If a species has a lifespan long enough that 50 years to learn how to stand properly is a normal way to proceed toward the mastery of a martial art form, it can only be assumed that their lives span across millennia. Just look at humans compared to animals. A newborn wild animal must walk within minutes if they are to survive. However a human will not even crawl, let along walk for several months to a year into their lives. OP's story highlights that concept in quite the funny story.
