Arne & Carlos thank you for today. You made me remember when I got some very expensive wool and beautiful jumper pattern for Christmas. I still have that jumper which I knitted for myself and it is almost 30 years ago. It made me think how thoughtful my mum was when providing for her large family. Lost my mum 5 weeks ago. Christmas this year will be very hard. Thanks for the beautiful memories. xx

I know it's hard for you to share personal stories Carlos, but I really loved hearing how welcomed Arne's mom made you feel that first Christmas together. Now we know where Arne gets his sweetness from. Giving you his boot today when you soaked your foot, that is so sweet, kind and generous. I thought I would skip knitting today's ornament until I saw it, the mutton is super adorable, especially once it's blinged up! Thank you both for sharing your life with us!!

This reminds me of my mother. Every Christmas she would knit socks for all four of us, our partners and children. On top of that she would knit a huge bagful of mittens and hats for the Christmas mitten tree at the local school, to be donated to those in need. I turned two old pairs of socks into 12 tree ornaments using small embroidery hoops, and gave them to my kids as a remembrance of Grandma. Thank you.❤

I love these episodes. What a touching story, Carlos. I don't have any nice cozy stories about my husband's family, they hate me because I'm not Jewish. My mother-in-law never once gave me any kind of gift. I'm happy that I will never have to see them again now that my husband is gone, they were horrible to me even when he was dying and when he passed. They weren't at his funeral. Thank God I have loving memories of my parents and my husband that I can think about at this time of year. I will really miss them all this year in particular as it is the first year without my husband and my mom. I will remember the good times we had over our 44 year relationship and smile through my tears as I remember my husband trying to sing the Christmas carols in church Christmas Eve (he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket lol). I'm going to be without internet and TV until December 11, so this could be goodbye until then. I will try to watch on my phone and figure out how to comment, we will see.

What a lovely story about the Christmas Socks! My mother in law taught me to knit 8 years ago and every time I pick up my needles I think of her and how grateful I am that she taught me such a wonderful skill. Knitting is filled with love and it makes every piece so special.

Love the name of today's ball! The selected theme and French name of the ball is familiar as I live near Port Mouton Island, named after an errant sheep in Nova Scotia, Canada. "On May 13, 1604, the French explorers Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Monts and Samuel de Champlain landed at Port Mouton and built a temporary camp at Bull Point. The village takes its name because a sheep, excited to see land after a long journey, jumped overboard one of the vessels and swam to shore. " (quote source- Wikipedia)

My partner was Turkish I stayed with his family for a wedding, they came from all over Turkey.. ( sitting on the floor traditional).. His old aunties( in their 80's) had never met a 'foreigner' and were really curious . They sat on the floor knitting Turkish socks... and I sat with them and asked to have a go ... hand spun wool beautiful... they couldn't understand why a 'foreigner would be interested. Before they left they gave me a gift.. two pairs of their hand knitted socks... so beautiful. I still have them all these years later...one pair is very worn and the other I treasure... My partner and his aunties are long since dead, but the memory remains.... and the socks

Hi Arne & Carlos! Thank you for adding so much cheer to my December days. I just adore these videos. I gasp and then smile on each ball reveal and today's is THE CUTEST!!!! Your sock story reminded me of someone in my life who gave me a pair of hand knitted socks. My sister-in-law is from Finland and she and my brother married in Helsinki almost 25 years ago. I went to the wedding and her mother gave me a pair of socks that she made and I still treasure them. I thought it was the most wonderful, thoughtful gift. And the warmest! Thank you for reminding me. It inspired me to send her a Christmas card and share the story of what those socks meant to me. Love to you both. Kim in Cleveland, Ohio, USA
