Based on a small box by Tilda Studios from the Tilda's Seasonal Ideas Collection book. This is a slightly larger version, very handy to store sewing notions or beauty products in!
Finished size:
6" x 6" x 5" [15cm x 15cm x 12.5cm]
Fabrics from: www.debbieshore...
Materials:
26" x 9" [65cm x 22cm] firm interfacing [Decovil]
26" x 13" [65cm x 33cm] fabric for the lining
26" x 8" [65cm x 20cm] fabric for the base

Thank you Debbie. I made a smaller version out of scraps. Next time (and there will be a next time) I will make the base and the lining fabric 1" wider than the interfacing so I have a 1/2" seam allowance. It is a really cute useful project. I'm retired and I'm just getting back into sewing and I love your tutorials❤

Cute box! TY Debbie Shore for showing how easy it comes together. I think a few in my sewing room would be very useful...maybe just a tad bigger. Have a good afternoon!

Fabulous! I haven’t tried it yet, but I think that sewing the Decovil-or foam interfacing-along the fold lines for the bottom and sides before adhering it to the fabric would create natural fold lines and help to create crisp corners and bottom edge to the box. You could seam the lining fabric-or with an accent fabric to compensate for directional fabric. I’d love to do this to add a cork or faux leather trim. A cord or faux leather tab folded over the top would be a nice touch. Thanks and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦

If you akready have done so, i aplogise. But could you devote a whole session on the various interfacing etc weights and how to obtain them in the uk? You ooften mention numbers and makes but i find i remain a tad foozled by the sheer variety . Thank you. Love your offerings and teaching.

Love this fabric box. So glad you showed us how to make it bigger. When you crease the corners like you showed, would it be alright to also sew only on the outer edges/corners of the box ? Or would doing that have some effect on how the box sits ? TYSM for sharing this video and the pattern with us. Love your channel. 😻❣🥰

I use clear vinyl tubing (1/2 -5/8 in diameter) purchased in a hardware store. Using box knife or sharp utility scissors, cut off segments slightly narrower than bobbin width. Make a cut in the little circle and secure it around the thread on the bobbin. Works well.

Just wondering if you could use the gap where that last long line of stitching across the lining is to turn it inside out. You would then ladder stitch that line or even machine stitch it. The lining always works out a tiny bit too big, so it would help to reduce that. I think it would be possible to turn it inside out with less crumpling of the stiffener. I’ll have a go.
