And I know soon come my time For in mine void a pale horse burns But I fear not the time I'm taken Past the point of no return. Wage war like no tomorrow Cuz no hell there won't be one For all who deny the struggle The triumphant overcome Trips to where, few have been Out of thin air, upon high winds Rites begin when the sun descends Have felt what few will ever know Have seen the truth beneath the glow, Of the ebb and flow, where roots of all mysteries grow I am below, so far below...

fr, too bad no one has heard it. It's like aeroplane where if you know it, you assume it's like the most popular known, beloved album ever, but if you asked 10 randos what they thought of it, there's a like a 15% chance one of them has even heard of it. And that theoretical eighth of a person probably thinks it's too mainstream.

The thing that amazes me about this song is when you read the lyrics it’s a deeply impactful and visceral piece of literature, yet some how Ride just casually raps it out, and adds the emotion that sells the ideas behind this song as a powerful life altering philosophy and individualist approach to art. Which makes a lot of sense considering it's their very first track on their very first album release. This is basically their thesis statement for Ex-Military and eventually for their music as a group. I feel a lot of people casually listening to this track and the Manson sample will assume the "Beware" is about the "beast" as the "other" or as the evil, but I don't think the song is necessarily condemning the Manson statement. I think the song is, if not outright agreeing with it, at least aligned with it, and the "Beware" is directed at the listener not for them to be afraid of the "beast" but to be cautious that they may not want to go where the band is taking them. Hence it being the first track. It's a warning shot. "this is who we are and what we are about, proceed at your own risk"

I am legitimately scared of this song. Every time I hear this song I feel like somewhere out there, there is this wierd, horrifying presence. The sampling gets the point of the song immediately out of the way, which adds on to the creep factor, because of the implications of the sample, and the true meaning being truly sinister and evil. And out of nowhere, this absolutely monstrously sized wall of noise jumps out and jumpscares you. It feels like this absolutely huge, horrifying creature emerging from the earth, and it’s intentions for what it does when it has fully emerged are malicious. The lyrics are also incredibly scary, sounding like wierd, demonic scribbling, being read off of a an ancient scroll. It keeps going and going, and it’s on of the scariest songs I’ve heard in awhile.

I don't think it's a contradiction. It's two sides of the same coin, it implies God (if he exists) is indeed watching, but he doesn't really give a toss about your prayers, praying is simply an admission that you cannot handle his challenge.

As a rock/metal oriented music guy, I’m surprised I even ended up checking out this album. I have never found my own tastes in rap/anything experimental like this, definitely gonna continue with it 🤘

Now I'm not too big into the rap scene, I know a bit of Brockhampton, Eminem, Kendrick lamar and shit, and of course Death Grips. Now the things I listed are about as different as lemons and apples but this track is the most visceral, angry, soulful flow I've ever heard. There is not a single drop of corporate mindset in this track. The verse is 2-3x longer than the chorus, and it just beats you over the head again and again with the most beastial lyricism I've ever seen in a track period.

"in the time before time eyes 'bove which horns curve like psychotropic scythes and smell of torn flesh bled dry by hell swarms of pestis flies vomiting forth flames lit by an older than ancient force that slays this life with no remorse" Ride is seriously amazing at writing lyrics. The imagery here and throughout the entire song is fantastic.
