My late father's favorite melody and one of his favorite singers. A resplendent combination.

Farrell does it again! No other recording tops this one! Her voice is so controlled, yet stays totally flexible. She is tender and light, yet also solid and powerful. Those dynamics made her one of the best singers of the 20th century.

Translation for non-French speakers: Beautiful Evening When streams turn pink in the setting sun, And a slight shudder rushes through the wheat fields, A plea for happiness seems to rise out of all things And it climbs up towards the troubled heart. A plea to relish the charm of life While there is youth and the evening is fair, For we pass away, as the wave passes: The wave to the sea, we to the grave.

Thank you for this, I am doing this for a recital, and it was wonderful to hear someone who could get the expression and diction to add to the song to make it more gorgeous, instead of many others, where it distracts from the beauty of the song.

Well, for classical singing it is beautiful to 'flip' the r's and sometimes roll them.

A surprising interpretation. For a non-native, very sensitive and detailed.

Rich, vibrant and ethereal all at once - gorgeous. Can't abide the rrrrolled rrrr's, though.

It's customary in singing art song, even for native French singers. The more popular singers use the back R, but it's not considered appropriate here.
