We spent years under Wenger where we won nothing playing the best football in the league only to be told by everyone we were too soft, not pragmatic enough, didn't utilise the dark arts of the game, get bullied, men vs boys etc etc etc We have a team now that is adaptable and can flex between dominating possession, counter attacking, high press or sitting in defensively. We can go long, route one old school, or on the ground and be pateint in build up. I'm old enough to remeber George Graham's Arsenal and having a formidable defence was the foundation of that team and I remember early Wenger powerful, elegant and punishing - This team combines these two ideas and uses them at the right time. No one ever gave us a medal for playing the best football in the league and if we did that yesterday we would've been cooked. Everyone forgetting we were in the lead, we went down to ten men and the critics want us to play like Pep's Barcelona for 45 mins - Ridiculous. We have them rattled and I can't wait for the game at the Emirates it's just a shame that that could be the last time we go to the Etihad for a while unless we get them in the FA Cup lets see how humble they are going away to Preston.

Arsenal did what they needed to do in the situation. The issue for me is that Trossard clearly kicked the ball away. The commentators were also saying he’s kicked the ball away. He hoofed it up in the air. Arteta though is telling the media is a sarcastic way that he did nothing wrong and this is where the problem lies. He needs to install better discipline in his team as yet again this red card cost them the win.

Credit to Arteta, his tactics are changing and what was once his weakness is now becoming his greatest strength and that's his adaptability. The fact he deployed an interchanging 4-4-2 formation that begun to dominate city towards the mid/end of the first half is crazy as Arsenal had Man city absolutely rattled before that red card. Now unfortunately Michael Oliver ruined a game that should have gone down as the greatest battle of this season so far (blame goes to trossard also for putting himself in that position) and forced Arteta to setup in a very dull 6-3-0 I honestly can't imagine any smart manager would have done any different considering the side was 2-1 up against arguably the greatest attack in the world.

The game seemed more open than the last meeting and was shaping up to possibly be an early season Match of the Year Contender. But then Trossard got sent off and almost immediately everyone knew how Arsenal were gonna line up for the rest of the game.
