Haven't had much luck with a white and silver jig until I watched this. Used your advice and decided to pick up a bluegill colored jig, tied it on and used a skinny dipper swimbait as a trailer. Fished about 5 ponds with my son and caught about 10 fish all between 2-4 pounds yesterday.

Man, I appreciate that breakdown. I avoid jigs like the plague for bass because of the constant hang ups. Understanding the degree the line tie comes off the head and a similar degree sloping jig head makes all the sense in the world. Fear gone, jig fishing hope reborn. Thx Debo!

Thanks for watching man. The BIGGEST things to help combat snags with jigs are 1. Spread thr weed guard out to the sides. The jig generally gets snagged in wood when the jig rolls on its side. Spreading the weed guard out HELPS! 2. Move the jig slow through cover. If you pop it fast you can drive that hook and get caught. Hope this helps man.

Thanks for doing this vid. I love jig fishing and my black and blue swim jig with a zman z minnow trailer have been putting in work this fall. Even with the wind I have been catching 3-4 pounders. I reel the jig slow then let the jig fall then back up swimming again. They usually bite on the fall or when it comes back up. Jigs don't get the love they should from most anglers so, I'm glad you put this out there.

This is really funny...... today I got done with work too early so I went to Sports Academy next door and bought a new rod, fluoracarbon & 2 Strike King swimming jigs. One was the Tournament Grade Hack Attack Heavy Cover with the Gamatsu hook & the other was the Strike King swimming jig with the Mustad wire hook. I've never been one to use a swim jig but there have been times when I was using a Chatterbait & the bass were in the cat tails and didn't want to commit to that presentation. Both are bluegill color pattern and I already had the 3.75 Ragetail Swimmers to go with em. The main forage for most of the lakes I fish are bluegill. Alot of pumpkinseed with those bright red heads. I've got a nice H20 Express swimbait that looks just like them but most of the areas are rittled with alot of dibris which makes it hard to work it without getting hung up. So this year I plan to fish the thickest grass and areas I couldn't get to properly before. One of the lakes I fish has a ton of grass to fish in & there's huge crappie in all that grass. I'm definitely going to enjoy these jigs for sure. We didn't have this kind of good grade of jigs when I fished tournaments in the early 90s. This year is going to be a better experience no doubt!!!! I'm going to be putting these Daiwa rods to their fullest potential this spring. Hope everything is going well for you Debo?? Just about geared up for the 2020 fishing season. Thanks for sharing this video. Later 👊🤘

Outstanding! Definitely one of my new favorites from the Debo Library. I learned so much from this video. The head style was something I really didn’t consider but is so crucial like you said to the swim jig’s effectiveness. The hook style is something I really need to keep in mind too with all baits not just these type. It really serves as a good reminder that fine wire hooks can cost lost fish if you have too stiff of a setup. I fish braid and Fluoro most frequently and there isn’t as much give. This clip has great logic to it and there are many things to take into consideration. With that being said, I cannot wait for part 2 :)
