The movie “First Man” has a theremin as it’s lead instrument in the original soundtrack; fitting instrument because it resembles a human hum but also has connotations with space-travel, making it the perfect instrument for a movie about Niel Armstrong processing the death of his child while riding a rocket ship. Didn’t like the movie personally, but it’s use of theremin is such a smart move on a meta level, and the soundtrack’s use of it really redeems the instrument by using it unironically to show off its strengths.

Noelic the way he vibrates his hand is similar to violinist, so it makes sense. It’s like he’s playing an invisible violin, but with different positioning, almost. :)

This sounds amazingly 1920s Art Deco kind of futuristic, like it was from the soundtrack of Metropolis or World's Fair demo. I think it's because a classical music piece is played on one of those early synthesizers that used simple sinewave oscillators and vibrato.
