One other thing to keep in mind regarding the suicide rate here at Cornell is because there are hundreds of bridges around campus, it makes it more accessible to the local news and word spreads quickly and the event can't be kept a secret. I heard that other ivies might have a higher rate but they keep it on the down low since it doesn't happen in a public setting. By the way, I am an MBA graduate class of 2018 and my hubby is graduating with his MBA as wey this coming May #GoBigRed

Suicide talk was big thing thirty years ago when I was in college. I do feel that Cornell has done a great job making dorm and dining better than most schools and the emphasis on free mental health help onsite. I am sending my son to Cornell soon and thank you for this video!

Actually, the suicide rate has dropped tremendously. The reputation was warranted back in the 1970's. In addition to the reasons given here, the mandatory failure rate was offered as a possible contributing factor. In 1982 or 83, the rate finally dropped below #1. Apparently the reputation has stuck.

My friend said to my best friend that cornell is the worst ivy and that her mom rather have her go to penn state than cornell. Btw she knows that my dream school is cornell 😢😢 then again the same person said to my other friend that yale doesnt seem like a happy college.
