On the subject of Dragon Ball Super's timelines and universes. Trunk's 'timeline' is better referred to as an alternate reality. When goku summoned that xeno to get rid of omni-zamasu, xeno started saying, "a world like this..." He was going to say , "shouldn't exist." And by world, he means the all-encompassing reality that is trunk's timeline and the 12 universes that apply. On the subject of Trunk's hair, pretty sure the color gets darker as he matures until it reached blue.

Trunk's hair is now blue because Toriyama forgot what his hair color was. Trunks was originally suppose to have blue hair, like his mother (Bulma), but got changed to purple because he forgot. So I guess having it back to blue is what he originally intended.
