@KIIBO_ it looks like the guy has a narcissistic personality disorder, he simply plays that victim role in order to save himself, not because he had changed. it's really common that a person who has this disorder tries to put themselves into that "victim spot", in this case saying things like "poor me, I'm a rich kid who doesn't appreciate anything" or "I've changed", justifying themselves most of the time. obviously, this is just my opinion, based on my experience, I'm not saying other opinions aren't valid

I remember watching a documentary about this with the dad and this guy, I cannot fathom being as forgiving as his father. I don't care if you are my son, I'd never trust you or forgive you for killing the entire family when I worked so hard to provide you with a privileged lifestyle. I hope his dad is ok, I think he remarried but you can see the pain in his eyes during that docu.

You forget… forgiveness isn’t just about the person that hurt or wronged you. It’s also for yourself. If he didn’t figure out how to forgive his son it would eat away at his soul and likely destroy his own life. Forgiveness can be so so hard. But it’s always the right choice. And it’s always the most healing choice.

Probably depends on the person and their personality. The ones i am certain about are: Relief that it's finally over; the pain will finally be ending; If God is real after all, i hope he understands and forgives me; Doesn't matter that i did or didn't do XYZ - not anymore; anything that was real to me and truly matters has been shattered beyond repair; i would rather Live, but i was denied the choice of Life w/o Misery; just can't fight anymore, all out of anything to fight on with; Counseling is useless, even if it was available; God must Hate me, my Prayers never get answered and i just get hurt; and a few others similar. Now these Particulars are probably more accurate for people who choose death voluntarily, {Suicides, Doomed Missions, etc.}, but still apply - your own Mortality is irreversibly ending, and you have to face it head-on and deal with it.

I imagine nobody can really say for sure, but I did once hear that there is some science behind the saying that your life flashes before your eyes before you die. At least according to what I read somewhere, it's because as you're dying, the last or one of the last parts of your conscious mind to shut down is the region associated with memory. Which in a way might be consoling or peaceful, but at the same time I wonder if it would be terrifying. I mean, if the last functional part of your brain is focused on memories, then does that mean that from your perspective, you'll be dying at a much younger age than you actually did with no recollection of future events? Or is that shift to memories not that overwhelming of reality. Assuming, of course, I read and am remembering correctly, or not misinterpreting the information.

Life is precious. I know it's easy to say "I'd rather die than spend the rest of my life in prison." Truth is, until we know we're about to die we never really appreciate how valuable life is. Just ask those who are dying of terminal diseases. Just ask all those holocaust survivors. No matter how horrific their lives were, they all consider themselves lucky to have survived.

The story you played out in this sounded really really familiar (I’m a true crime nut lol🤷🏼‍♀️) Were you referring to the young man who was lying to his parents about attending college when he actually wasn’t. When his “graduation” was supposed to be coming up his family took him to dinner to celebrate not knowing he had planned for an assassin to enter the home while they ate to wait on them to come home and shoot them all as they entered the house? I don’t remember the name of the guy, but i remember it was such an incredibly tragic story. My heart just breaks for the father who survived it all, forgave his son and fought for the court to have mercy on his son throughout the trial. He is a much better person than I could ever hope to be with all that he’s endured.

This is the true story of Thomas Bartlett Whitaker. Another similar story that you'll find interesting is the Christopher Porco, who similarly murdered his parents while in college, in part, because he was failing, and despite his family being well off. Furthermore, his mother miraculously survivied (although severely disfigured) and proclaimed her son's innnocence, even at trial, and even though the evidence was overwhelming.
