This show was the zenith of Jim Henson and his team's talent. They took an idea and made it a love letter to music, comedy and vaudeville/variety programs, and gave us a family show that was funny and tremendously entertaining. Sometimes I wish they had made more seasons, but a show should always stop before people start asking "Is _that_ still on?"

@@WNHTCT Debbi was in Tales from the Darkside. She was in a slew of not so good B movies. She was in Copland with Sly. I never recognized her in the movie, and I watched it twice over the years. @@peterang6912 sir, I said, "and make the billboard top 💯. Bill did rap before Debbie, but it sure didn't make the billboard's top. Many rapped before Blondie. Grandmaster Flash is one example. Bill does have many firsts. I highly respect Shatner and Roddenberry for one in particular. Shatner was the first white man to kiss a black woman on television. Kirk kissed Uhura. The first truly modern raps were monologues by pimps in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. There was no music or instrumentation, but their words carried the modern rap cadence, meter, and form. As an aside, have you ever seen Spock sing about Bilbo Baggins?

“The Muppet Show” was the only variety show that I know of that didn’t HAVE to ask Celebrities to be guest stars. Especially musicians. They called up and pleaded to be on the show! Linda Ronstadt, John Denver, Barbara Mandrell & Buddy Rich all had their agents book them on the Muppets. When the show was canceled (Jim Henson was too sick to do it anymore and he KNEW no one else was going to do it right) Pat Benatar, Heart and Fleetwood Mac were among the artists on the waiting list.

Debbie Harry was never a favorite for me, I thought Blondie had some great songs, but they weren't one of my favorite bands. However, seeing her with the Muppets Band and in the duet with Kermit gives me a whole new appreciation and deep affection for her. I didn't know this but Blondie until recently was apparently one of those bands that was appreciated more outside of the US. They were very big in Europe! When I hear the name, Blondie, I still think of the old comic strip first! LOL I watched a few of the old movies in the Blondie series that ran for 10-13 years (?). The funny thing is the title character was played by the same actress, Penny Singleton, who did the voice of Jane Jetson on The Jetsons. If you've watched the animated series (The Jetsons) it's so obvious Singleton was Jane because her voice didn't change! I know Debbie Harry. She was huge in the 1980s when I was growing up. I'm sure a LOT of guys had crushes on her. I thought she was very attractive in her prime (which is when she did The Muppet Show). She was the face and voice of Blondie whether people liked that or not. She's different but seems like a nice person.

Waldorf with the zinger. Still makes me chuckle. And why in the world did they put Debbie on such a dangerous set?!?!? Nothing but monsters around every corner and behind every door.

This show got me theough college. Each werk, my buddies would drop everything to gather around the tv. And Debbie Harry is a class act. All the performers who guested on the Muppets were good sports, but she just seemed instinctive.

If I watched her every week as a child on The Muppet Show, I would have been in heaven watching an angel.
