I should check out the pool at stovepipe sometime for just five bucks! Thanks as always: :-)

it is smaller but also right next to the saloon, you can get lunch and have it pool side// decent views but not as nice as this one. glad you like it we had a great time/ finally made it back to JT on this trip as well

That lake looked amazing! I would have jumped in to cool off! Wow, no shade at all. I guess thats why they call it Death Valley. I bet that pool felt so good!

Must be so nice to be out there all by yourselves. Love those Bristlecone Pines - didn't realize they were so close to DV. 127 degrees... wow! Recall good times with friends that pool!
@potatothorn3 жыл бұрын
If you take the back road it is about 50 miles from Bristlecones to that northern Park border shown in the video... hope you get to try it some time... Awesome you have been in the same pool, glad we could take you back this way thanks for checking it out. and yeah it was HOT all week long, we were immersed in heat hahah

Enjoyed this format of short clips and images with your voice over. Love weather events in the park!

thanks/ we didn't do much but i wanted to at least document the Heat - and the best way to survive it hahaha those pools are a lifesaver. We usually swim at stovepipe but their restaurant was closed due to AC trouble so we went here. Expensive pool pass but it is very nice. Saloon as you probably know is also pretty good. Limited menu for summer but good enough and reasonable prices, about the same for a meal at Stovepipe or FC.

Wow, that is some serious heat!! But cool to see the rain at the same time. What a great place... that hot and that far below sea level. The pool looked very refreshing, glad you guys could cool off. Too bad about the truck exhaust, but sounds like you fixed it up good. Great trip guys, thanks for the tour.

glad you like it! the exhaust worked well enough but i need to cut it cut off and replaced at some point, the kink is causing some back pressure when the engine is cold... overall a great trip, we spent a whole week driving around the desert / most of it was just sitting in the hot not making videos but ill have some more short videos coming soon finally went back to joshua tree

Another great video. Thanks for pointing out to people that off-highway vehicles aren't allowed in DVNP. I'm always impressed with the places you go in your 2wd truck. Sucks about the tire but you go prepared. Safe travels.

glad you enjoy it/ i dont want anyone to think i was breaking the rules or encourage the wrong thing- but it is kinda neat that some of these desert parks have "open routes" where you can ride legally very close to the Park. The roads we take the truck on here are really bumpy but otherwise any car can make it, slowly/ we also now have a compressor so we can air down, that plus heavy duty tires helps immensely. Plus i bought a battery powered impact wrench which i highly recommend if you might need to change tires when it is 110F outside!! tire changed in about 5 minutes!

Great adventures! I've been to Eureka Dunes with rain. So awesome.

glad you enjoy it!! we have seen Eureka shortly after a rain but i think this is the most we ever saw/ literally one little slap of tiny drops it was very odd! wind was crazy for a couple hours, was nice to have the dunes to ourselves

Great trip report! Yes that lake does look awesome, I will watch the separate video on that. The storms you caught gave you some interesting footage. Wow it was hot out there. Its been a very hot summer everywhere. We spent a few hours in 108 degree heat in the Bighorn Basin back in July. I don’t think I’ve ever been that hot. Wish we had that awesome pool to swim in back then lol. Man that tire really blew up. Nice roadside mod on your tail pipe. I probably would have just taken a hack saw to it if it happened to me lol. I’m actually considering an exhaust system delete but haven’t decided yet. I should think about carrying two spares too. I don’t normally have to worry about extreme temps like you often deal with but some of my trips are very long and in remote places with no cell phone service. I can buy a wheel and tire for less than what an off-road wrecker would charge so definitely something to consider.
@potatothorn3 жыл бұрын
junkyards often have spare tires, i got mine off another truck like mine... the yard takes off the wheels but spare was still under the bed ! nice to have if you are on a long trip and especially nice on rocky dirt roads, you never know when you might get another flat... if i cut off the tailpipe under the truck, the hot exhaust all would hit the bed...as you saw it did melt some stuff from the heat... you at least need pipes to get the exhaust away from the truck... maybe you can "delete" and add stacks behind the cab i dont know but i wouldnt want to see how loud it gets with no exhaust hahaha
@SmellNRoses3 жыл бұрын
@@potatothorn yeah I’m looking into the exhaust delete. I see a lot of guys cutting the pipe right behind the cat converter. On my truck, right where it cones out it makes a turn down, so guys are cutting where it points down. Some other guys are making custom pipes and running it out the side of the bed. I’m probably not going to mess with mine until I have a problem...if I crush the pipe on a rock that will facilitate the delete decision LOL! As for the extra spare, I don’t know. I’m still running the factory tires that were on the truck when I got it. When I wear them out I’m planning to change both my wheel and tire sizes, so just going to a junkyard and pulling a spare might not help me out. I was already dreading having to buy 5 wheels and tires, now 6. Oh well the budget gets blown up every time I touch something. I’m forever broke LOL!!!

@@SmellNRoses interesting people are doing that with the exhausts on the newer trucks wow.. comedy i see a new thing now too is to have a big "short track" truck with 2 giant spares strapped into the bed, we saw a few in the desert over the weekend / spares take up the whole bed and yeah, 6 full sized tires and rims that's a lot of money!

120 is hot no matter what, but having experienced temperatures in the 110 range in Arizona I found it more tolerable, thanks to the very dry air, than the low and especially mid 90's with high humidity. Speaking of weather events, as Hurricane Henri approached Long Island this past weekend the breathless media reports - complete with "Storm Team" reporting - made one think we were about to experience Armageddon, the meteorological version of the Siege of Leningrad though (presumably) without the cannibalism. Even the power company was warning of blackouts lasting 10 to 14 days. It turned out, of course, to be a big heaping pile of nothing.
@potatothorn3 жыл бұрын
kinda glad the storm was not too big of a deal over there this time! Once you get over 110 things get much more dangerous and you move less but it is still tolerable as long as you stay in shade and have some cold drinks. When the ice runs out, we get nervous but we try to always have enough and now we have one of those really good coolers that holds ice for days.
