I assume teachers have seen their fair share of bullying. She's just trying to make sure they kids were laughing with him, not at him. It's better than telling everyone to keep quiet, harder to pull off, but worth it teaching people how to interact instead of just making rules.

3:05 The kind of funny thing to note is that Stefan tells us in "Two Heavens" about how, "Two heavens is all I know." One heaven is here on Earth, and another heaven appears when he dies. Also, I'm pretty sure he talks about dying in the song "On GP" and several other songs, but I'm not sure if any of them specifically talk about heaven or hell like "Two Heavens" did. This is kid is "accelerated" much props. I did a the exact project when I was a kid but did it on Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys. My teacher didn't even ask me to present it because it was too "risky?" Anyway it takes balls to something like this that isn't a total cliche. Artists are humanitarians too. The others laugh because it makes them uncomfortable and secretly scared of this kids smarts. :)
