@6torthor
@6torthor 2 ай бұрын
I disagree with aim being not coachable. Aiming has fundamentals that translates differently from game to game, and aim trainers are meant to isolate your weaknesses so you can effectively train them on repeat. Additionally, there’s a reason why aim coaches exist The tips you hear from these videos were what many would classify as “lazy aim,” waiting for the enemy to land in your crosshair for click timing heroes (burst, think Cas, Widow, Genji). This works when the enemy is moving in a predictable pattern, but this isn’t always entirely useful especially in high elo where players understand good movement The 3 fundamentals of aiming are click timing, tracking, and switching and you can train these consistently. Movement is then another layer of complexity that is then added to these scenarios, and for Overwatch (a game with instant acceleration), you’ll want to let your movement aim for you. Your movement is used either for dodging or aiming (see Spilo video on this). Moving to aim is either mirror or counter strafing, where you mirror strafe when you have an advantage as it’s much easier to land the shots, and counter strafe when at equal or disadvantage Sure, these things can be learned just by playing the game like Hydron says, but it’s not obvious at all and you’ll find your average Overwatch player for the most part actually just AD spams and lazy aims. For anyone that has even aim trained a little, you’re very easy to kill simply by stagger strafing and aim down center mass for tracking characters and lazy aiming for click timing heroes (you’ll see this is often how Sojurns aim by standing still for a microsecond when they get rail) For anyone that’s read this far, I recommend watching Greed’s video on aim science to better understand the fundamentals and Spilo’s aiming fundamentals video as well. Spilo has an aim coach that explains movement aiming more in-depth Edit: LMAO the “Kovaak’s freak plays Overwatch” video at the end demonstrates very well particularly the movement aspect I was talking about, though it’s mostly reaction tracking from Soldier. Movement fundamentals was still applied to Cas though. You can systematically, almost scientifically in a sense, get good aim like that it’s very possible. Other things I didn’t mention were ergonomics, mouse grip styles for your sens, sleep and diet (healthy and consistency), focusing on smooth pursuit and minimizing saccadic masking when reading movement (the “eye” part that’s neglected in “hand-eye coordination” of aiming, osu! is unironically a great quick warmup for this), tension management (greater the distance, the greater tension should be on initial flicks before micro adjustments), and crosshair placement
@Ropewatch
@Ropewatch 18 күн бұрын
Most good aimers dont think about aim like you do. Your approach is not optimal. If you went up to a good player in a game. Not a kovaaks player. They would tell you to play a lot. Notice almost everyone will tell you to just actually play the game. Every guy I‘ve seen that smokes me in deathmatch has like a thousand more hours than me. Its time for you to enjoy yourself and not train.
@6torthor
@6torthor 17 күн бұрын
@@Ropewatch Sure, but what if you don’t have time to invest thousands of hours and want to be equally as good? Then the aim training approach is optimal. Also, “good aimers” aren’t just those with thousands of hours, there are plenty of people (while a minority) that do approach aim scientifically like this. Some of the best aimers in the world like the Val players Tenz and Demonz are a product of this, amplified by their thousands of hours on top of it making them regarded by many as the best aimers in the world because they know how to improve most efficiently and put hours in. But deathmatch Andy only knows how to put thousands of hours in, not necessarily how to improve his aim Don’t disregard something you don’t know, don’t understand, or isn’t popular as “suboptimal”. I broke it down to its core mechanics and you completely disregarded it, despite being a VERY proven method to achieving good aim. Most “good players” you’d approach would say put hours in because the majority only do this. It’s not wrong, but it’s not the only approach, rather it’s the most inefficient approach

Most people stuck in gold/plat can get to dia/masters just by improving their 'micro positioning' (idk the actual term for it). By micro positioning I mean more like cover usage. Once you choose a general part of the map to play in (positioning), micro is the exact spots you choose on the centimeter scale. How wide you stand, when to peek, how you move while shooting.
@sawah765

Imagine you're on a cheeky angle as Ashe, ana, whatever. Genji pushes you from the side of where you're looking. A low rank player will react to that enemy by moving backwards, panic strafing with no thought of how that exposes you to the other enemies you were just looking at. The best scenario is for you to slightly move so that genji is the ONLY enemy that sees you and multiple allies can see you/genji to assist. The next best case is you and genji are in a true 1v1. Nobody else on either team can see you two to assist. The worst case is you panicking and exposing yourself to everyone in the main fight while turned around tunneled on this genji. It's a common mistake I see even in my masters games. It's an easy skill to improve, just try to be conscious of who can see you and try to fight the urge to panick strafe/walk backwards without thinking

ima keep it a stack. I used to be one of those players saying your teammates aren't holding you back it's you. And this was good I climbed from plat in ow1 to now mid masters in ow2. Trying my hardest to hit gm, but it seems like every game I'm the only one on my team even trying to win. not even coping I have so many replays and stat boards of me having so many kills and getting so much value, meanwhile my team does absolutely nothing. The biggest problem I have right now with the giga tanks patch is the enemy tank see's me doing this and they decide to just focus me and shut me down. And that's totally okay because that would allow my tank to freely get value, But that's the problem he does absolutely nothing and goes negative. I can't even fight the tanks how I used to before as a dps main you used to be able to counterplay, and outskill tanks. Now it's no more. If you 1v1 a tank you lose %99.99 percent of the time simply due to their role. The balance of the game is so messed up, but honestly I could care less about that I can work around it. But the matchmaking is like the cherry on top. I'm not even trying to cope like genuinely my games be a 1v9.

