A bit overhyped, but still a bit fun, honestly, its most limiting factor its is short budget, despite its premise, sometimes its feels a bit too tame, I was expecting for machine gun joe car to actually be able to shoot, but not even that happened.

This movie was unknown to me before I found it on tubi, but after I watched it, I clearly saw the influence of it on movies and video games, namely "carmageddon". If you play that game, you will QUICKLY find references to this great movie that really doesn't take itself too seriously. We need more movies that don't take themselves so seriously nowadays. Let's just have fun and score some points, shall we?

There was also the "Death Race 2000" arcade video game! 2 drivers compete to run over pedestrians, which turn into gravestones when you hit them. I only ever saw ONE of these machines ever, in the arcade across the street from the short-lived BRIGANTINE PIER in Brigantine, NJ (not far from Atlantic City), where the "Brigantine Castle" haunted house attraction was for several years. I read the place burned to the ground... almost certainly a fire insurance scam. Why do so many "haunted house" attractions burn to the ground? I always felt the castle was great-- but was NOT ENOUGH on its own to sustain long-term or repeat tourism business. I knew that even the first time I went there. Had it been one attraction among a large number of amusement rides (on a pier in Atlantic City, for example) it might have survived longer.

Cult classic. No discussions, or ill send a note to the race organizers, that youre worth 10k points. EDIT: also - without this movie, the carmageddon series wouldnt exist, which worked hard towards forming my vulnerable psyche into something useful, when i was around 10 years old...

I always thought this movue was the beta(or even alpha) version of Mad Max. With the exception of the satire, Mad Max was trynig to do all of the stuff Death Race 2000 was doing, but it did it better.
@ryantsyАй бұрын
I like that take. Mad Max is fantastic, and you can definitely see where it draws some of its inspiration from

I love this movie, and I love campy Carradine movies. The moment he punches out Sly, and you're thinking 'I dunno...' but then the movie explains why as if it was wondering as well is one of my all time favorite jokes. Dave's outfit in this one always seemed a bit s&m themed for no reason but in retrospect I think I see why now :D

To me this movie is scrap, but delightful scrap! I like that sort of s**t! Also the story (or at least wide pieces thereof) repeats in many other movies, i.e. the hunger games.

I come off somewhat harsh but I would watch it again. It’s the type of movie that has its place in history. These types of b-movies are some of my favourites ro watch as well :) I was consistently thinking about the hunger games while watching it as well. The weird dystopian casualness about murder was very much the same

Really dude? We're ripping on Roger Corman AIP flicks for being cheap B movies? Im shocked. SHOCKED. 🙄 Perhaps you could move up to bagging on 1930s movies for being in black and white. Or, ya know... water for being wet.

They were a bit quick on the "neo nazis are just a normal part of society now"-idea, but they were unfortunately right in the end. Anyway, great video mate. I appreciate your use of background music as well.

Psy. Another millennial does not get it critiquing movies that he does not understand. No offense but it's just tiresome too much of this on youtube.

hey man, I said I’ll still watch it again. It’s goofy af and I’m down with that but some of the discourse you see online would make it out to be something I don’t think it is, that’s all Also I’m gen z whoops

@donnerblitzen13882 ай бұрын
@DROK278 it doesn't take itself seriously and that's what makes it fun. Crappy movies can be fun, we don't always need Oscar material for every movie release.

As if the critic of the 70's didn't also slammed the movie, there was one guy who gave it 0 starts, literally nothing, it's funny because the movie started to get critical claim over time, so saying newer generations doesnt get it, does not make sense.
