I always assumed it literally meant don't mess up your p's and q's, as in the lower-case letters that are the same, just backwards of one another. Kinda like cross your t's and dot your i's.
@chelseacatastrophe4766Ай бұрын
@TroyandZully Thats literally not what it means at all, he was wrong. It refers to the letters on old printing presses, which had to be backwards to be legible and minding your p's and q's because they look similar and can get mixed up when you're trying to do it backwards.

Josh, let me enlighten you😂😉 Seriously, ps and qs is a saying that originally came from early, really early print machines. P's and Q's looked the same and because when you hit the press everything is in reverse, like a mirror, it was very easy to confuse ps and qs. That's why you have to pay attention and mind your ps and qs . The bar thing came along much later I don't mean to be a know it all, I just honestly thought you might find that interesting

Having done time in Washington State and California and even 1 year in Nebraska for a total of 26 years , I've got stories that have stories and a memory that won't let me forget. My only thought on all the stories is, never glorify them because though funny or not , I'd rather not have them at all. From fights over socks and underwear , to stabbings over fake tags or bogus stories,to drug deals gone bad or someone just having a bad day...I'd rather not know any of it. Guys that are still going back after being there once don't value their own lives and keep going back because they feel like someone behind the walls and are stuck mentally. We can not wear those walls out , they were there before we got there and will be there long after we are gone. The unfortunate part are the guys that keep landing in unfortunate situations because the way the system is designed to create failure for ex cons and in some places that system is definitely hard to break. Be strong in mind ,determined in hear and move forward
@cindyearman4368Ай бұрын
Twenty-six years in and you still blame the system for your crimes and failure to adhere to punishment. Probation and other restraints are not designed for you to fail, but to ensure you realize there is no room for further fuck ups. Here is a novel idea, be accountable for your actions and don’t commit crimes.

I was in jail for a few months when Twilight Eclipse was just coming out of theaters. I stayed with a girl who's mom loved the books and since the didn't have TV (Middle of nowhere WV) I ended reading the first book there. Well I have MONTHS to go so I had my mom send in some magazines and the 4 Twilight books. The same guys that complained about the girls getting Eclipse played on Movie night, where the same guys begging me to borrow the books 😂 I had so many hardcore prisoners asking me to read the books I literally had to make a Library sign out sheet for them.

I had 0 good memories locked up, I try to forget. Did 16 months in county (will county il) and 6 months in state holding waiting transfer and got released because of covid and over population. Alot of drug convictions were either dropped or you got out on paper. Thank God for covid and thank god I was a junkie and not a violent offender and thank God illinois has over crowded prisons. But in joliet I got in fights almost everyday, never won one, but I never backed down, so people respected me towards the end, was called mighty mouse at the end, because I'm a skinny white boy with a poorly tatood baphomet on my forearm thay looks like a mouse now because of all the pits in my arm from banging dope. But I got extorted, picked on, beat up, almost raped and alot more. I didn't have alot of fun stories. We also lived in dorm style cells in county. Sleeping wasn't an option

Regarding that topic that you brought up about prison channels making up stories: I often wondered about that myself. Personally, I believe so, but I don't have any hard proof, and wouldn't really be that interested anyway. There's only two that I watch. I watch You and a gentleman named 16 da life. Both of you are very good story tellers. I have a background in being able to spot deception. When I watch you and him, I don't see any indicators while you're telling your stories. I appreciate that, and I appreciate your content. When I look at the two of you, I see two rehabilitated individuals that are both doing everything within their power to be productive members of society. That's very respectful.

@michaelm4725Ай бұрын
I was up on a 1 to 3 first time in going through a supermax on my way to the annex. Guy's like "I'm short, going to the board next year." I'm like "How long you been down?" "18 years." "How about you?" "I got a 1 to 3." "Oh, so you're waiting to go to the annex?" "Yup." That was Greenhaven, NY, the same prison the Son Of Sam was in. Very sedate prison. They had a college program going on there. You give some guys with little hope a shred of hope and it changes the whole dynamic. Some guy who wanted to commit suicide took a shaving razor apart and slit his jugular/carotid, and his wrists. I'll never forget hearing that at age 19. Freedom is a highly personal concept. Pain is in the mind. Just because it's not in the pariaquiductal grey matter in the ventricles doesn't mean it necessarily hurts any less. A mere "thought" can release neurotransmitters. Depression is a physical state of being. "In the mind" does not mean a figment of the imagination. The distinction between mental or physical is irrelevant as far as the body is concerned. The mental is embodied in the physical. This is called Neural Science, which I happened to study in depth in prison. No one was going to waste my life. Fk that. That's how you do time and not allow it to do you. I got the education of a college professor and all I had to do was some drugs and burglaries to get it. Thank you NYS for making me feel like crap, placing books around me, and throwing tons of free time in my lap. "It takes a sick oyster to produce a pearl." You should see the size of my pearl. I was one sick puppy. But I thrived under pressure. Grace Under Pressure. "To you, is it movement or is it action? Is it contact or just reaction? And you, revolution or just resistance? Is it living or just existence? Yeah, you. It takes a little more persistence to get up and go the distance." - Neil Peart, RUSH. Positive affirmation is natures crack cocaine.
