Never seen this film. But loved the clips, even though no words could be heard. Both outstanding main characters and Yul Brynner my favourite. Oh Deborah, how can you not resist that charismatic man. 💘

This is a work of art....the build in the music, the concentration on movements of their bodies and facial expression was in the unrelenting 3 note repetition. You used it so well. As I adore this film, I see the carefully thought out editing. Great job and thank you for sharing your work with us.

Thank you very much. It was a hard work to fit all those sequences to the song. I was afraid that KZbin would desynchronize too much the clip, but it's only a second of desynchronization from my original clip.

Never heard of this movie The Journey. I bought it, watched it, loved it. I can't understand the obligation that Diana, Deborah Kerr's character had towards Paul Flemming Jason Robards Jr. ? He was selfish expecting her to accompany him across the dangerous, heavily guarded lake to freedom with him. I know Paul was recovering from torture and a bullet wound but he just came across as so............mmmmm yuk. Or was he just over shadowed by Yul Brynner's hot as a cat on a tin roof masculinity. I bet there was many a cold night years later, old Di would lay in her bed and think about the best kiss she would have ever had in her life while old Paul laid there snoring his head off.
@angelinanobile62124 жыл бұрын
Oucluscupitumamo1 I like your observations. There is No comparison between the effortless, primal masculinity of Mr. Brynner and the lack of any natural magnetism of Robards, Jr. How Lady Ashmore could resist the Major is a conundrum. Me thinks Lady Ashmore was afraid to get too close physically and emotionally to the Major because she didn’t know if she could take his intensity. I agree with you about Paul’s selfishness in putting Ashmore in such a dangerous position. I would have left Pitiful Paul moaning in pain in his bed. I would dash across the square to the Magnificent Major’s bed so I could do some moaning of my own. 😉

I have watched this movie many times, and Yul’s acting is wonderful! Now, having watched the clips without dialogue, I realize Yul’s acting I now realize Yul’s acting is superb! He inhabits the character and when the scene isn’t “his” he still dominates. Debra Kerr is a wonderful actress, but she pales in comparison to Yul. I also did not understand Jason Robard’s character as the wimpy spy. Even his half-assed try to defend Ms Kerr at the end didn’t ring true to me. He was using her to get to freedom. Ahhh- the strengths of the “bad guy, Yul” shine truly as a real person and Robards, on the side of the “good guys” is really nothing. BTW- I have always wondered if the Colonel realizing if he delayed leaving in the Jeep he would be shot-and chose to die because he no longer could defend his country & their politics. In my opinion, he was too good of a man! And I cry every time I have to listen to the shot of his beloved horse being shot!

Why bother fitting those sequences to this overused song? There's a piece of Russian folk singing in this movie that is far more relevant - and much less pretentious portentous. On the other hand it is truthful, original and obscure - so lets go with the cliché instead.
