you mentioned your Debian install video, yet I don't see it in your show notes under your install section, nor did I see anything to click on (I tried to click on the popup screen on the upper-right hand screen), ....found it! will watch your install video first. THANKS! Also, I will badly need help learning how to download packges for Debian - which lines to use, yes....but, also, how to know which are safe and which are not. I have a vague idea based on the popularity of some names (NextCloud, Kden, Gimp, Joplin, etc...), but that is about it.
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
@Wynn Horton - Thanks for letting me know I need to update the description I forgot to update that section. As far as packages go the safest are in the main stable repo so stick to those for the most part unless you know what you're downloading, of course, if you want to download a non-free or contrib repo package make sure to read up on it and see what others are saying because there's no guarantee that they won't mess up the system. It's kind of like searching the web on Windows and downloading executables you just have to use your judgement and discretion =) Here's a list of stable packages: packages.debian.org/stable/

Very good tutorial video thanks. I am currently using Xubuntu or Mint XFCE. While some things in Debian seem more complicated the steps to install DVD playback and Wine are quite similar. As Xubuntu and Mint XFCE seem to be very stable I may install Debian 10 but only through Virtualbox.

Unable to locate package winehq-stable I assume that's because of the sources.list, because in MX(which I'm using) i can't use sources.list i can only use sources.list.d wich is located in /etc/apt/sources.list.d and there i must create a seperate file with sources for wine. And I don't know how, and what name to use for that file?

Enjoy what man ?! , all that letters falling down just confusing me, I want to switch to Linux but I would like it be like Android, Why is so difficult ? After all Android is based in Linux.
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
@Ivan Guerra - Yeah switching to Linux sometimes can be daunting and even overwhelming with all the different choices. I don't think Debian is a good choice for newer linux user making the switch. There are plenty of distros out there (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, MX Linux, and Zorin) depending on what you like that take a different approach which are focused around the beginner user and not necessarily intermediate/advanced users. Personally, I started out on Ubuntu and I didn't play around with terminal for quite a while before I got my handle on just using the App Store and various applications available on the desktop. Hopefully, you get to do the same some day to see how powerful linux can be =) but maybe switching doesn't make sense for you yet ^^

I try to make my KDE desktop pretty which is going just fine. I want my boot process less nerdy, if you know what I mean.But stuff between Grub and KDE remains looking very nerdy. I would like the Grub menu remain until the KDE menu is reached.Let me show you what it looks like now: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGKcln2DgJ6slaM
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
I think I kind of understand what you want to do. You can't just keep showing the GRUB menu because that's pre-boot selection for your system. You want all the kernel messages suppressed on load up. Instead of them flying up and down the screen? If that's the case take a look at this answer it might help: unix.stackexchange.com/questions/117926/try-to-disable-console-output-console-null-doesnt-work
