This interview reminds me of conversations I had when I was younger with my cool Grandma, may she Rest In Peace. Looking back though I feel I could have shown her more respect with the personal topics I discussed with her. She took it in stride though, the same way Debbie does. Debbie has an amazing voice. Back in 1979 disco was so huge that new rock acts found it hard to get noticed and old rock acts had to perform disco hits to stay relevant. The group Blondie was able to be considered both a disco group and a punk rock group all at the same time without all the orchestration and production that made it difficult for disco acts to have live performances. It was what the music world needed at the time. I’m not sure what 80s pop music would have been like if Blondie hadn’t paved the way. It was the music I grew up with. I thank Debbie for the 40+ years of being able to enjoy her music. Strange how fast the years go by.

Saw her solo at Toad's Place New Haven 1989 and had the pleasure of meeting her downstairs in the refrigerator room, and she signed a couple LP's I had! Was the last one ushered in the room, and the first to have anything signed! She was surprised to see that I had "Def Dumb & Blonde" on vinyl! Had that signed along with a Private Stock promo "Blondie" LP! She signed "Def Dumb & Blonde" Love Debbie! A great show, she sounded great and the band was pretty good! Stein looked through a scrapbook that I was passing around the crowd! Can't believe that I got it back with all the pics still in it! Chris looked at every page! Aaah youth! Saw Blondie at The Beacon in 2017, Pollinator tour. They were awesome!

What I love about this interview is how Harry doesn't sound old at all - she obviously has a lot to say and sounds completely contemporary - but you notice her reflections down memory lane embody a completely different mindset pinning her to a different era in regards to things like gender or sexual politics. It's pretty incredible how matter-of-factly she is able to dismiss or roll with something like having Bowie expose himself to her or her story about the photo she was promised would be cropped. She never espouses any #womenpower, victim ideology or feminist posturing through any of the discussion. It's very refreshing, and makes her seem more powerful and progressive than any number of female pop stars who are just an army of yappers (who probably have it 10x better than Harry ever did). Lots of respect for her in her candor and demeanor in this interview.

@@ericbray4286 eh it's the same stone faced cornball expression she's always had which is the opposite of not taking yourself too seriously.. she 100% takes herself too seriously for someone whose music wasn't that great. she would not be as famous as she is/was if it wasn't for her looks, period.
