@@iammee1111 So long as your in the tornado belt where a hill is 3 feet high sure... but while these cat's where built to last millions of miles with only (good) normal maintenance, but they where really NOT built for power, much less power to weight ratio. In factory guise these literally kick out as low as 170hp-190hp (and only every up to 330hp even with the newest versions and high output kits for fire trucks ect), which means far from towing massive trailers with ease, most actually fall well shy of what people expect in a modern full-size truck, indeed being about the same as the larger diesels in midsize options like ford ranger. Instead just like the 6BT they make sense in heavy vehicles commercially because they represented less hours of maintenance and even a small amount less fuel per vehicle kilometer when being constantly worked hard, and share not nessesarily parts, but basic layouts and mentality with larger CAT truck and generator power-plants making them easier for heavy vehicle mechanics to understand/deal with (the Cummings 6&4BT instead being common in off-road plant, as featured on this channel a few times, so familiar to mechanics of those styles of machine rather than larger trucks)... where as something like a modern 6.7 power-stroke is built very much more in the language of a light vehicle mechanic, even if it might actually make the same output for the same duration's without issue your local car mechanic will have FAR less headaches than a guy who normally works on Peterbuilts or Excavators.

Man, 8 gallons! I feel guilty at 15qts on mine. Hopefully he's doing oil analysis instead of simple mileage change intervals.

most semis take between 7-10 gallons of oil they require more oil to fire the injectors and to keep the hpop lubricated and the motor much more to it than they look
@shapeshifter77534 жыл бұрын
Anyone know if that injector story is true? Or could a smaller pan be used to lessen the need for as much Dino squeezings
@oldretireddude4 жыл бұрын
@@shapeshifter7753 The story's true, my 7.3 does the same thing but on a smaller scale. He would have to re-engineer the pan. It's a heat dissipation/anti-foaming issue on the OTR truck pulling 10s of thousands of pounds.
@TylerDuysen4 жыл бұрын
@@shapeshifter7753 yes the story is true it possible to use a smaller pan just dont go with some cheap chinese one

The 6.0 powerstroke moves 18 gallons of oil a minute over 3000rpm. Yes oil is very very important in a heui. They wont run or start with under half a pan of oil.

95 f150 here. Timmies cups actually fit between the seat and the door, won't go anywhere. DO NOT forget about it, I had a few mornings ruined before I even got into work, because when I opened my door, my seat ejected my coffee into the parking lot

Lol! I did the field follow for Caterpillar on the 3126 engine during development. We actually put one in a Chevy and a dodge. We had to limit the hp to the lowest rating otherwise we would destroy the transmission. Brings back memories.

Why not an eaton fuller 6sp? it'll fit nice and can handle more torque than you would think.. Vacumm is easily achievable with either a 24V or 12V industrial vacumm pump, I have one on my 1974 Toyota BJ40 (got rid of the original vacumm pump)

I worked for Cat at Mossville and there was engineer who installed a 3208 in a Ford along with a Allison trans. It was ok but he had to beef up the front because the Ford did not have enough guts even though it was a 350. He said it pulled his camper like it wasn't even there.
