My and my sister watched this movie for the first time tonight. We were blown away. Brynner and Kerr were fantastic.

Non mi stanco mai di guardare e riguardare questi filmati. Grazie a chi li ha gentilmente caricati. Yul e Deborah una coppia fantastica. Peccato sia finito così tragicamente.❤❤❤💋👄❤❤❤

Had never heard of this movie. Came across it by accident on KZbin after wanting to know about Yul from reading his biography The Man Who Would Be King written by his son Rock Brynner. I ordered the DVD from Ebay. What a movie !!! He should have got an Academy Award this body of work. He's like a caged Wolf burning with a wild passion as soon as he saw her. Like a wounded wild animal it was sheer kindness to be put out of his misery in the end as he could have never lived with sanity after she'd left him.

You're absolutely right. :) I think she loves him too but feels responsible for her Hungarian friend / former lover. Brynner seems to have put all of his soul into this role. And it's a really complex character. I've also read the biography you mention, and I think Yul Brynner is one of the most interesting personalities that have ever walked this earth. And one of the most handsome ... ;) And then there is his deep voice and the way he moves - like a cat somehow.

I actually sent Rock Brynner a quick message via Facebook. I told him how much I'd enjoyed his novel he'd written Yul The Man Who Would Be King. He answered me (or his secretary did lol) and said he 'was glad I'd enjoyed it and that he'd written it nearly 30 years ago'. He also said, 'he'd written a more up to date novel 'Empire & Odyssey, The Brynners In Far East Russia and Beyond'. I told him 'I would order it as it sounded like a great read'. But unfortunately The book is currently unavailable in Australia. I will go online USA and try and order it from there. Yes Yul was very stealthy and cat like in his movements, pure caged masculinity. Poor old Jason Robards jr. character, Paul Flemming was so emasculated by Major Surov.

She certainly did give in to his kiss, she kissed him back passionately and held him tightly as they kissed. Then the church bells rang and she came to her senses. She certainly had more self control than me.

I also think deborah's character was psycho to prefer paul to d major
@LadyFromVulcan6 жыл бұрын
I think she simply felt guilty because Paul had had to suffer so much. She felt obligated to him. But I think she truly loved Surov - well, who wouldn't ...
@lianasammartino84906 жыл бұрын
I agree, but did she really prefer Paul?
@srj19455 жыл бұрын
S Ds She didn’t prefer “Paul” - the entire movie had two main characters. Very little time was focused on Paul - it was Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner. They were in several things together. What I’d like to know is where he got that voice of his.i think someone else said she was with Paul out of guilt.
@lars12964 жыл бұрын
She says it earlier in the movie that she feels guilty for what happened to Paul. That's why she's with him. Not a good basis for a relationship.
