As a Cardiac nurse, this is interesting because typically shocks are only given when you're in a shockable rhythm. So, the standard asystole (flat-line) that most people associate with being dead wouldn't be medically corrected with an AED like Heartman's is. It's probably just videogame magic, but if Heartman's heart doesn't flat-line and goes instead into these other rhythms, then what is the marker for death as far as going to your Beach is concerned? IRL you can have 2 patients with the exact same heart rhythm, can shock them both if the medication doesn't work, but one can be awake and talking to you while the other is completely unresponsive. Obviously, the awake person wouldn't go to their Beach while the unresponsive person would be considered dead. Give us the deets Kojima D:

Heart attacks hurt like hell. It's pretty much the second most painful thing a human can experiene, since it is the most important muscle in the entire body you have an absurd amount of nerves there to tell you if there's ever anything wrong. Cause yakno, if something is wrong with yer heart your body kind of wants you to stop doing whatever the hell you are doing and just stop. The most painful is, in theory, your back and lower back being tortured. This because, once again, your spine is important as hell. As such there are recorded cases of people dying from the pain/shock that to much trauma to the back area can cause say from whipping. It basically just overloads the nerve-endings etc. to the point that they burn out and the body gives up.

"Agog". Nuff said. From the beginning, I strongly believed Heartman would turn out to be a villain, or at least, an anti-hero. His interest in the Death Stranding seems unnatural and over-the-top considering all the deaths and pain it has caused. He was the only one who seemed OK with the situations. He cared too much about how the DS could help humanity evolve, adapt, etc. Classic well read, British, (how did he get there?!), tech-loving, pseudo-villain motives. Even his ringtone screams "BAD GUY". But after his backstory is revealed, he turned out to have one of the most tragic stories, in my opinion at least. His story is easy to relate to, compared to having two souls trapped in different bodies, or being made from dead parts (?!!) I kept waiting for the final betrayal but he is truly a good guy. Second most realistic character (ALL THINGS CONSIDERED) after C. H. "Most convincing", let's say.

I hope DS2 will shed more light on everything. I've been wondering how the "beach" works in itself. What happened to those you see walking into sea? When Sam enters the "sea" he floats underwater, lost and unresponsive until he repatriates. So its my belief (though of course I can't prove anything) that those who are trapped on the beach enter the sea, are the one's that get stuck and become BT's. They are stuck in the "underwater" part like Sam, but can't repatriate, nor can they swim up to reach the beach again. They are stuck there and their existence in this state is what we perceive as BT's in the living world. The real question remains, if the stranding was not happening, what would it take for a soul to move on to the higher plane? Would they instead have to walk away from the sea and move beyond the dunes of the beach? What even is beyond the Beach? (I doubt its heaven and hell) The weird part is Heartman in his flashback got dragged away from the beach and ended up in the land of the living again. So perhaps the only way towards the next world is instead crossing the sea without going under? What more I want to know about the beach experience from Heartman's perspective. Its been stated that every beach is unique, but to what extent? Are there beaches that don't even resemble a beach at all? How radically different can they get? We have already seen the war-zones, but what about other types? There is already contradicting information, saying that every beach is unique and only for one person. Yet Clifford Ungor's Beach has sucked in other souls as well. And Heartman has a cut-scene showing him and multiple people on a singular beach. So its possible that beaches get intermingled.

The thing about Heartman's Beach is it's connected to other Beaches. He also briefly explains that it's theorized that Beaches are a kind of multiverse. In other words, an infinite number of possible eventualities exist in an infinite number of possible Beaches. Since Heartman's Beach is connected to others, and there are theoretically an infinite number of Beaches with an infinite number of eventualities, then it is theoretically possible (although statistically infinitely impossible) that he might run into an instance where he can see his family again. It's an absolutely futile search and he probably knows that, but he doesn't want to spend his time doing anything else.

Amelie developed high level DOOMS specifically because she spent so long on the beach. If this was the case, how come Heartman had no dooms? Why does does heartman give up on his quest because "beaches are unique to each person", when the entire reason he started traveling to the beaches was he experienced the same beach as the void out victims? If Heartmans heart deforms specifically due to repeated cardiac arrest, how is repeated cardiac arrest not causing further ailments? This is why I hate Kojima's writing. It fundamentally contradicts itself and then uses BS throwaway lines in text exposition hidden in your emails to try and wave a wand at plot holes.
