I am always a bit biased when it comes to hearing Heloise play the harp. Not only is her playing exquisite but all the music she plays is perfectly suited to the harp. Whenever I listen to Heloise I completely in her thrall. To see her delicate fingers caressing the strings to produce magical sounds. I also think that debussy had the harp in mind when he wrote claire de lune. Thank you Heloise for your beautiful playing.
@iancollins4074 жыл бұрын
Brian Gibbs What makes you think Debussy had the harp in mind? Not saying it doesn’t fit the harp, it certainly feels very natural, but as I’m sure you know it is written for the piano. Don’t you think that if he had the harp in mind he would have just written for harp?
@briang.42494 жыл бұрын
@@iancollins407 yes I am aware that Debussy wrote this for piano, Mr. Collins. For starters Claire de Lune is a beautiful and delicate piece, hence me saying that the music lends itself to the harp. There are also examples of classical music crossing over to modern music. As example take Vivaldi's 4 seasons, predominantly written for the violin. Now go one step further, there is a young lady in France called Tina S. Her instrument is the electric guitar. She is what I would call a modern virtuoso playing guitar. My favourite composer is Vivaldi so when I came across Tina on KZbin, I thought that it would be sacrilegious for her to play Vivaldi's 4 seasons. How wrong I was. That young lady blew me away with her amazing talent.

This is an original translation of Verlaine's poem, from French to English. I opted for eight syllables of iambic tetrameter, and (like Verlaine), I gave it an ABAB rhyme scheme. Thematically, and in imagery, it's pretty close to the original. If you look closely, you'll see a tribute to Coleridge. Enjoy! MOONLIGHT Your sacred soul a chosen land, Of music, masquerade, and dance. They play the lute, and kiss the hand -- With saddened hearts, they seek romance. A minor key unlocks a song, Of love and life and lonely eyes. The music whispers loud and long, Of weeping moon and paradise. The moon is sad and bright and clear, And sings the nightingale to sleep. The fountains cry with joyful tears, While sleeping marble statues weep.

Éloïse you play devinely. I wasn't listening to clair de lune for à long time since it is so much played around and popular that I had enough. But literally you made my breath stop for a while listening to your magic interpretation, so sincere and actually "breathing". Thank you so much.

Just with a look at the title I knew how dreamy this video can be.

Why can I not give this more than one thumbs up? Life is unfair.

Thank you for the friendly reminder of what art and talent look and sound like. Sometimes KZbin forces you to forget.
