Again, thank you for your work at the facility. I liked the young man's phrase "I really love this." There is so much to learn from this video. Consistency and persistence being the two that meant the most to me. Most students do it once and think "O.K. what is next?" Same for schooling the horse. Thanks for all of your videos.

Young fella's keen and listening. Had some good intentional steps going before the horse decided to push the spin dry button again. Nice horse and you can see the young fella improving as the video goes on. Great patience and leadership as always Pat, and excellent work videoing it all Deb,. Thank you both and G'day from downunder.

I noticed that when Colt bends his wrists the horse starts to waller. That’s a sensitive horse! When I was a kid, my instructor would have taped a ruler on my wrist and palm. Oh those were the days.

Did you watch the first lesson video from last week?

This is a personal choice but wouldnt it be better to practice backing him in a bosal so that he is not constsntly havijg his mouth pulled on? I realize this is not a bridle horse but it will never be soft in this manner
@PatnDebPuckett11 сағат бұрын
The thing that makes a horse soft is the release. Not the unwillingness to ever pull on the reins. If we put this horse in a bosal, he would go through it.

Could this horse benefit from a hackamore?
@PatnDebPuckett3 сағат бұрын
No. He has been ridden his whole life in a leverage bit and chain curb strap. He would have no problem running through a bosal. The key to this whole lesson is that the rider had to pull just as hard as the horse is pushing and then release as soon as he gets the response he is after. If you watched last week’s video you’ll see how this works with a younger horse that hasn’t learned to lean on the reins.
