I have a civil war regimental rule set called Across a Deadly Field where when you lose a figure or an artillery section, you place a piece of pipe cleaner on the base. There has also been situations where an enemy regiment rolled high enough and an entire stand is removed.

I just have to love the Royal Factory Aircraft S.E.5. Something about all the effort that went into the sliding reloading mechanism so they could keep the MG mounted on the top of the plane just gets me.

One thing to add- all pilots were cold-blooded when it came to shooting. Rickenbacker, Bell, etc., all aimed for the pilot when possible.

Thanks for an awesome finale and providing a generally all-round enjoyable series. I have only started my adventure into historical wargaming over the last 12 or so months, and this has been a series that has regularly inspired me in my push, both in considering rulesets and eras to explore further. Hope to continue seeing them for a while to come and that you will be able to emerge the other side of Covid-19 producing more great content. As for my favourite WW1 aircraft, I find it hard to go past the Sopwith Camels. One of my first forays into learning about WW1 was some books by Peter Fitzsimons centered around the Australian Involvement in WW1, and in particular, during the book 'Victory at Villers-Brettonoux' the Camels feature heavily, so they are a big part of my early discovery of the war. The Focker Dr.1 would be a close second.

My favorite plane is the Bristol Type 22. I love the look and the extra seat that allows for a tail gunner. The Bristol was also a good staple plane for the time peroid.

The Goth G.V is definitely my favorite plane of World War 1. When it was used to raid Britain, it gave the British a reason to create an Air Force for home defense and may have been one of the reasons why the British were so successful during the Battle of Britain during World War II

The earlier Zeppelin scourge from 1915 onwards also played a part in the formation of the home defence squadrons. It had some notable successes. in particular the shooting down of SL 11 by William Leefe Robinson V.C on the 2/3 September 1916.

I have to go with the "Zeppelin-Staaken R-Serie" the biggest plane of ww1. It had a range of 800 km, a speed of max 130 km/h and a maximum of 2000kg of bombs. And the looks of it is also really cool. By the way, really good video 👍

What a fun video. I remember a year, where most of my high school friends and I played an extended campaign using TSRs Dawn Patrol. It became a weekend event of counter pushing and drinking copious amounts of moosehead beer (that was exotic in the day). I have to say, I fell in love with the Albatros D.III. playing that game, and reluctantly took the Camel, if forced playing the other side.

Albatross DIII was my favorite WWI Aircraft. The Spadau syncronized machineguns mounted over the fuselage design with the propeller spinner air cap appeared to permit the aircraft to slice through the air rather than the box front of the early Allied aircraft. All in all a well designed fighter aitcraft. Just a beautiful aircraft.

Great video. My favorite WW I airplane is the Fokker D VII. I got a plastic toy set of planes when I was very young. I “flew” the Fokker D VII all the time. My grandpa told me everything he could about that plane. It holds a special place for me.

My favorite aircraft of WWI was the SPAD S.VII. Growing up there was a restaurant next to the then Stapleton Intl Airport in Denver. The decorations inside were WWI with a focus on the 93rd Aero Squadron, which flew the SPAD. While eating you could see the planes land at the airport and listen to them talk to the air traffic controllers. As a kid that place was magical. Tragically the restaurant burned down with all the WWI artifacts inside.

Another great aircraft museum is the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA. They have hangars filled with both WW2 and WW1 aircraft. Granted, most of the WW1 planes are accurate replicas but very well done and almost all are flight worthy craft. I truly enjoyed my visit there.

Favourite aircraft was the SE5a aircraft of Albert Ball and Irish ace Mick Mannock. The SE5 with its Lewis gun mounted on the top wing was utilised by Albert Ball to fly under German aircraft and fire vertically up into the belly of the enemy airplane. It was also fast, manoeuvrable, a stable gun platform and take a lot of punishment and still make it home.