In the way you use it sure u can't teach aim nor can u teach someone to lift x weight / do x reps BUT you can teach someone proper form just like with aim you can teach someone proper techniques. These techniques won't make u a good aimer just like proper form won't make u a good lifter but it will set you up so that if ur serious and you put in those thousands of hours you will become a good aimer/good weight lifter. Also metro is actual trash at aim, all kovaaks players know this just like all kovaaks players know good aim doesnt make you good at the game you play it just makes u good at aim.

I think a lot of factors come to together to build the concept of "aim" but the Pointing and clicking aspect isn't even that hard. most people just have wack hardware, environment and settings. shid posture, shid grip, shid mouse, shid computer, shid montior, shid mousepad, shid humidity (turn on the AC noob). People be playing on a post-it note and 5billion sensititivy. Learn to use a competitive cm/360, and lower your ingame sense to 0.01 (crank up your dpi as needed) to eliminate crosshair skipping. Trust 0.01 sense+100000 dpi is better than 100 ingame-sense 10 dpi. if ur dpi dont go that high. unlucky hardware gap. Not saying to dump a million dollars to get slightly better mechanics. but like I'm sure you can copy and paste a few settings, clean your desk, adjust your seat, turn on the ac, etc and have better aim instantly. My 9 y/o cousin can hit nasty shots on my setup and they never used anything other than a like an ipad. yeah sure they get their ankles broken by a tracer knowledge gap on crosshair placement/hitboxes, but they can point and click just fine.

Hydron, I lost respect for you on this one. Sure this coach is a fraud and giving some very ChatGBT advice... on improving... however Criticizing Coach Mills because he reacted to getting one-shot by a Widowmaker on stream isn’t fair. Mills is one of the humblest coaches out there; he openly admits he’s not the best at the game but excels at helping players understand it, much like Spilo. You're a great player and a cool guy, but you need to be more balanced in your critiques. There was so much miss information here.... like the not everyone can make it to GM... whats ironic is my friend is Masters but plays in a top 3 team in AU but cant hit GM because he isnt good at solo queing and he doesnt have the time outside of playing with the team to grind. You talked about how new players seek a “quick fix” for aiming improvement, but then you mentioned buying high-quality peripherals as a quick fix. Good peripherals like a 24-27 inch monitor with 240hz, and a mouse that fits your grip style (like a Death Adder for palm users or a Sora V2 for claw users), are important. Additionally, cloth mousepads generally provide better feedback and control than glass ones. Upgrading gear is similar to buying a better BMX bike-it improves performance to match the standard but doesn’t guarantee improvement. As you mentioned, OW2 requires thousands of hours of aim practice. It’s essential to train the right skills, such as vertical aim with Metro’s aerial targets. For lower ranks, warm-ups and 1v1s help with dueling mechanics and adapting to human movement. Aim improvement can also benefit from coaching. As an ex-CSGO pro, I found that feedback on my aim-like reducing sensitivity and improving crosshair placement-was crucial. Movement is indeed more important than aim, as it helps with avoiding damage and controlling recoil. And yes, Bogur outperformed Aspen-Bogur solo carried his team to the first World Final for Marvel Rivals and reached GM faster than anyone else. Sure that game isnt OW2 but it's a high skill ceiling game that is brand new so Bogur is someone that can pickup things instantly... the guy was a Software Engineer before he was an OW2 player... fairly sure Aspen has a masters degree in wearing Cat Ears and uWu'n

"there is no aim secret" I strongly disagree with that statement, at least when it comes to improvement. The best way to learn how to aim, as any mecanical skill requiering muscle memory is to do it well and slow before doing it well and fast. You start slow and bad untill you're slow and good and only there you train your rapidity in order to be good AND fast. I thing people that struggle with improving their aim (including me) don't take the time to aim well before aim fast. Also, having a consistent strafe pattern helps a lot not to screw it's own aim with it's own strafe

these videos are funny but i think u go too hard on the aim training its def not the most important and staying alive plays whatever tf u wanna say is better but aim training is def not the worst thing to do and it will help you get better, esp at a lower rank ur like a billionaire telling people not to save money or invest or someshit lol its not the worst thing and it does help

You lost me at 8:30 cause there are plenty of examples of people that aim train being nasty at the game(s) they play. Not just Tenz. But yeah, aim isn't everything. Still ly papito

These are individuals who already have good aim. If you have good aim, you will be good at fps games by default.

@@pi-2627 Exactly, they're already good at aiming but they can see they can improve so they train it more and get even better. You don't see a guy that''s been going to the gym for a year and put on 5 lbs of muscle as a beginner during that time (which isn't much) all of a sudden become an IFBB pro, there's either something missing be it too much stress, too little sleep, bad diet etc... that can all be fixed but at the end of the day you might just not be genetically predisposed to having a good physique. Some people can hop on any game and be good mechanically but others just might not have that good hand eye coordination.
