It must of been wild for teens in the 80's!!! My brother in law listened to all of Debbie Gibson and I was a kid rocking out with him. I knew it was good music but I didn't know how good it really was until now =)

She’s so cuteee!! I will always love this song even though I wasn’t born near the 80s, but after I found out about this song and how Debbie wrote and produced her own songs, I had to stop by and watch all her performances! She’s amazing and so beautiful

On this day in 1987 {August 29th} Debbie Gibson performed her debut charted record, "Only In My Dreams", on the ABC-TV Saturday afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Only In My Dreams" was at position #5 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, the following week it would peak at #4 {for 1 week} and it spent over a half-year {28 weeks} on the Top 100... It reached #6 on the Canadian RPM Singles chart... Between 1987 and 1993 the Brooklyn, NY native had eleven records on the Top 100 chart, five* made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Foolish Beat" for 1 week in 1988 and "Lost In Your Eyes" for 3 weeks in 1989... Besides her two #1 records, her three other Top 10 records were the above "Only In My Dreams", "Shake Your Love" {#4 in 1987}, and "Out of the Blue" {#3 in 1989}... Deborah Ann Gibson will celebrate her 49th birthday in two days on August 31st, 2019... * She just missed having a sixth Top 10 record when her "Electric Youth" peaked at #11 {for 3 weeks} in 1989...

Dude I am a hip hop head, I also love super heavy metal and punk music. My guilty pleasure is 80s pop music. Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, the bangles, hall and oates, Joe Jackson, Gary numan, the go go's Michael Jackson etc. Music is so great bc there are no rules, you like what you like, and taste is subjective 👍

She's just so damn cute in this video. I mean she is so adorable. Deb and I are the same age and I remember having such a massive crush on her at the time. She has that girl next door prettiness that is both attractive and sexy and innocent at the same time. Those cloths and dance moves remind me of why the 80's are legend and the best decade to have been alive in. I am forever grateful to be generation x and to have been alive during the best decade ever. Memories.....

Really nice to see some new vids. Not used to seeing her perform this song w/o her dancers (and lipsynced), but it makes it interesting. Don't care if the quality is 99% snow, post em all!. Some of my favorite Debbie vids on youtube are crappy amateur footage from 100 ft away of her singing "Between the Lines" and "Wake up to love" and the Jackson5 songs from the Motown medley

Oddly enough recently I heard a portion of this melody winding through a Kpop song and couldn't figure out where I knew it from but then remembered her (who at the time us post-punks wouldn't be caught dead listening to). So now revisiting a few of her songs I realize now that she is kinda the cornerstone of Jpop (and was hugely popular over there back then). And her dance moves are obviously the basis for the basic Jpop dance style (and Annabella Lwinn from Bow Wow Wow was also a major influence back then)! Interesting to see how these seeds sprout decades later!

Still a few more years of 80s, and even when the 90s arrived, the 80s style survived until 1991 (Duran Duran and Expose' and InXS still producing number one songs).
