The odd-looking airplane is a Variviggen, designed by a designer of many odd-looking airplanes, Burt Rutan who many years later, designed Virgin Galactic's "Spaceship" and its carrier plane and launch platform, "White Knight." The name "Variviggen" comes from the fact that Rutan was inspired by the Swedish fighter plane "Viggen" when he designed it. The plane in the movie was the prototype model N27VV and can now be seen at the EAA AirVenture Museum.

Frankenstein's car was the "Monster", not the "Dragon". I was fortunate enough to meet Carradine at the San Diego Comic-con in... I think 2003. He and Michael Madsen were at adjoining tables promoting "Kill Bill, Vol I". I got his autograph for a friend and I THINK I got his autograph for myself as well. I can't remember. I saw the original at the drive-in when I was 8. It was my first R rated movie. My mom asked my sister about the new David Carradine movie while my sister was looking in the paper at the movie listings. My sister told her it was showing at the South Twin and what it was showing with and what the start time was for the first movie. Then my mom asked her what it was rated. My sister was 17 at the time and lied through her teeth (THANK YOU FAYE!!!!) telling her it was PG. My mother asked if she was sure. She replied she was (LIAR!!! LIAR!!! PANTS ON FIRE!!!). My mother was very uncomfortable at the first score, "A CLEAN HIT!!! A NEAT HIT!!! AND NO PAIN FOR THE TARGET!!!!". Then the first tits showed up and she tried to cover my eyes. I grinned real big and puller her hands off so I could see. Simone Griffeth... THANK YOU FOR DOING NUDE WORK!!!! I wouldn't see her tits again for over 8 years when my mother actually bought not only a VCR but also got me a used copy of "DEATH RACE 2000" for my 17th birthday. And don't even talk to me about any "Death Race X" movies that come after. I saw the first one with JS in the theater and that was enough for me. I never saw the others in that series. Then one night I get home from work and there is a flick called "Death Race 2050" available for streaming. I watched it and went right on Facebook and told my friends to avoid it if at all possible because it was an amount of time they could spend better by eating excrement. AWFUL MOVIE!!!! Great look back at a classic, Minty. Keep up the good work.

Another tid-bit from this movie: The aircraft at the end of the movie was designed and built by none other than Burt Rutan in the late 60's and early 70's. One of his first aircraft desgins. Known as the VariViggen. The great grandfather of the Beechcraft Starship. Another of his designs was "Messerschmitt 263" in Aces: Iron Eagle 3. The plane was actually a Scale Composites ARES one of the first mostly composite material demonstrator/test aircraft to investigate the durability of composite materials in high performance military aircraft.

A former race car driver, Franklyn Hart, (Majors) decides to gas up a hot rod and head for "Free California" across the country where driving isn't restricted by tyrants. Of course he's got to outrun cops and futuristic detection equipment all the way so he joins up with young electronics genius, Ring McCarthy (Makepeace) and The Last Chase begins!
