What do you think about Mark Ward, especially his book Authorized: The Use and Misuse of the King James Bible? Currently Ward seems super popular and his book seems to be the standard-bearer about the King James Only debate now. At least in my experience, he is intelligent and kind-hearted, a great guy to talk to in general. He came from KJB roots and still has many friends who are the same. He even did his PhD at Bob Jones University.

Thanks again for the book recommendation. I just read Mark Ward's book. I plan to provide a video with some of my feedback. Some things in agreement with him, and some things not in agreement with him. He makes some valid points concerning translations, vernacular, and some informative data. He does, however, ultimately leave the reader with no one single English Bible to rely upon. It's the same old "musical Bibles" game. More specifics and details will be in the video. Thanks again. @@dr.nickmargusd.th.s.2511 Thanks, that's a fair response. 🙂 Just a brief reply if I might: I've heard Ward publicly state many times that he doesn't believe there's a single "best" English translation of Scripture for all time, and instead he believes there are multiple "best" translations of Scripture as judged by factors like accuracy, clarity, naturalness. That said, I've also heard Ward say he uses the ESV, and I've often heard him recommend the CSB. Such as in Ward's interview with Sean McDowell over on his channel (McDowell is the son of Josh McDowell who has written popular books like Evidence that Demands a Verdict and More than a Carpenter). In any case, I appreciate your response, good sir! 🙂

James White has never said the NIV is more accurate than the KJV.

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps, not exactly in those words, but I can show you many examples where he certainly believes that the NIV has a superior rendering than the KJV.

The KJV was produced by, and for, the Church of England. Should not therefore, all KJV-onlyists be Anglicans?

@@captainkrajick -- The Puritans were Anglicans who wished to purify the Church of England; they were not Separatists, and persecuted those who did not agree with them, on both the Romanist side of the spectrum, and on the Separatist [Baptist, Congregationalist, Presbyterian, Independent] side.

5:30 "Why would James White quote the KJV rather than the NIV in saying 'prove all things' rather than 'test everything'? ... It just seems suspect." There is a simple and innocent answer to this question, which may be the correct answer. It is possible that James White was trying to avoid creating unnecessary obstacles to the reception of his thesis in the minds of those he hoped to persuade, especially in the light of his confidence that his message would already be difficult for such audience to accept.

Yes, it is difficult to remain both focused and disciplined in pursuing an objective, so even if it was his objective, his underlying disregard for opposing positions would interfere with his ability to recognize that he is making an appeal rather than imposing from a position of authority to (ignorant) (and inferior?) subordinates.
