badly, and in return, she finally does become the perfect Jinx. Not because he told her to, but because he didn't, even in his last moments.

A few things about this which I love! "The boy didn't even haggle" Jayce showing his self even with all the stress and corruption he's experienced. Everytime Vi fights and someone sees it, they always say, "She blocks with her face" the one time she actually blocks with her face, it helps her clutch out a win which is beautiful! Also, Jinx's rocket launcher is a dangerous mix of chemtech and hex tech so that rocket could keep going for a long while...

Regardless wither you decide to post your reaction to bridging the rift (Arcane making...) or not, it is a really good watch. I would highly recommend that you watch it. I would definitely watch the reaction if it drops here. I'll be around for Death Note too if you guys end up watching it, I saw it was doing well on the pole.

One of my favorite bits about the finale is when Vi is listing off all the people to Jinx. Because it's the biggest piece of evidence that, despite loving her, Vi has **no idea** what Jinx needs. Every name she says appears as a nightmare to her with Jinx begging her to stop. It's so tragic
@Mi_Z
@Mi_Z Жыл бұрын
Vi is completely clueless as to who her sister currently is. She still views her as that little girl she left 7 years ago. And she thinks Jinx's 'problems' are all due to Silco's influence, like she's brainwashed. But it's great evidence, as you say, that Vi wouldn't know how to deal with her sister if they went away together. I consider Silco correct in that scene. I wouldn't give them very long before Jinx perceived Vi as betraying her, or some other problem would ensue. Heck, they can't even get up from the dinner table before Vi made things worse.

@@Mi_Z Mmhm 100% It's so sad watching the scene. Both Silco and Vi clearly care about her but unfortunately the single person who'd likely be able to pull her from the darkness is, well unavailable. (And I'm reeeeeeallly curious to see if the theories are right in Season 2 because whooo boy is that gonna be a trip)

Fun fact..vi telling jinx to remember her friends..wasn't a bright idea that shi only works in movies ..you're asking her to forcefully dig up trauma ..slico knew this thats why he went for the guy.. Jinx would've totally lost it in that scene

I understand not believe Silco truly loved Jinx because of how much of a terrible and manipulative father he was, but in his mind he was trying to do the best for her. Yeah he’s terrible, but he believes he was helping her and truly loved her.

@@deranged_dragon9471 Also nobody in the rest of the Council would have even had the idea of giving independence cross their mind, let alone have considered it. Jayce was the catalyst. Without him, things would have festered and boiled over. Silco's goal was always a peaceful finale. He said to Vander that he knew he couldn't win a war with Piltover, that he just had to scare them. If he had them scared enough, he could use it to leverage independence. You even saw it when he went to negotiations with Jayce. He was smug and triumphant, thinking he'd finally scared topside sufficiently to come out on top. Then he got thrown off when Jayce revealed that he was doing it out of fear *for* Zaun and not fear *of* Zaun.

As much as i want to know what happens next and really looking forward to the next season and seasons after that, i absolutely love that ending. I heard the reasoning as to why this is such an incredible ending is that ending the show before showing the aftermath of the rocket that got shot it puts the endings emphasis on the action of jinx launching it and not putting the emphasis on the outcome of it which i love so much!

In the end you could see Mel´s Amor glow. That could be the Locket of the Iron Solari (League of Legends Item that shields allies when activaded) and that means that Mel could be an Solari what makes sence because the Girl that was killed by Mel´s Mom had Lunari Symbols. And Solari and Lunari are in War. Hope we see more in the next Season.

Just to point out, Jinx only wanted Vi to love Jinx, not Powder. As she kept calling her Powder, Jinx decided to have her life as a criminal so she says to Vi “I thought you could love me like you used to, even tho I am different” and shoots the rocket towards the Council. Maybe if Vi called her Jinx, none of that would have happened.

Thanks for your reaction! Also, wanted to add one interaction that I didn’t see on the first watch: I don’t believe Jinx have no respect to every human life. I believe that she doesn’t have regards to Enforcers because since ep.1 opening she only sees them as monsters/de-humanized. That’s why she loves killing them (cause Vi was nowhere around anymore to chase them away). And (as in ep. 7 that triggered shooting) she sees Caytlin as a monster=enforcer. So, she asked VI (like in the old days) to “make her go away” as Vi did with other monsters
