In my personal opinion, a lifelong sentence in prison is more emotionally and painfully damaging than a death sentence. A lifelong journey inside a cell, locked behind bars, is more painful than a few seconds of physical torture. Unlike the death sentence, life in jail technically means that you can't see the light of freedom for the rest of your existence, whilst the death sentence is just physical torture until you are free of your pain. Therefore, a more damaging sentence, both mentally, emotionally and psychologically, would be life behind bars, not death.

There was a very strange feature in this case, strange because of its extremely rare occurrence. This man had once been brought to the scaffold in company with several others, and had had the sentence of death by shooting passed upon him for some political crime. Twenty minutes later he had been reprieved and some other punishment substituted; but the interval between the two sentences, twenty minutes, or at least a quarter of an hour, had been passed in the certainty that within a few minutes he must die. I was very anxious to hear him speak of his impressions during that dreadful time, and I several times inquired of him as to what he thought and felt. He remembered everything with the most accurate and extraordinary distinctness, and declared that he would never forget a single iota of the experience. ‘About twenty paces from the scaffold, where he had stood to hear the sentence, were three posts, fixed in the ground, to which to fasten the criminals (of whom there were several). The first three criminals were taken to the posts, dressed in long white tunics, with white caps drawn over their faces, so that they could not see the rifles pointed at them. Then a group of soldiers took their stand opposite to each post. My friend was the eighth on the list, and therefore he would have been among the third lot to go up. A priest went about among them with a cross: and there was about five minutes of time left for him to live. ‘He said that those five minutes seemed to him to be a most interminable period, an enormous wealth of time; he seemed to be living, in these minutes, so many lives that there was no need as yet to think of that last moment, so that he made several arrangements, dividing up the time into portions-one for saying farewell to his companions, two minutes for that; then a couple more for thinking over his own life and career and all about himself; and another minute for a last look around. He remembered having divided his time like this quite well. While saying good- bye to his friends he recollected asking one of them some very usual everyday question, and being much interested in the answer. Then having bade farewell, he embarked upon those two minutes which he had allotted to looking into himself; he knew beforehand what he was going to think about. He wished to put it to himself as quickly and clearly as possible, that here was he, a living, thinking man, and that in three minutes he would be nobody; or if somebody or something, then what and where? He thought he would decide this question once for all in these last three minutes. A little way off there stood a church, and its gilded spire glittered in the sun. He remembered staring stubbornly at this spire, and at the rays of light sparkling from it. He could not tear his eyes from these rays of light; he got the idea that these rays were his new nature, and that in three minutes he would become one of them, amalgamated somehow with them. ‘The repugnance to what must ensue almost immediately, and the uncertainty, were dreadful, he said; but worst of all was the idea, ‘What should I do if I were not to die now? What if I were to return to life again? What an eternity of days, and all mine! How I should grudge and count up every minute of it, so as to waste not a single instant!’ He said that this thought weighed so upon him and became such a terrible burden upon his brain that he could not bear it, and wished they would shoot him quickly and have done with it.’

The question of whether it's a good "general" deterrent -- deterring criminals in general from killing -- is still an open one and may vary from state to state. Death is a release, it gives a person the luxury of moving on to the next life. So I think death sentence is probably the best choice a criminal can get. Life in prison, is essentially a slow and painful demise without physically dying right away.

Dont take the Abominable Injectable read revelation one of the ingredients is luciferease yes satan name is attached listen nothing in life is free all of sudden there giving out free admission to Disneyland free donuts free uber free food come on people wake up The Mark Of The Beast = Sunday Law The Seal Of God = The Sabbath The forehead = Mind Right hand = Works / obedience Whom does your loyalty and worship go to ? if your answer is God, then you will be worshiping on the Sabbath day ! the 7th day of the week (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown). No one have the Mark of the Beast NOW ! ONLY when a Sunday Law is Enforced by the government could someone accept or rejected the Mark of the Beast. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Jesus kept the Sabbath holy... "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read." (Luke 4:16) The Apostles kept the Sabbath holy... "And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures," (Acts 17:2) As it is written... "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Exodus 20:8-11) Jesus kept the Sabbath day ! even in the tomb. Christ died on Friday, the preparation for the Sabbath - that was the first day. He rested in the tomb on the Sabbath according to the commandment - that was the second day. He arose on the first day of the week which was Sunday - that was the third day. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Mark of the Beast is NOT the RFID chip ! The RFID chip will be in all likelihood used in the enforcement of Sunday laws. Regardless, do NOT take the RFID chip. Currently, Sunday laws are being added to nations' constitutions for its future implementation worldwide. First they will take away all the cash (money) ! then the government will pass a Sunday law, forcing you to go to church on (SUN)day. And if you don't, then they will close your credit cards ! preventing you from buying or selling.

5:55 Although I oppose the capital punishment, I can come but with “a better idea” off the top of my head while barely even trying. For example, executing a heavily sedated person via nitrogen hypoxia would almost certainly be more humane than most other forms of execution. But as I noted, I oppose capital punishment of all types; I’m just trying to note other means of execution which are likely less cruel.
@nicholasselke52143 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t care about humanity in terms of executing a convicted murderer. If someone kills one of my family members, any method of state ordered execution would be far more humane than what would happen if I caught the killer first. I can assure you that this is easy to say from the safe side ... I've witnessed cold blooded killers in court who during the entire length of the investigation say that they would rather a death sentence .. and when the office offers them a plea deal that turns their sentencing from death to life in prison they immediately take it ... survival instinct is a real thing, when you're there you will see those cold blooded killers turn into crying babies when the judge rules them to die.

@vladimir-savage723 жыл бұрын
There are a number of factors that go into play when it's the firing squad. One is the weather conditions,surprisingly a bullet can go astray if there's too much wind and it could miss the target or hit them in a non-vital area,then you have an annoying person just screaming to end his pain. Another is if the marksman is any good. Imagine someone lying their way to join the firing squad and they can't hit a target to save their life. Another is if the gun were to jam which guns have a habit of doing from time-to-time

As to the method of execution; place the condemned in a pressure chamber, then over a period of time pump the oxygen out of the chamber. The condemned will eventually succumb to sleep from O2 deprivation at which point the chamber is emptied of oxygen completely and left that way until flatline. There you have it. More humane.
@randybrandstatt93103 жыл бұрын
@williampg gois I agree, however it raises the question of the executioners identity, the belief systems of said executioner and the fact that there are times where a bullet to the brain has been survived.

Life in prison seems alot worse than - especially these days were in rare cases the execution is carried out - they basically put you to sleep like putting a sick pet to sleep with lethal injection most of the time. Thinking about being trapped in a prison until either someone kills you or die of old age seems like torture. Not to mention abuse by other prisoners (dropping the SOAP in the shower).
@littlemichaeljr65183 жыл бұрын
oh for the love of God, you took SpongeBob too seriously and clearly have never been in prison or have never been informed. people will only abuse you if you look at them wrong, steal from them, or talk about them and if you DON'T take showers cause you'll stink. the dropping soap is a joke and rarely ever happens you'll be in danger if you don't take showers. also, lethal injections aren't perfect they botch executions and leave the person in more pain and usually don't actually fall asleep but rather as i just said are in pain. so no, neither is good at all.
