@@th3be4st61 They ruled for centuries. Their power has diminished gradually since the Civil War, but they still have a massive amount of influence, they don't pay taxes, and their lives are wholly funded by British taxes and the income from their hereditary untaxed estates. Think of it like this, if you remove the layers of religion and pageantry, the British monarchy essentially owns the entire country and a financial stake in every business made on British soil. They also make money from every transaction, investment, death, etc. That's how taxes worked in the past - all the money went to the King and his family to allow them to live lives of luxury, while the government keeps things running on their behalf. Over the years, the government has become increasingly democratic, and this has pressured the Royal Family to allow more and more taxes to go back to the people in the form of public services - which they accepted in order to prevent themselves from getting Robespierred, along with gradually selling off more of their land to private and public ownership, or granting it to lower nobles. They don't technically "rule" any more, as they lost the right to direct governance in the Civil War, but "reigning" is only partially better for the rest of us. It means our lives are no longer decreed by the whims of an unelected ruler, but they still have all of the money, privilege, and soft power that they always had. The monarchs no longer have personal control over the Crown Estate and its possessions, but they still get to enjoy all of its benefits and luxuries. We're essentially paying for a small bunch of very posh people to stay in a variety of luxury locations at no personal charge while having the ear of the Prime Minister and all of the most powerful, influential, and popular people in the country, and in return they wear silly hats and tell us God thinks we're amazing.

lol i'm glad i'm not the only person that noticed this. You could also argue that the only reason the monarchy has been a stabilizing force for so long is they got lucky having such a long time with Queen Elizabeth being a generally likable character. The U.K. has had some genuinely horrible monarchs in its long history (George III, Henry VIII, Charles I just to name a few). Imagine if you had a Boris Johnson type king instead for all of that time. And besides all of that, the U.S. has been relatively stable for almost 300 years without a monarch and we seem to be doing just fine attracting tourists and what not.

Its nice in their eyes, sure, but noone is overly enthusiastic about it. 🤔 what do you think about it?
@RaffieFaffie
@RaffieFaffie 5 ай бұрын
I'd say it's below 1% let alone 5%. If a tourist comes here to see even Buckingham Palace which is a place associated with royalty that doesn't mean they have an interest in the royals whatsoever but they could also be visiting just to see the palace and the royals didn't play a part in their decision and still have an opinion on the royals anyway whether it's positive or negative. A foreigner could still visit because they are a royalist and wish to see royal landmarks though this must be such a small minority. From my experience there are many in the UK who care about the royal family whether it's a mild like, mild dislike, love or hatred but I have noticed more caring and opinions on the royal family from foreigners than natives especially during the death of the Queen or the coronation of the new King. I'm apathetic and don't care for them, they could rule for the rest of my life or royalty could cease today I don't care. Of course this is just my anecdotal experience it could be otherwise but we won't know as I don't imagine there's polling in the United States or other countries regarding their opinions about our royal family.

It's 2023, we've just watched at least 6 years of every country on the planet basically do and enforce the exact same edicts in lock step without missing a beat. I could go into a really long spiel but the truth is there has been a one world power ruling the west for at least 1,000 years maybe even 1,500 years. There have been groups or small nations who have tried to fight against it but they never fared well. Truth has popped out here and there but for the most part it's been a Hegellian dialectic where it appears to be 2 different sides but it's always been the same coin. Most likely the middle eastern nations, north African nations, and Western Asian nations have been under the same umbrella too. People are so mystified by media in all forms that they don't even see what's happening anymore. In the founding of almost all countries and universities in the last 1000 years there has always been a single source at it's beginning. When merchants and explorers were making their missions to the far east there was always this same source aboard the ships. People like Shakespeare or Sun Tsu have been always so hard to pin down as actual people but when their works get disseminated there is always the same source behind it. A one world government is happening whether we like it or not. The U.N. is just biding it's time. The WHO is just biding it's time. It's probably all just a coincidence.