This was pretty exciting game play folks! Its always nice to get a lot of people...even family involved with your hobby. I've never played "Wings of Glory". I've grown up playing the old school "Blue Max" using 1:72 scale models and a ol' Battle Masters game mat. By the appearance it would seem both systems have similar concepts; like maneuver selection, combat chits/cards, and tracking damage..I'm sure there are other differences. I would be intersted in taking the jump into a new system. The big different is you're not confined to a hexagon like BM. Multi-player gaming seems to work well...not sure how long in real time it would take to activate multiple aircraft for one player. So you guys also shown your hand for the flight stands...that has to be a "How-to" video. Favorite aircraft of WWI, well there are a lot to choose from like the Albatros D,Va, the S.E.5A, Fokker DVIIf or even the Bristol F.2B; but my favorite due its performance and sleek look has to be the Hannover CL.II. Richtofen has often been a very curious character, especially HIS death and other ACES at the same time. It's really sad that at the last 6 months SOOOO many aces were shot down and killed. Favorite WWI aircraft would have to be L 59 (also known as LZ 104). It was a naval Zeppelin that was supposed to resupply Gen. Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck's army in East Africa, since the British controlled the seas. It was to carry 15 tons of ammo, food, medicine, and medals and would have been disassembled when it arrived to turn it into tents and radio towers. It turned back when the Shutztruppe couldn't hold the landing ground anymore and later exploded in an accident on it's way to attack Malta. It's still the record for the longest non-stop military flight at 95 hours.

Loved the video. The game looks very easy to get into. My personal favorite WWI Fighter was the Curtiss JN-4 Jenny. Not the deadliest and not even originally designed as a fighter it was built in large numbers and became the mainstay of civilian aviation in the post war US. Many young people got their first taste of flying with them.

I love the Hanriot HD.1 Being from belgium, it's the airplane Willy "Blue Devil" Coppens (the best belgian ace in ww1) used and funny enough he is the best balloon hunter of WW1 to my knowledge ;) I painted his plane as one of my first model kits almost 25 years ago. My favorite plane is a specific one: Werner Voss’ Fokker Triplane Fok Fl 103/17. The last tripe from Fokker with the curved leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer and equipped with a captured French Le Rhone engine.

Great video and thank you for breaking the monotony while we are confined. My favorite WWI Aircraft is the F.E.2b (F.E. Stands for Farman Experimental ). My hero is Captain Frederick Libby, America’s first Ace in WWI. The Capt. flew with the Royal Flying Corps and got his first kill over Vimy Ridge. Frederick grew up in Sterling Colorado, was a cowboy and during a blizzard he held up in a small dugout with his horse for a few days. He wound up in Canada and joined the Canadian Army for some adventures. He wrote a book called Horses Don’t Fly which I Encourage you guys to read fantastic story. The captain died in Los Angeles in 1970.

Our Wetpowder Group in KC played WW1 airplanes a while back using plastic models mounted on clips that were moved up/down on a 5-level stick for height - the ping-pong sized table used the plastic hex-maps from the "Battle-Masters" game and rules from the GDW "Blue Max" game ! Each plane-type could take "so many hits" (wings, engine, fuseloge, etc. and could also catch on fire) ! Depending on "HITS die-roll " you'd draw damage-chits (red/blue) out of a baggie although there was about a 1-in-20 chance of "pilot killed" or "gas tank explodes" with NO saving !! We kept track of how many enemy planes shot down between battles as Aces got better planes etc. ! :-)

Island hopping in pacific. Really good solo potential and ramping up difficulty with trenches, caves and bunkers for defenders. Small amounts of armor and off shore arty support.

Favorite plane: Curtiss H-16 Seaplane/Flying Boat Aircraft. Their seaplane nature allowed them free use of water landings as needed while their inherent designs allowed for long "over-water" endurance. These qualities served well when hunting down enemy surface ships or submarines or in the locating of downed airmen or seamen. Patrols of such types were extremely common and seaplanes were also charged with hunting the slow and plodding Zeppelin airships. As control of waters between England and Europe was critical to Allied success in the war, seaplanes certainly played an important part in the ongoing struggle.
