She was fortunate to have sane parents who weren't trying to live off of the money she made and to have seemingly ethical managers. She never had the fame that Britney Spears had but Debbie Gibson was/is a 1000 times better singer and her songs were actually HITS. She was wholesome and wasn't a bad influence on my generation like Britney is. Debbie is now a stable adult who never self-destructed.

I'm sure there have been times when Debbie Gibson thought to herself that she was born ten years too early. If she had been 17 at the time Britney was, the time when that age was taken seriously artistically, who knows how long Debbie Gibsons career would have lasted. As for comparing her to Taylor Swift, don't waste your time, mine, or anyone else's. Debbie has her beat in songwriting, voice, and musicianship. Both hands down! Looks? Personality? I wouldn't take either from t.s. Debbie is still a charmer!

We were blessed to have grown up the 80’s and heard the music from these “teen idols” like Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. They were nothing like today’s young artists that try to be “cool” and are raunchy, immoral, vulgar, half naked, etc. No tattoos, body piercings, plastic surgery, just humble ordinary teen girls who behaved and dressed like the rest of us, and were clean, chaste, upright, and were beautiful and sexy, but wholesome! Plus they were incredibly talented singers who were genuine and sincere with their music. They were great role models for other teens, and this is what we desperately need now days with the direction that society is heading.

Without you, without you I always thought that everything was fine Without you Never knowing you'd be mine Suddenly my world has changed And I just wonder why All it took was just one smile Now with you, out of the blue Love appeared before my eyes with you A dream come true I never thought I'd realize what love was What love was, what love was. I need you, oh I need you And everyday I love you more and more Without you (dreams and tears) I know what it's all for Suddenly I see you there And everything's ok Don't know why I feel this way Now with you, out of the blue Love appeared before my eyes with you A dream come true I never thought I'd realize what love was What love was, what love was. Here with you We are together now Never take my heart away All the love I found Is here to stay (out of the blue) It's like a dream come true I never thought I'd fall in love with you Out of the blue Love appeared before my eyes with you A dream come true I never thought Here with you

Those were the days of real talent. Something about someone back then composing their own music, playing their own instruments, and having a studio in their home. Debbie was a unique talent that we don't see today.

Ahh, the Queen of the 80s in my opinion. I wore that cassette tape out. Man, such great memories.

Such special times from back then:) I was born in 1986 and my sister was born in 1981 so this was more around her generation..Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, New Kids On The Block..times just seemed better back then..such innocence and being full of wonder and dreams..I would totally go back:) I miss these times:)

You and your sister would've loved the 80s as teens. Then again, late 90s/early 2000s (9/11 and Iraq wars notwithstanding) had some great movies (Matrix, Fight Club, American Beauty, Sixth Sense, LOTR) and decent music (White Stripes, Jet, Creed, Kings Of Leon, 'American Idiot', Weezer, Linkin Park).

@@SpiritusMundi4EVER Yeah definitely! I love the movies of the 80’s and I wish I could go back in time..my sister was class of 1999 and I was class of 2004..the early 2000’s were so much fun! I felt like after 2005, things slowly started to decline as each year passed. Thank you for commenting:) It was awesome to read what you wrote:)

@@SpiritusMundi4EVER Welcome! Yes we sure are and that’s all very nice of you to say:) Thank you:) All the same to you also and always look out for yourself:) I’ve definitely had my fair share of dealing with really awful people in my life being very cruel to me..ironically what you said was very similar to some things I was watching about Cinderella tonight..her heart was so pure and she always held her head high and remained happy and cheerful despite how cruel her step mother and step sisters were to her..she never gave up and ultimately won the battle! So good will always prevail over evil and yes I’m a guy, but I feel very drawn to that story and how someone so beautiful and so pure, got the desires of her heart:) Truly a beautiful story:)

I used to listen to Debbie Gibson when I was a kid. I came across this video today and I have to say, I have a new appreciation for her. She really did/does have a lovely singing voice. It was a nice surprise to "rediscover" her, especially in these difficult times. Listening to her now reminds me of better days.

Mall pop singers were so popular in that time period. I miss that so much and never realized how talented these artists were. Kids will never understand or get to experience this EVER again which is so sad.

Apolonio Romero Jr. I totally agree. Some of the stuff I hear today makes me say, “What the heck is going on?” They just don’t make music like they used to.
