This Arsenal team is reminding me of the Wenger Arsenal team of the early 2000s. Athletic, strong, physically imposing but also technically good players (Bergkamp, Henry, Viera, Edu, Gilberto, Keown, Campbell, etc. Wenger then changed his blueprint. Maybe trying to replicate Barcelona, prioritising technical ability over work rate and physicality. (Fabregas, Rosicky, Hleb, Arshavin). There was no coincidence that the physically imposing Chelsea (Drogba, Ballack, Essien, Lampard, Terry) started to bully little old Arsenal on the pitch. Arteta is obsessed with winning the duels. If we dont get a center forward that can score at least 25-30 goals a season we might fall short again...(Toney,Osimhen,Viktor Gyökeres all still available) We have a good squad but during key moments last season we needed that firepower where a forward can just come up with a strike when we needed it most...Havertz and Jesus are good but they lack that cutting edge of a proper center forward

Toney is not a 25 - 30 a season goal scorer, and Osimhen has only had one high goal scoring season, also Gyokeres plays in a low competitive league compared to the Premier league and too pricy at that, which is why you don't see top teams scrambling to sign him. Trust the recruitment team, they've done and are doing their research on each prospective target, I don't expect the club to spend big on a player that wouldn't improve the team significantly.

Yes,Toney might have not scored 25-30 goals at Brentford but Arsenal Creative players such as Odergaard and Saka will provide a lot of chances for him to score and he's a decent Finisher...surely he can improve he's goal tally here Also Is Merino really needed now?has one great tournament at the Euros and was a FLOP at Newcastle..Adding depth is good but surely a fully fit Partey and Rice provide a better shield and protection infront of our defence... 33m of that money could have been use in a forward position .. I actually think the Gundogan signing is more similar to the Van Persie signing at Utd, for completely different reasons, but similar vibe, a short term solution to give the manager one last success. Feels a bit like the last dance for this Man City side, at least the side we have known for the last 5-10 years. Seems like they are transitioning in a way similar to how Chelsea did under Roman. Big signings to start, reduce the spending on the squad but invest in the academy facilities, start bringing through players. Lewis, Bobb (before his injury), McAtee, i expect a lot more young players getting minutes this season, and Ilkay seems like the perfect short term addition to try help this squad get over the line one last time, while it moves into a new era. Walker, Ederson, KDB, Grealish maybe even Silva and the Manager could all be gone this time next year. Pep has brought back his general to perhaps leave the team is a strong position beyond his reign. If this is a transitional season, even with the quality City have at their disposal, its becomes even more important Arsenal get over the line, its catch 22, as maybe Pep stays if they do, but Arsenal cant let City move into a new, younger, world class squad without placing themselves as a championship winning side as well that are going to make it tough season on season.

What im saying is this could well be a transitional season, where some of the guys who have been in the team for 5-10yrs are replaced with academy guys, could make them more venerable. i still think City win it, but Arsenal have to, or forget about beating City at all in the next 10yrs. Once that transition happens, the set up is such that the will likely be as good, or even better than we have ever seen them. If Arsenal cant beat them this season, they never will.
